SmackDown Review 23/4/19: Kevin Owens Heel Turn!!
Tumblr media
Welcome to the SmackDown Review for the 23rd April edition of the show. Becky Lynch's SmackDown title contender is revealed. Some superstars are still being traded? And we saw a shocking heel turn in the main event. Read our SmackDown review and find out what we thought of the show. Elias and Shane McMahon beat down Roman Reigns Shane comes out and said he doesn’t have much time so he is going to introduce himself by Greg Hamilton just once. He then went on to talk about Roman Reigns punching Vince last week. He praised his father and compared Reigns punching Vince was as same as disgracing the US flag or disrespecting the Mount Rushmore. This was some good heel work by Shane which got some heat from the crowd. He said that he is not going to fine, suspend or fire Reigns. Instead, he is going to settle this in the ring. Shane ordered Reigns to come out. Reigns grabs a mic looks at it and throws it outside. Shane does the same and stands up to fight him. Elias runs in from behind. Roman tried to fight but he just couldn’t fight them both. Shane and Elias beat him down and left them laying in the ring. This was a good heel promo from Shane. He said that what kind of man attacks someone else’s father. When he had done the same just weeks ago. Shane is a great heel. And Roman getting cheered by the crowd is a good sign. He is a good wrestler, but maybe not the best at the mic. So I think it is a good idea to keep him away from cutting promos for a while. He is very much over with the crowd right now. Elias vs Roman is not the best of feuds, but it is not the worse either. Segment Rating: 3.5/5 Kayla did a backstage interview with Kofi, With Xavier Woods and Kevin Owens jumping in the frame in the middle of the interview. Kevin Owens is just a stand-in for Big E as he just said what Big E lines... Or was he? InterContinental Champion Finn Balor vs Andrade After being on Raw last week Andrade is back on SmackDown to face Finn Balor and win the Intercontinental Championship. That’s what Zelina and Andrade told us standing in the Gorilla just before their entrance. This was an OK match. I prefer their Raw match last week over this one. was dominating the match. The finish was when Vega tried to interfere in the match. She went on the top rope to dive onto Finn but missed when he moved out of the way. The ref was still there. So it had been a DQ anyway. Why would she do that? Andrade caught her and carried her across the ring. He was attending to her which gives finn an advantage to deliver a shotgun dropkick in the corner followed by the Coup de Grace. Andrade getting pinned is not the best thing for him. I thought he might win here setting him up for an intercontinental championship match. But now, I believe, he will be in the Money in the Bank ladder match. I think he was somewhat protected by Vega interference. But why would Vega do something stupid like that? It made no sense. Match Rating: 3/5 We see Elias backstage challenging Reigns to a match at MITB by singing a song. I guess that is how they will work their way around on SmackDown to make time for Elias' song. He was joined by Shane who left the arena with him in a car after saying Roman will never accept your challenge. Kairi Sane def. Peyton Royce Before the match, IIconics did their usual “make fun of their opponents” promo. This was, as usual, a great mic work from the IIconics. They kept referring to Kairi as Kerry which was really funny. Billie made an excuse for Peyton, who got pinned by Kairi off the insane elbow last week. She said Peyton was definitely not hydrated enough and was caught up by the element of surprise. It was good to see the crowd join in on the IICONIC again which seems to be a regular thing now. However, the women’s tag champions just keep getting pinned. The match ended pretty quickly the same way as last week with the InSane Elbow. After the match, the rest of the absolution, Mandy and Deville came out to face off with Paige’s new team. I think it's leading to a three-way feud. There is nothing of a match to rate here. This was more of a segment. Segment Rating: 2.5/5 Before the next match, we saw Aleister Black sitting in a dark room. He was talking a bunch of nonsense. He said some words about his character and what his character is. But I don’t get much from this. I think it will be just these promos for weeks now which I am not excited about. Lars beats down Everyone This was supposed to be a match between Chad Gable and Jinder Mahal. But Lars attacked Gable midway through his entrance. Then he got in the ring and beat down the Singh brothers after Jinder got away. Truth came to to have revenge from the last week but he got beaten up as well. Lars left Truth laying in the ring after two gutwrench running powerbombs. I am all for Lars to beat down people. I think Chad could be a great feud for Lars first match. But it seems like they are going for truth, which I guess will work as well. Segment Rating: 3/5 Roman Reigns accepts Elias’ challenge for Money in the Bank backstage when approached by Kayla asking the same. Bayley confronts Charlotte and Becky Charlotte came out to recap what had happened at WrestleMania 35. And as ususal Charlotte claimed that She never lost and deserves the SmackDown Women’s championship. She demands Becky to come out. Becky came out and said that she has already defeated Charlotte a countless time. She wanted to beat the women who had never been beaten. She wanted to beat Ronda Rousey. Then came a great exchange of words between Becky and Charlotte. They really went back and forth. They were cutting each other sentences instead of waiting for others to complete. Becky said that Charlotte deserves nothing and she wants to face new challengers like Bayley, Ember Moon, Mickie Jame but the management keeps getting Becky tied up with Charlotte. Bayley came out after this and said that Becky might have beaten Charlotte countless times but Becky has never defeated her.  Bayley said that why don’t Charlotte earn her match against Becky by facing her. Charlotte warned Bayley to go in the back of the line as Smackdown is still Charlotte's.  But Bayley just knocked the mic off Charlotte’s hands. This was a great promo from all of the women. Great back and forth argument between Charlotte and Becky. We also got to see a badass side to Bayley standing up to herself and shutting Charlotte off. Promo Rating: 4.5/5 Charlotte Flair def. Bayley There was some good fast paced action in the beginning. Charlotte worked over Bayley’s leg throughout the match setting up for figurre four later. The crowd chanted “Charlotte No Belts” midway through the match.LOL. The pace picked up again at the end. Charlotte went for a figure four but Bayley rolled her over. Charlotte kicks out and hit a spear for the win. I really wanted Bayley to win here. It is not good for her to lose clean. And I have seen Charlotte and Becky many times already. It will be a good match at Money in the Bank, but so would have been Bayley and Becky. I don’t know which of the two blondes will win at  MITB. It was a good match however, I do not agree with the booking decision. Match Rating: 3.5/5 Next we got the exact same Firefly FunHouse promo from Raw. I love this. As I said in the Raw Review this has a lot of potential. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston def Shinsuke Nakamura via DQ Kevin and Woods had setup a pancake commentary table to do the commentary for the match. They kept cutting to it in between. The match started with a well 18 minutes left for the end, which is more than enough for a TV match. But with more time there comes more time to fill. So they did, with some slow paced action. Kofi landed on his feet off a monkey flip. He stood up across the ring and mocked Nakamura’s “Come on!” taunt Kofi stomps Nakamura when he tried to go for the Kinshasa. He followed it up with an SOS but the pin was broken by Nakamura’s partner, Rusev. I will cover the beatdown as a separate section. I thought this match is going to get all of the time but it was just a set up to what happened next. Average match overall. Match Rating: 2.5/5 Kevin Owens and Xavier Woods came down to save Kofi. Woods dive outside onto Rusev bit gets hit by Kinshasa from Nakamura. Owens was attending to Kofi in the ring and Nakamura came from behind. Kofi saved Owens which made the incident that came afterwards more heartbreaking. Kevin Owens hit Kofi with a superkick. He ripped off the New Day T-shirt he was wearing and continued to beat down Kofi. There was some great character work from Kevin Owens. Woods tried to help Kofi but Owens delivered a powerbomb on the apron to him. He looked on with a sadistic expression on his face. This was heart breaking, brutal and an amazing story at the same time. I am excited about this feud moving forward lets see how it goes. Segment Rating: 4.5/5 SmackDown Review Final Opinions This show had an average first hour but a really great second one. I really liked Bayley badass like persona. She didn't win but I hope she wins the title in the near future and continue with the same character. I loved Kevin Owens' heel turn. He had turned heel on every one of his friends and it is always heartbreaking to watch. Overall this was a pretty good show. I really enjoyed both Raw and SmackDown this week. A good week for WWE. SmackDown Review 09/04/19: A SHOCK Title Change!
Tumblr media
SmackDown Review: There are new champions in the town. Some big Raw superstars jump to the blue brand ahead of the Superstar Shake-Up. How did the SmackDown after Mania turn out to be? Read our SmackDown review and find out. Kofi Kingston’s WWE Championship Celebration Woods say tonight they are here to celebrate the career of their friend. He said that Kofi has been his real hero before he congratulates Kofi on behalf of everyone. Kofi got on the mic and this was a genuine moment. Kofi said this wasn’t supposed to happen. It wasn't in the script. But they made it happen. He thanked his wife and his kids sitting at the ringside. He was interrupted by... The Bar… *sigh*. The Bar was booed heavily by the crowd. The crowd chanted, “Shut the f*ck up” to them. They challenged the New Day for a 6 man tag match later tonight. They said they have made some friends over at Raw, which brought out Drew McIntyre as their partner for the main event. The promo before the Bar interruption was genuine and not scripted. They were just told to go out there and have fun and enjoy the moment I guess. It was really great. But I still don’t get the Bar’s problem with the New Day and Kofi. Also, Superstar shake-up is set to happen next week but I think we just got some glimpse of it. Drew is probably moving to SmackDown. It will be nice for him. Rating: 3.5/5 6-Man Tag Team Match: Ali, Ricochet & Aleister Black vs Andrade, Rusev & Shinsuke Nakamura Heels work over Ricochet. He made a hot tag after neck-breaker to Ali. The crowd didn’t react for it though. Black went for a dive but jumped back in to sit in the middle of the ring joined by Ricochet and Ali, who rolls in the ring to sit with him. Black hits Andrade with a moonsault. Ricochet did the same on the outside to Rusev off the barricade.  Ali tags himself in and delivers an inverted hurricanrana to Andrade followed by a 450 for the win. Winner: Ali, Ricochet & Black This was a fine match with a great sequence in the end. There were big moves all around near the finish. Rating: 3.5/5 After the Match Randy Orton came out just to deliver an RKO to Ali… from outta nowhere! Orton just leaves after that. Rusev then gets in the ring to eat a stunner from Owens… from outta nowhere… again. I think this is either leading to Orton and Owens feud or maybe just hype for Money in the Bank ladder match. The Usos are backstage where they addressed their title defense against Hardys later tonight. They said they will prove they are the greatest brothers duo and greatest tag team there is. They welcomed Hardys to the Uso penitentiary. R-truth and Carmella Truth and Carmella were in the ring to recap what happened at WrestleMania. R-truth said Carmella defeated Andre the Giant in the Royal Rumble which was really funny. Carmella corrected him before thanking truth for being by her side for the past year. She thinks that winning the Women’s Battle Royal will do great things for her future. They got interrupted by the United States champion Samoa Joe who comes out and beats down Truth, locks in the sleeper and throws him out. He grabbed a mic and said he will beat anyone who will step foot against him, just like he did with Rey at Mania. Braun Strowman came out and these two had a brawl. Joe tried to pass Braun out by locking in the Coquina Clutch. Strowman fought back to go for the slam but he couldn’t lift Joe up.
Tumblr media
What was the point of next week’s superstar shake-up if all the Raw stars are just gonna come out this week. That being said I would really love a feud between these two. I didn’t know I wanted this match. This will be great in the weeks to come. Rating: 3.5/5 WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship Match: The IIconics (c) vs The Brooklyn Bells IIconics talked about how people are being a fighting champion. So they are here to be one themselves against the best tag team in Brooklyn, who have a 45 match undefeated streak, the Brooklyn Bells. One of the Bells got some offense in but they were just there to job to the champs. IIconics debut their new finisher to end the match. Corey was great at commentary for this match. He was very heelishly talking about how IIconics might lose their titles here to the undefeated Brooklyn bells. Winner and still champions: The IIconics Backstage Paige is watching all of this on the TV. Kayla got there to ask what she was doing here. Paige announced that she will be debuting a new tag team next week. I am really excited to see what Paige’s new faction be. She is great on the mic and can really put over some new talent. This will seem repetitive but anything on this show has just been the same pace for me. Rating: 3.5/5 Best in the World – Shane McMahon Shane came out and recaps WrestleMania to be the 341st to do so before coming to his match. He said the fans only tuned into Mania to see Shane beat Miz, who is not here tonight, attending to his father. Mr Miz chants from the crowd. Shane said Mr. Miz got in the ring and punched hin in the eye, giving him a mark. The crowd chanted “You Deserve it”. He said after that he had to prove after that he is indeed the Best in the world. “CM Punk” chants break in the arena. And he did. Shane brought Greg Hamilton to the ring and told him to introduce him like he did at WrestleMania. Greg said that many fans had threatened him that if he did call Shane the best something bad will happen to him. Shane said he only needs to worry about the one standing in front of him instead of the fans and introduce him properly. Shane dragged Hamilton to the ramp by grabbing the tie. Hamilton kept announcing him as best while they were going there. And finally, Hamilton got it right. It was a good promo by Shane but I didn’t get the point of taking Hamilton towards the stage just to let him go. I thought Shane was going to beat him up there. I don’t know. Promo was good. Rating: 3.5/5 SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs The Hardy Boyz This was a great TV match. Uso countered a twist of Fate with a super kick. Jeff kicked out of a splash from one of the Usos. They went for a double splash but Jeff moved out. A Twist of Fate by Matt followed by Swanton Bomb by Jeff for the win.
Tumblr media
Winner and NEW champions: The Hardy Boyz This was easily the match of the night. Really enjoyed it. I think this is just start of their feud. I have no problem Hardy having a title run on SmackDown. Either this lead to a feud or the Usos heading to Raw next week. Rating: 4/5 After the match Hardys are celebrating in the ring when Lars music hits. He came out to beat down both of the newly crowned champions. He delivered a diving headbutt to Matt and got walking. No problems there. I guess Lars gimmick is just to go after the legends. I don’t mind that. The Man – Becky 2 belts Becky said what she had already said the previous night that she is ready for any challenge with a little mention to Lacey Evans attacking her. She went to the stage and posed with both the belts after that. As she turns around she got punched on the face by Lacey. Becky had trouble standing up after this. She sold it very well. And Lacey just walked back to leave the champ struggling on her feet. This feud could be really great. So far it's been good. Let's see how this goes in the future. This segment was just the same as Raw, without any brawl. Rating: 3/5 6-Man Tag Team Match: The New Day vs Drew McIntyre & The Bar Before the match starts, Sami Zayn came out with a mic. Before he says anything crowd were singing his theme. When they were done Sami just went, “Yeah, you’re not worth it”. What the hell was that? You don’t need to feature everyone on the show. This felt like he came out just for the sake of it. Back to the match, Drew slammed Woods face first on the table grabbing his legs. Cesaro  went for a cross body. Big E was supposed to caught him but he fall over and went for the pin. The Bar hit E with a double white noise but Woods broke the pin. Big E tags in Kofi. Kofi takes everyone out. He hits Trouble in Paradise to Sheamus for the win. Winner: The New Day Nice short main event. After the match, Kofi celebrates with his family in the ring. Send a everybody home happy.
Tumblr media
Rating: 3/5 This didn't feel like a SmackDown after Mania. You had your Raw stars coming over to SmackDown as surprises and no major debuts. We also got a title change. While Raw had its ups and down SmackDown was consistently average with a great Tag title match. The main event was a little underwhelming as well but not as underwhelming as Raw was. SmackDown Rating: 3.5/5 That was our SmackDown Review for 9th April 2019. Don't forget to follow us on social media by clicking on the icons at the bottom of the screen. Raw Review 09/04/19: A HUGE WWE Legend Returns!!
Tumblr media
A lot was expected to happen at the Raw after Mania. Did it deliver or did it fail. Find out in the following Raw Review. New Universal Champion Seth Rollins Opens Raw The crowd is cheering and is happy for Seth Rollins. A very loud “You Deserve It” and “Thank You Rollins” chants. He said he was run over by a truck named Brock Lesnar but he got back up. Some might say he had taken a questionable path but he didn’t do anything Brock wouldn’t have done to him. Brock Lesnar can stay in Las Vegas. He is a reigning, defending FIGHTING universal Champion. He was interrupted by the New Day. They get in the ring with the new WWE champion Kofi. Big E said they are here as they couldn’t wait till SmackDown to celebrate. Kofi said that he was watching the main event later the previous night, winner take all. Kofi said how about the new Universal champion and the new WWE champion go one on one in a winner take all tonight. The crowd chanted “Yes!” and “This is awesome!”. Rollins accepted the challenge What a way to open the show. I didn’t expected the New Day to come out there. And especially challenge Rollins in a title vs title match. The crowd was super hot too. this was great opening. I thought they have booked themselves into a corner but we will see... Rating: 4.5/5 Raw Tag Team Championship Match: Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins (c) vs The Revival Dawson takes out Hawkins with a muscle buster on the outside. Hawkins blind tags himself. The Revival didn’t realize and delivered a shatter machine to Ryder but Hawkins rolled over Dawson for the win. Winner: Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder This was a fine match nothing special. I thought Revival might get their titles back here but no, Hawkins won it for the Edge-heads. Rating: 2.5/5 Baron Corbin Promo The ring announcer ran down all of Corbin’s accolade before he comes out. The crowd chanted “As*hole” and “shut the f*ck up” to him as he continues to speak. He said he deserves a gold medal of his own after last night. Kurt Angle music interrupts Corbin. He comes out and tells that Corbin did get better of him last night. While his career might be over Baron’s is just starting so he is here to wish Baron luck. Both of them shake hands when Kurt continued, “Bad Luck” and delivers an Angle Slam to Corbin followed by Anklelock. Corbin got out of the ring and I thought this is it. But Lars Sullivan came out next to face off against Angle. Lars delivers an Urinagi and a diving headbutt from the top rope to Angle to get some heat. He leaves Angle laying in the ring.
Tumblr media
If you wanted to put over Lars he should have just faced Angle in a match. I have no problem building new talent who is really talented like Lars or any other guy from NXT but Corbin was not worthy. It will always leave a bad taste in mouth how Kurt’s career ended. Rating: 3/5 Alexa Bliss vs Bayley We saw Alexa Bliss’ tweet challenging any one of the former women’s tag champs Sasha and Bayley. It was accepted by Bayley. Bliss mocks Bayley asking where is her title. Bayley replied with a punch. Bayley drives alexa into the corner with a sitting sunset flip near the end of the match but Bliss got her hand on the rope. she came back with a DDT to win the match. Winner: Alexa Bliss A filler match does nothing for me. I thought Banks could have come out to assist Bayley at ringside at least. Rating: 1.5/5 The Man is ready for all challenges Last night replays from the main event were shown of how Becky won the titles. The crowd is super hot for Becky. “You deserve it” and “Becky” chants. She also started her own chant "Becky two belts". The Man said that for months Ronda was bragging her accomplishments but at WrestleMania, she was the one standing tall. She said whenever Ronda wants to come after her she will be here ready to knock off her empty head out of her shoulders. And McMahon family might just give Charlotte tag title shot or something to go over her defeat. She said she will break anyone’s arm off who wants to challenge her and poses with the title. Becky is about to leave but Lacey Evans come out to do her catwalk down the ramp. She stood face-to-face with Becky before punching her in the face. Becky got furious and attacked her back leading into a brawl. Lacey was fighting Becky while in heels! Becky tried to lock in the Dis-arm-her but Lacey got away. Referees ran down to stop both of them.
Tumblr media
This was a great promo and great brawl too. After MONTHS, Lacey Evans finally is doing something. I don’t know if she is any good in the ring as I haven’t watched her at NXT, but atleast they are progressing ahead now. Seems like she will be the next challenger for Becky. Rating: 4/5 Aleister Black & Ricochet vs Chad Gable & Bobby Roode Ricochet did a moonsault on the outside to Gable. Black takes out Roode off a hot tag. He deliver his kicks and strikes to roode. Followed by second rope springboard moonsault. Gable did a moonsault on Ricochet but Black breaks the pin. Gable went for rolling German suplex but ricochet lands on his feet. Ricochet hits chad with a kneebreaker to the face for the win. Winner: Ricochet and Aleister Black This was a good match. The crowd was busy doing their Mexican waves through the match but in-ring action was decent. After the match, I think we got a heel turn as Roode laid Ricochet out with just one strike and rolled out. I think a beatdown would have been good to solidify the heel turn. Rating: 3/5 Dean Ambrose vs Bobby Lashely never started This was advertised as Dean’s last match in WWE. Lio is not saying anything despite having the mic. Lashley just asks for the mic to tell Dean not to worry as he will take care of his wife after he is gone. This led to a brawl between the two which ended when Dean was put through the announce table right in front of Renee. She left the commentary to attend to her husband. Lashley’s insult was of the Yo mamma levels. I am thinking he has re-signed with WWE and this is leading to a storyline. Renee even left the commentary team after this. The crowd did chant “Thank You Ambrose” Rating: 2/5 We got Mojo Rawley backstage staring into a broke mirror. He also had his right side of the face painted. I don’t know where this is leading. Sami Zayn Return Sami Zayn gets on the mic and said his schedule is free so anyone of the locker room superstars wanna challenge him he is ready. This was answered by the new Intercontinental champion Finn Balor. The ring announcer also informed us that this is now for the title. Intercontinental  Championship Match: Finn Balor (c) vs Sami Zayn A great sequence between these two as Sami delivered a tornado arm drag followed by strikes and an overhead kick. This was a good match. Finn kicked out of a blue thunder bomb. The finish came when Finn drives Zayn into the corner with a shotgun dropkick followed by Coup De Grace to pin him. Winner: Finn Balor The match was good. Nice exchanges between both of the competitors. Good to see Sami back Rating: 3.5/5 Sami grabbed the mic after the match to say that it genuinely felt like people have missed him. He continued to say that he didn’t miss any of you. WWE is a toxic environment not because of McMahon or anyone in the backstage it is because of every one of you. He went onto say that we judge everyone except ourselves. He was talking a lot of things I didn’t catch. The delivery was good but the content was rubbish. He basically turned heel that’s what I got. He ends it by saying "See you in hell". Rating: 3/5 Backstage interview with Dana she congratulates Becky on being the double champ. She said there is a line forming backstage to face the champ and she may not be in front of it but she is not in the back either. She took too much pause and seemed like robotic. Elias performance Elias said that Cena has interrupted his WrestleMania performance for two years in a row. Then he demonstrates how easy it is to rap and had his last line as “The next one to interrupt me will be a deadman” which got a huge pop from the crowd cause they knew what was coming… GONG! Undertaker returned on Raw! He made his way to the ring giving us goosebumps.
Tumblr media
At first, Elias seemed like he was leaving the ring but he ran straight to taker trying to attack him but ate a boot instead. This followed by chokeslam and Tombstone. This was great. Undertaker returns are always great. I think this sets up  match for future Saudi show? I don't know good to see Taker back Rating:4.5/5 Winner Take All: WWE Champion Kofi Kingston vs Universal Champion Seth Rollins
Tumblr media
The crowd was split between the two champions. Seth caught the springboard cross body attempt into a dropkick. Rollins tried for the curb stomp but Kofi rolled him for a two count. Kofi is on the top rope, Rollins joined him there but got pushed down on the floor. Kofi is still at the top rope seems like he is about to dive but The Bar came from out of nowhere to beatdown both the champions. Winner via DQ: Kofi The faces stand tall at the end of the beatdown. Rollins grabbed the mic and tells Kofi that they will settle this some other time. And challenged the Bar for a tag match. The crowd booed this and called it BS. What was the motive of Bar interfering in the match? This was really BS. The Bar vs Kofi Kingston & Seth Rollins Rollins and Kofi work over the heel. Kofi hit Sheamus with an SOS but Cesaro breaks it up. He went for a trust fall on the Bar. But got caught Rollins drives them through with a suicide dive. The Bar hit Kofi with double white noise but Rollins drives Sheamus into the Cesaro to break the pin. Crowd were chanting random things and weren’t into this match at all. Trouble in Paradise followed by Curb Stomp to Sheamus for the win. Winner: Kofi Kingston & Seth Rollins The babyfaces celebrated and gave each other a fist bump to close the show. This was a very rubbish ending to an otherwise good show. I enjoyed some of the stuff on it but the main event sucked. Why would the Bar interrupt the match? Why did they book such an awesome match and then end it too quickly into a meaningless tag team match? The wrestling was good but the booking was terrible. Rating: 1/5 Overall the show was good. But just like yesterday the ending damaged a good show. Loved the opening promo, Becky segment, Taker & Sami's return. Just the ending was a bunch of BS. Raw Rating: 3.5/5 That was our Raw Review. WWE SmackDown Results and Review: April 2nd, 2019
Tumblr media
The Kevin Owens show with Randy Orton and AJ Styles Kevin Owens is already in the ring as SmackDown begins. He introduces his two guests as they come out. When asked by Owens, Orton said he is proud of saving the WWE universe from a washed out Olympic gold medalist beating down a guy who still think he is the best. Styles said that Orton has learned only one move in WWE after all these years, a great move but just one. Orton then cut a fiery promo saying when AJ was fighting in front of dozens in bingo hall, he was headlining WrestleMania every year in front of tens of thousands of people. Styles acknowledged that Yes Orton was in WWE. Failing Drug tests! Oh, snap! Orton said that Styles has taken the role of John Cena in WWE. He has become a corporate b*tch. Kevin Owens just stands up and leaves, which was really funny. Styles and Orton get into a brawl which ended with Orton standing tall after hitting an RKO to a Phenomenal Forearm attempt by AJ.
Tumblr media
Randy Orton was very passionate delivering his promo. Some real shots were fired there. I didn’t think that this feud could have gotten this hot. This was a homerun segment. They Couldn’t have had a better go-home angle for this feud. Rating: 5/5 8 Man Tag Team Match: The Usos, Aleister Black & Ricochet vs  The Bar, Shinsuke Nakamura & Rusev The babyfaces work over Sheamus for some time. Then Sheamus makes a comeback turning the tables in favour of the heels. Rusev threw Jey into the steps and then into the barricade in the outside. They keep working on Jey for a while before he could hot tag to his brother. Jimmy hits a Superkick to Rusev. All the competitors get in the ring to hit each other with Kicks and big moves. The Usos hit double superkick to Rusev for the win. Winner: The Usos, Aleister Black & Ricochet Alexa Bliss comes out next. She gets some heat from the crowd and said that the last week Usos forfeited the match which calls for repercussions. So Usos will defend the SmackDown tag team titles against everyone they shared the ring with, in a four-way match. This leads to an all-out brawl between all of the teams. Richochet and Black stands tall after Ricochet takes everyone out with a senton on the outside. The match and the brawl afterwards was fine. Not something too amazing. But that is just the state of WWE’s tag team division. Rating: 3/5 The IIconics Promo The IIconics cone out to hype their four-way match at WrestleMania. They randomly pointed out that the state of the SmackDown Men's tag team is great, which is not true. I loved how they kept saying WrestleMania. They say it with the same tone they say ICONIC. They say them winning the WWE Women’s title will make the WrestleMania ICONIC! The IIconics were great. They usually are but it was too short to get me interested in it. Rating: 2.5/5 Miz comes out next for his handicap match set up by Shane McMahon. But before the match, he cuts a promo. He said that WrestleMania means different things to different people. For him WrestleMania means retribution. He said he will bring the best Miz and he will beat down Shane anywhere and everywhere in the falls count anywhere match. Miz said that he will fight for his dad's honour this Sunday and then fire shots, “Hey Shane, you got a father. Well that just makes you a son of a bitch.” I was like Woooah! After he said that. Not a shock here. Miz is good on the mic Rating: 3.5/5 1-on-3 Handicap Match: The The Miz  vs  Sanity Before the match could start Shane comes out. He tells Greg Hamilton to officially introduce him and said he just wants to look this match up close but then went backstage... I didn't understand that. Back from a commercial and the Miz is making a comeback.  Shane comes out and says that this match, same as this Sunday is now a falls count anywhere match. He also puts up a photo of him squeezing Mr potato face Miz's Dad. The match goes to the backstage area with Young. Killian Dane also joined them but Miz is still fighting back. The fight goes in the parking lot. Miz drives a trolly onto Young’s arm for the win. Winner: The Miz We see Shane leaving the arena in his car giving Miz a smile while Miz just looks on with a frown. This build to the match was OK we don’t see any crazy stuff happening in the backstage bits. It was fine. Rating: 3/5 We are still in the parking lot, a police car arrives in the arena. It was Becky Lynch who got out of the back of the car. So many questions arise there. Why the police gave Becky a ride at her work? Was that the DC police driving her all the way to Baltimore? If yes, why were they there? Well I guess you have to stop finding logic now. It was just there to give a cool entrance to Becky Lynch. Becky Lynch Promo
Tumblr media
Becky gets on top of the commentary table. She says a year has changed a lot of things. Last year this time Ronda was making her WWE Debut and Charlotte and she was best friends. When it was written in the stars that Charlotte and Rousey will the main event this year's WrestleMania, she stepped up. She has earned that main event spot over the last year. She claims that the next time they will see her on SmackDown. she will be the champ she always knew she was. Double Champ. It was a promo just to have something for the video package this Sunday. Becky is still over with the fans as the fans kept chanting her name through her promo. That is still good to see after all the booking she has been through. Rating: 3/5 18 Person Mixed Tag Team Match You don’t expect me to write all of the names, do you? They kept saying this was history making but I just felt sad for the people in the ring. This was all your undercard and NXT call-ups right there. Lacey Evans comes out again midway in the match. I have no clue what they are doing with her or any of the talent in the ring. Ottis’ worm didn’t even get that big of a pop. I thought this would just lead to an all-out brawl as soon as it starts but it happened later than I expected. Result: No Contest The brawl kept going. And hey Asuka was there too. I almost forgot about her. What a shame. Asuka needs to win this. It is the least they could do, not that it would do anything for her but still. The brawl ended with Jeff and Asuka standing tall but Asuka just eliminated him as well. I would have been so mad if Asuka and Jeff randomly become friends for this random segment on SmackDown. Whatever man, as I said in the Raw review I couldn’t care less about these battle royals Rating: 2/5 United States Champion Samoa Joe vs Ali They forgot to remove Mustafa from the side LED screen on the ring. And also a man just went past the camera when Ali was making his entrance. That entrance was full of botches. I thought Ali will job to Joe building Joe up for the match this Sunday but he was giving him a great fight. He dominated most of the match. Hits a suicide dive on the outside. But Joe made his comeback when he moved out of a 450 splash to lock in the Coquina Clutch. Ali passes out to hand over the win to the champion. Winner: Samoa Joe It should have been a multi-man ladder match for the US title and guys like Ali and Andrade should have been in it. It should be a fun match between Joe and Rey but they haven’t had a SINGLE segment together since the match was announced. How am I supposed to be hyped for the match? Rating: 2/5 WWE Championship Match Contract Signing Raw’s Michael Cole was conducting this contract signing for a SmackDown match. WWE just doesn’t care about brand split now. He didn't even do anything in this segment.
Tumblr media
Bryan signs the contract and tells Kofi that he is not here to stop him from signing the contract. He is here to educate the masses. The crowd is super hot for Kofi. They chanted, “Kofi rocks” and “KofiMania”. Daniel Bryan goes on to give us life lessons. He said do not be complacent like Kofi Kingston. Don’t be a bystander in your own life and don’t wait for other people to push you to the top as Kofi did. Kofi had Big E and Woods and all the ignorant people like us to push him to the top. His final life lesson was to Kofi. He said don’t misunderstand fad for reality. He had the same Yes chants as Kofi has now. Once the fans are done fulfilling their fantasy they will feed on you. Kofi stands up and said that it is his time to educate Daniel Bryan. Bryan doesn’t understand what he went through. Daniel become the WWE champion within 2 years being here. Kofi was not a bystander. He watched it all and Bryan knows that Kofi is ready. He is scared because he know what it feels like to be in his shoes. And he is scared of what happens next. He signs the contract and both the competitors stare at each other to close out the show. Kofi has been listening to all things said to him calmly for the past few weeks. But he finally cut a promo and hell, it was great. The crowd is so much behind Kofi. Kofi telling Bryan that he knows what happens next was just great! Rating: 4/5 SmackDown once again proved that it is better than Raw. Almost all the SmackDown feuds had a great go-home angle. I like most of the show, the only thing lacking was great wrestling which is fine because you are building to the biggest wrestling event there is. Now I can't wait for WrestleMania. SmackDown Rating: 4.5/5 That was our review of SmackDown Live. Don't forget to read our fantasy booking of Kurt Angle Retirement and give us suggestions for future Fantasy Happening. WWE Raw Highlights & Review: April 1st, 2019
Tumblr media
Stephanie McMahon makes an announcement Stephanie comes out to open Raw and made an April fool’s joke about her being the fourth competitor in the main event this Sunday. She goes on to announce that it will be the winner takes all in the main event as all the titles will be on the line. I think we all saw it coming. Now the question is will they unify the belts or just have the champion defend both of them separately. It was just an announcement rather than a promo. So no rating here. Seth Rollins confronts Brock Lesnar Heyman and Lesnar came out next to cut a promo. Heyman said that Stephanie saying Winner takes all is poetic justice as the winner(pointing at Brock) will take all Rollins have to offer. He reminds us that Lesnar conquered the streak at Mania and defeated Roman Reigns last year. Both get superheat from the crowd. He says that Rollins is just an afterthought to Brock. And this Sunday the Universal championship match will end with Seth's chest below Brock's feet and title above his head. I guess they just reused this line from Becky Lynch promo last week. “Burn it down”  Rollins comes out and says the raw after Mania Brock will no longer be holding the Raw locker room hostage. It maybe improbable for Rollins to win but it is not impossible. Lesnar is just laughing at Seth’s face. Heyman is shouting on themay beide, “He is a funny guy”. Lesnar just shoulder bumps Seth and is walking out but he is taken out by Rollins who hits him with a low blow. Lesnar hits a German and went for an F5 but Rollins counter and hits him with a low blow again. He hits the curb stomp and stands tall with the Universal title.
Tumblr media
Not a fan of Rollins hitting Lesnar with a low blow as he is supposed to be a babyface here. That also proves that Seth can’t beat Lesnar without hitting him in the balls. It doesn’t make me believe that Rollins can beat Lesnar on his own. The promo work was good though. Rating: 3.5/5 8 Women Tag Team Match: Women's Tag Team Champions Boss & Hug connection, Natalya & Beth Phoenix vs The IIconics, Nia Jax & Tamina Beth is competing on Raw after 6 years. Nia & Tamina and the IIconics are already in the ring getting the jobber entrance. Michael Cole said that Beth is the only women to compete in both men and women Royal Rumble matches. Did he forgot about Nia Jax just this year? IIconics are great in this match as they do their iconic pose midway in the match while Bayley is out. Peyton went to tag Nia and Tamina but they just jump out of the apron denying to be in the match. Bayley went to tag Sasha in but she is pushed down by Beth. Beth tags herself in. She went to the ropes but Tamina pulled the second rope down to drive her to the floor. Beth spears Tamina through the barricade into the time keeper’s area. The crowd chants “Holysh*t” and “You still got it” to this amazing spot. Natalya, Sasha and Bayley are just looking on over the other side of the ring looking concerned. If you are that concerned just go to her. Peyton takes the glamazon back to the ring. Beth hits her with the glam slam for the win. Both the babyface teams stand face to face after the match. Winner: Boss & Hug , Natalya & Beth Phoenix It did a good job hyping the match this Sunday there is a very less storyline going into the match but I do enjoy random big spots and good to see the glamazon back in the ring. Rating: 3/5 Batista Live
Tumblr media
Batista got cheered at his hometown of Washington as he comes out to cut a promo. This was a different promo than usual as the lights went out and the only spotlight was on Batista in the ring as one of the Elias’ performances. The crowd chants "Welcome back". He gets the mic to his face and points at the titantron. A video package plays which shows Batista beating Triple H every single time they had a match and only had one line in the whole video repeating over and over again. That was what Batista said to Triple H on SmackDown 1000 never defeating him. Back in the ring Batista looks directly into the camera and says just three words to Hunter, “Kiss my ass” and drops the mic he even gives some fans at the ringside high fives which were not very heel thing to do. To be honest I loved the promo. I was like woah after he dropped the mic after just three words. But for a go home angle, I would have liked if both competitors would have been there. Maybe just to have a face-off or Triple H comes out to just beat down Batista. Rating: 3.5/5 Elias is outside Metlife stadium. He said he will be headlining WrestleMania with his musical act where there will be no interruptions and the crowd singing “Oh walk with Elias” He says that he will be the only talk of Wrestlemania this Sunday. Well, I am guessing Cena will make a random appearance and will interrupt Elias. Apollo Crews vs Jinder Mahal The ring is weirdly surrounded with the undercard like the Ascension EC3 and even Tyler Breeze was there. Apollo just won with a frog splash. Nothing big in the match Winner: Apollo Crews The trophy was brought on the apron for Apollo to pose with it. Everyone gets in the ring and brawls and sends each other over tge top rope to the hype for the Battle Royal. Crews and Jinder with Singh Brothers are the last ones in the ring. The latter is thrown out of the ring by Crews. The trophy is again brought up on the apron for Crews to pose with. Graves predicted that Che will win the ATG battle royal and to be honest that is a possibility. I just don’t care about this battle royal the winners have no great track records after they won. And beside Braun that’s all your undercard and people I have not seen for months. Why should I care? Rating: 1.5/5 Kurt made his last appearence on Raw The crowd chanted “Thank you Kurt" before he could say anything. He basically thanks the crowd for always cheering and booing him. The announcer focuses everyone’s attention to the titantron. Kurt seemed shocked by this and seemed like it was a genuine surprise for him too. A great video package with all of his career highlights was shown. You can watch the video on wwe.com and also on their official youtube channel. Back in the ring Kurt is filled with tears. Corbin comes out to interrupt the moment. Kurt seems genuinely pissed and I think he is. Corbin says that Kurt can’t stand with the superstars of today. He is just getting slower and can’t last with him. He said he is pissed with everyone filling his DMs saying Kurt deserves someone better as his last opponent. The crowd chants "Yes he does”. Angle challenges Corbin for an exhibition match right now. Corbin does the usual heel move where he teased to get in the ring but backed out. He said that if he gets in the ring Kurt won’t make it to this Sunday. Mysterio comes out and challenges Corbin on Kurt’s behalf. Corbin just attacks Mysterio but he is taken out by Kurt with an Angle Slam. The video package was great, highlighting Kurt’s career. I thought we were getting Angle vs Mysterio tonight? In my opinion, Kurt was for real pissed at Corbin. I still can’t believe they are going on with this match. Do you want to know how I would have had Kurt’s farewell match? Read it here. As for this segment, I just want Corbin to leave my TV screen. Rating: 3/5 Charlie interviews Charlotte backstage. She said she will be the one taking it all at the main event if WrestleMania. Charlie did mention the weird stipulation in the 6 woman tag match later on the night that whoever betrays their team first will be pulled from the main event this Sunday. She said she is not like Ronda or Becky. She is cool-headed. Raw Tag Team Championship Match: The Revival (c) vs Aleister Black & Ricochet The Revival once again didn’t get any entrances. Just give your champions an entrance. The Revival works over Ricochet for a while but he is taken out by a double huricanrana by him. That leads to a comeback by the babyfaces.  Revival works over Aleister black now. His arm is injured and he can’t get much offence in. This leads into Ricochet hot tag. He keeps rolling over Wilder for two counts. Wilder drives ricochet face first into the mat after he was punched by Dawson from the outside. But a two count. The Revival is working over Black but he fights back  with a boot to Dawson and a tornado DDT to Wilder. Ricochet also dives over the turnbuckle to hit them with his insane dive. The referee is counting out. Wilder made back in the ring but from under the ring Dawson grabs Ricochet’s leg denying him to get back inside handing Revival the win. Winner via count out and still the Raw Tag Team Champions: The Revival This was a good match. I guess Revival won’t be defending those titles at Mania. Well, they at least got to retain the titles. I thought Ricochet and Black were going to win for a moment. Rating:  3.5/5 After the match, Wilder is taken out with the Black Mask and Dawson is hit with a 630. Ronda is air punching backstage when she is approached by Charlie. She said she doesn’t want to talk but goes on to talk anyway. She said this Sunday will be the judgement day for both of her competitors. But if they try anything in the match later the judgement day will be tonight. Roman is getting interviewed backstage. When asked about the rumours of him not being 100% for this Sunday, he said he is going to end the rumours from the source and beat down Drew. Mcintyre beats down Roman from behind and leaves him struggling. Becky Lynch, SmackDown Women's Champion Charlotte Flair & Raw Women's Champion Ronda Rousey vs The Riott Squad Before the match, Charlie is in the gorilla interviewing Lynch. She said she will be the first ever RAW and SD champion this Sunday at WrestleMania. She will break the god complex of Ronda. Becky also said that she has been screwed by the McMahon family in the past and she has no choice but to walk out with every gold to deny the McMahons further screwing her. In the match, Lynch tags herself in by just slapping Charlotte on the back. She mocks charlotte’s walk and told her to punch her, which will, of course, take her out of the WrestleMania main event as per the stipulation of the match. Becky is getting worked by the Riott squad. I think this is her punishment for the Twitter exchange with the rivals. Charlotte tags herself in. She gets on the face of Becky but Ronda tags herself in. Morgan tried to roll Ronda up but she just slams Morgan on the mat and locks the Armbar for the win. Winner: Becky, Charlotte and Ronda As soon as the match ends, Ronda started beating Charlotte. Becky joins in to beat them as well. Security ran down to separate them but they all just beat down the security to have a shot at each other. The cops came out and handcuffs all three of them. Why were the cops out I still have no clue? All three of them are still trying to fight the cops resisting arrest.
Tumblr media
Backstage the cops lead them to the car and they have Becky and Ronda in the same car. They both looked at each other and then started to fight each other with the kicks. Ronda just broke the window of the car with a kick. The cops take Becky out of the car. Charlotte then comes out of the other car and kicks Lynch. Then we see Ronda just getting on the driver seat and driving it straight to the other car in front of it. She couldn’t steer as she was stil handcuffed. The brawl was great. I absolutely loved the brawl. Especially with the handcuffs on but why were they handcuffed in the first place? Many people find it funny. And while reading this again I am laughing too. There was no logic there just a big spectacle. But I would let it slip at least I am invested in the blood feud among these three. Rating: 4.5/5 Handicap Match: Braun Strowman vs Jobbers Strowman just screams at them saying you’re Colin Jost and Michael Che. He just bulldozed them over in this match. Runs around the ring for shoulder tackle twice. Throws them in the ring clothesline in the corner. Powerslams both of them one at a time and then a double powerslam with each of them on each shoulder. The End. Winner: Braun Strowman Whatever I can’t care less for this “feud” and the Battle Royal. Rating: 2/5 Bobby Lashley Interview Bobby Lashley and Lio Rush are in the ring next to have an interview with Charlie. Charlie shows the replay of how Finn earned the title shot against Bobby before asking Lashley that is he concerned. Rush says that Balor didn’t pin Lashley and he is just dead weight. Charlie asked Lashley about the rumours the Demon being there this Sunday. Lashley replied that Finn Balor is Demon and Demon is Finn Balor. He has defeated Finn Balor and he will do it same with the Demon. Finn appeared on the titantron saying some jibberish about his Demons being Lashley’s nightmare. I didn’t understand it. But he got covered with smoke and when the smoke settled it was the Demon. It was confirmed that the Demon will face off with Lashley for the IC title I had no clue what was Balor talking about. But at least the Demon is gonna be there. The entrance will be grand. This segment was no good, unfortunately. Rating: 2.5/5 Rey Mysterio vs Baron Corbin Corbin is working over Rey after Rey had some offence, in the beginning, cause… he is small. He just works over him for a LOOOOONG time. Rey finally had some comeback and hit Rey with a tilt a whirl DDT. He hit Corbin with a 619 and went for a splash from the top rope but Corbin rolled out. Corbin hit Rey with a deep six for the win. Winner: Baron Corbin This being in the main event gave me hope that maybe someone will come out to take out Corbin out of the match this Sunday. But after the match, Kurt Angle came out and locks in the Anklelock on Corbin where he tapped. This was your last TV segment before WrestleMania on Raw. Rubbish.
Tumblr media
Rating: 2/5 I only loved two segments. The women's brawl and the Batista promo. It's astonishing how I don't care about many matches in the WrestleMania card. Any other day it would have been an average show but you expect more from the go-home show for freaking WRESTLEMANIA. Raw Rating: 2/5 That was our review of the show. WWE SmackDown Live - 19/03/19: Highlights & Review
Tumblr media
The Miz kicks-off SmackDown Live The Miz comes out and cued a video package that showed us the footage of previous week of Fastlane and SmackDown Live when Shane turned on Miz and made the match against him for WrestleMania. Back live, Miz said he has sacrificed every relationship over the years for his road to WrestleMania. He teamed up with Shane only to make his Dad proud. People warned Miz to watch yourself, but he didn't listen to them. He said to Shane, "You were not born the Best in the World, you are a McMahon you were born the worst."  He said you don’t own me or Kofi. The crowd cheered. He said that he wasn’t born rich he worked hard to achieve his success. Over the course of 13 years he have earned every bit of respect that he have now. The crowd chants "You deserve it". Miz replied You are damn right I do, and Shane deserves the ass whopping that he will give him at WrestleMania.
Tumblr media
A great promo by Miz. He was very passionate about it. Well acted and very well delivered from. He also had this awesome line which could easily be a stolen inspirational quote but I loved it: Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard enough. Rating: 4/5 WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Banks & Bayley vs IIconics IIconics cut a promo while they made their entrance. They said that the Banks and Bayley tried to stay at home turf, even going back to NXT. Then they got chaffed off by Nia and Tamina on Raw. According to them, they have saved the best for the last as they finally decide to come to SmackDown Live and the last will be Iconic. The crowd chanted for Bayley. Bayley is dominating the match against Billie Kay. Lacey Evans made her appearance just to walk back. I totally forgot that she didn't do it on Raw. The distraction allowed IIconics to take the upper edge and beat down Bayley. IIconics work over  Bayley. This led to the hot tag to Sasha. Sasha led the comeback against Peyton. She tried to rally the crowd but only a mild cheer. She hit her double knees from the top rope. Billie Kay held Banks' leg back. Bayley came out to save but ate a kick by Billie. As Peyton went for the pin Billie holds Sasha's hand for the win Winner: IIconics It was a fine match. IIconics got the win to put them over as the fourth contender for the possible four corner tag team match at Mania. But the thing is that I am not invested in it. Rating: 3/5 Rey Mysterio has an interview backstage. He introduced us to his son who is grown to be way taller than him. He said that he will face Samoa Joe for the US title at WrestleMania. His son got some mic time saying that Joe is a bully and his dad will beat him down to win the US title at mania as he will be sitting in the front row. The Kevin Owens show with Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair Kevin Owens wore a red tie and a suit for the return of the Kevin Owens show on SmackDown Live. He welcomed us to the new and improved KO show.  He started with some humor. And as every face should, he mentioned that he is rooting for Kofi in the main event. He proceeds to welcome “The Man” Becky Lynch out to the ring. The crowd cheered and then booed for the next guest who was Charlotte. Both the women sat down across the table. The crowd chanted Becky. Kevin said that he knows how best friends can get under your skin. Owens read some of the statements made by Ronda to Becky from the KO cue cards. Then he tried to set fire between his two guests by saying the statements made by them to each other. Owens told them that no one wants to see them talk anymore. Everyone wants to see them fight. Charlotte said that she will beat the holy hell out of Becky. Before Becky could reply Owens just went out of the ring instead of just disappearing. Becky attacked Charlotte and an all-out brawl starts between the two. They traded punches and kicks on one another. Charlotte even slapped one of the security guards who ran down there to separate the two.
Tumblr media
Kevin Owens was great in the segment. He was really funny and come out as a great face. The brawl between the two women will really help rebuild some of the lost hype of this feud. Great segment overall. Rating: 4/5 Kayla is backstage with AJ Styles. He said that Orton may have an advantage over him. It is his home ground after all. But at WrestleMania, he is not going to build he is going to tear the house down. And as every face should. He mentions he is rooting for Kofi in the main event. Daniel Bryan Promo Before the gauntlet match starts Daniel Bryan cuts a promo. He said that Kofi being in the gauntlet match is an injustice to him. He reminded everyone that Kofi has never earned a shot for his title. Kofi was handpicked out of the tag team division and given a title shot at Elimination Chamber from nowhere. He did fight valiantly in the previous gauntlet match and at Elimination Chamber but he lost. So he has not earned anything. It doesn’t matter how much they chant Kofi (which they weren't but started chanting after this), he is a B+ player at best. He has earned nothing. It was a good promo by Bryan. And the B+ line was only there to get heat from the crowd. It also shows the hypocrisy of Bryan as he was considered a B+ back in the authority days. Rating: 3.5/5 New day’s music interrupts Bryan. Big E and Woods hugged Kofi before going back and left Kofi to fight on his own. The Bar came out next. Kofi will face one of them to start the gauntlet. Gauntlet Match Kofi Kingston vs Sheamus I thought that Rowan will start the match that is why he and Bryan came out first, but whatever. The commentator made us know that the rest of the New Day is barred from ringside. That made sense. I was like why they left Kofi to fight alone. The crowd chants, "You look stupid" to Sheamus. Kofi is laughing at this. Kofi throws Sheamus outside and trust falls on him over the top rope. As the ref was ushing back Sheamus from the ropes, Cesaro uppercuts Kofi for a two count.  Every comeback attempt from kofi was shot down by Sheamus so far. Kofi does the Boom/New Day drop. Sheamus caught Kofi attempting the Trouble in Paradise. He tried to go for cloverleaf, but Kofi countered. Top rope crossbody by Kofi for a two count. Sheamus hits him with an Irish curse backbreaker led by the cloverleaf. Kofi smartly countered it to a pin attempt but a kick out. The Usos joins the New Day backstage watching the match. Sheamus went for the Brogue Kick. Kofi countered with a roll up. Sheamus kicks out but is taken down by the Trouble in Paradise instantly after. Sheamus is eliminated. Backstage the Hardys and Mustafa Ali joins to watch Kofi’s match. Kofi Kingston vs Cesaro Cesaro hits some uppercuts to start things off. Kofi attempts springboard move but Cesaro caught him and hit him with a backbreaker.
Tumblr media
Cesaro does the swing to Kofi. He transitioned it into a cloverleaf instantly. Kofi grabs Cesaro’s leg and tried to roll him but Cesaro countered it into a suplex. He went for the Neutraliser. Kofi counters and hits SOS for the pin. Cesaro is eliminated Didn’t like how Kofi just hit one move to win against Cesaro. He should have had some more offence in the match. Kofi Kingston vs Rowan Rowan starts with a wicked clothesline. Followed by another clothesline on the outside. He just kept slamming Kofi over to the barricade. Rowan grabbed a chair and beat kofi with it to get disqualified Rowan is eliminated The 7-foot monster continued to beat Kofi even after he is eliminated. Backstage the new day is not happy with some more babyface joining them. Rowan put Kofi through the announce table with the Iron Claw laying him out. Kofi Kingston vs Samoa Joe The match got started in the break. Joe dominates Kofi for the majority if the match. Joe denied Kofi's comeback with a clothesline that turned him 180. The camera cuts backstage with more babyfaces watching the match now. Joe went for coquina clutch but Kofi countered with a stunner. Joe comes back with an urinagi. Kofi tried to come back but he is just too exhausted. Joe went for a  muscle buster but Kofi countered with a roll up to eliminate Joe. Samoa joe is eliminated
Tumblr media
Backstage everyone is celebrating. Joe is furious and applies the coquina clutch through the ropes to choke Kofi out. Kofi Kingston vs Randy Orton Orton is working over Kofi. He calls Kofi stupid (flashbacks). Kofi throw him to the steel steps but Kofi doesn’t have enough left to make it count. Commentators acknowledged this being poetic justice when back in 2010 Orton stopped the ascend of Kofi in his feud. Orton just dominated the match. Orton went for RKO Kofi countered and hit Trouble in Paradise but he doesn't have enough left to go for the cover. He tried to crawl to go for the cover but Orton rolled out of the ring. Orton gets back in the match. Kofi has been in the match for 50+ minutes by this point. Orton hits his signature rope DDT. Orton went for the RKO but kofi rolled him over for the win. Winner: Kofi Kingston The new day comes out to congratulate Kofi and lifts him up on their shoulders and points at the WrestleMania sign. The crowd is celebrating with the New Day... But it is interrupted by Vince's Music. Vince McMahon comes out to congratulate Kofi and tells him that Kofi is going to WrestleMania as soon as he beats this one last man. Big E and Woods must leave now as they are still barred. Bryan comes out as the last man Kofi must face. Kofi Kingston vs Daniel Bryan
Tumblr media
Bryan laid his kicks in the corner. The crowd chants NO to every kick. Bryan hits Kofi with a Back suplex from the top rope. He locks in the LeBell lock but Kofi forces a ropebreak. The crowd is super hot by this moment. Kofi tried to hit SOS but didn’t get all of it as he couldn’t roll over. This allowed Bryan to kick out. Bryan hits his running kicks to the corner led by stomps on kofi’s head. He does his Yes chants to call out for the running knee. He hits it and pins Kofi for the win. Winner: Daniel Bryan The individual matches may not be great. But they were average or sub-par at best but the story of told throughout. Kofi being too exhausted and finally beating all odds inky to get screwed by Vince yet again. This was great. I was genuinely heartbroken when Bryan pinned Kofi to lay him out. I am pretty sure he is going to get his match but I got worked at that moment and hated Vince, just what they wanted. Rating: 4/5 This was a very enjoyable episode of SmackDown Live. The promos were good. The wrestling was fine if not superb. And it gets me excited for next week. How will Kofi get added to the match? It is getting really interesting. It is funny how Raw just makes me want to kill myself while watching wrestling but SmackDown Live just reminds me why I love wrestling so much. SmackDown Live Rating: 4.5/5 Check out the previous night's Raw Review here. Also, check out previous SmackDown Live reviews here. Read the full article

Raw Review 22/04/19: New Contender for Universal Title!!
Tumblr media
Welcome to Happenabler's Raw Review of 22nd April 2019. There is a new Contender for Seth Rollins Universal Championship. And some bizarre new names and gimmicks have been introduced with Bray Wyatt. So here is the Raw Review. Triple H and Seth Rollins opens Raw Triple H comes out to open the show. While he is making his way to the ring we got informed that there are two triple threat matches tonight. The winner of both the matches will fight in the main event to determine Seth Rollins’ Money in the Bank opponent. As Triple H is still grabbing a mic Rollins also joins him in the ring. Rollins said it is still surreal to him after all he had been through. He said he has brought the title to his home state. Triple H said now the landscape has changed after the superstar Shake-up. He should be ready for his next challenger. Triple H then just repeated what we already knew about how Seth’s title contender will be determined. This brought out all the 6 superstars involved in two matches. They all said basically the same thing that they deserve the title shot. Rollins said that it doesn’t matter which one of them he faces at MITB because he is Seth Freakin’ Rollins and he is going to Burn it Down. The promos were good here. All did their best but I am not a fan of everyone coming out one by one and taking turns to speak. That feel so much scripted and staged. It was good to see the crowd super hot in the beginning, cheering and booing very loud. We will see if they can keep up by the end of the night... Segment Rating: 3/5 AJ Styles def. United States Champion Samoa Joe and Rey Mysterio This was an awesome match. I really loved the chemistry between these three. Any combination worked in the ring. Even all three of them at the same time as we saw towards the end. There were some awesome spots in the match like when Rey and Styles went over the top rope. It seemed like Rey was going for a suplex on the floor. But Joe joined them at the top and got each of them on his shoulder and tossed them down the ring. Rey had both Joe and AJ in 619 positions. He delivered the 619 on Joe and went for a springboard hurricanrana on Styles. AJ caught him and delivered a powerbomb followed by a Styles Clash, both on top of Joe. Styles pin Joe to win the match. This is the only complaint I have. In my opinion, Rey took most of those moves and he should have been the one to get pinned instead of Joe. But anyways, a heck of a match. Match Rating: 4/5 Naomi def. Billie Kay The IIconics made some jokes before the match. Their laugh at their own jokes was funnier than the jokes itself. The crowd joined in on the IICONIC moment which was good to see. The match was over in a blink. Peyton tried to interfere but Naomi takes both of them out and rolled Billie over for the win. I don’t know where they are heading with Naomi. She will just get a random partner in the Raw roster to challenge for the Tag Titles. The only good thing was IIconins’ promo before the match which always is. Match Rating: 2/5 Baron Corbin def. The Miz and Drew McIntyre Corbin and Drew teamed up for a while to beat down Miz. But Miz fought back. There was a cool spot when Drew had got Miz in a white noise position on the ropes in the corner. Corbin joined in and got Drew in a powerbomb position. This was an interesting variation of the tower of doom. At one point Miz Figure four locked in on Drew for a very long time but he didn't tap. Drew got out of the lock with a thumb to the eye. Drew delivered a Claymore from out of nowhere to Miz but before he could pin him, Corbin pushed him out to go for the cover himself. That was one way to protect Drew. Corbin got a lot of heat from the crowd. I think he is not a bad choice now. The match wasn’t that good as it's counterpart but it still was a good match. Match Rating:3.5/5 Sami Zayn Promo Sami Zayn came out to say basically the same thing he has been saying for the past two weeks. He was very happy being away from the WWE Universe. It was the best time of his life. He went on to show his Instagram photos when he was injured, traveling around the world. Zayn told everyone, he was very happy but when he got cleared to wrestle again he got depressed. It wasn’t the corporate structure or other backstage superstars. It was the “WWE Universe”. He said he will rather be in Switzerland, Sweden or Mexico rather than the depressing town of Iowa. This got the most heat from the crowd. He went on and said that they should take a trip… to Hell! This was a great promo. It dragged a little long but a great delivery by Zayn. I don't know where is it leading but we will see. Promo Rating: 3.5/5 Cesaro def. Cedric Alexander Cesaro is on Raw? Well OK. These two can really pull off a corker if given time and freedom. It was an interesting match to book as they both could have done something with a win under their belt. I hope Cesaro get a singles push on Raw and I feel the same about Cedric. Cedric didn't look weak in defeat so I have no problem with Cesaro winning here. Match Rating: 2.5/5 The Usos are backstage with Charlie Caruso. They made some jokes about Raw Tag Teams and also on the drink & drive (a shot at thier real life arrest). They were interrupted by the Revival who said the Usos were undoubtedly the best tag team on SmackDown but this is Raw and they are the top guys around here. The tag team division on Raw has some potential bit we will see if they can capitalise on this. Viking Raiders beat down Lucha House Party Yes, they are called the Viking Raiders now. But don’t worry your favorite name isn’t going anywhere cause we have got it as their finisher name. Raiders delivered the Viking Experience which is the pop-up power slam, to Kalisto in the end. I don’t know what is going on here. The Viking Raiders is much better than Viking Experience but they don’t have their NXT Tag Titles with them and they are heels in the main roster? I can’t wait to see the main roster to botch these guys. Segment Rating: 1.5/5 Becky Lynch vs Alicia Fox Before the match, Becky cut a promo saying she has beaten some blondes who are favored backstage. Evans came out to teach Becky some lessons. They basically said they will beat each other up. Nothing sort of note here I thought it was going to be a squash match but Alicia Fox got a lot of offense in here. This dragged on for too long. Becky made Fox tap out to win. But as the Dis-Arm-Her was still in Lacy Evans came from no where to deliver a Woman’s Right to Becky and followed it with another one to keep her laying in the ring. Meh. Segment Rating: 2/5 Ricochet vs Robert Roode They changed Bobby Roode’s name to Robert Roode. It’s a little odd to suddenly change someone’s name but no major problems here. But there were problems when they didn't give any explanation to why he did it. There was a wwe.com interview with Roode but it doesn’t even mention the name thing. Names are changing without explanations here. This was another match that dragged on for too long. Roode won with the glorious DDT to Ricochet. The only talking point was the name change of Bobby Roode. Many think it is terrible but I don’t think it is that bad. I just don’t like it being changed without any explanation. Match Rating: 2/5 Fireflies Funhouse Bray Wyatt is back! And he is a loving cheerful guy who loves kids now. It was skit with him introducing his new friends, the buzzard and the witch to the kids. He said he had been a very bad guy in the past but he had left it behind. He grabbed a chainsaw and cut the cardboard picture of his previous self. This was an interesting gimmick change for Bray Wyatt. There were some shades that he might lose it at any moment. I think this has some real potential with Bray’s past haunting him down. Segment Rating: 3/5 AJ Styles def. Baron Corbin This was the weakest match of the bunch. Styles kicked out of a Deep Six. Corbin stomped Styles head on the mat to get out of the Calf Crusher. Corbin went for a top rope move but Styles moved out of the way. And delivered a phenomenal forearm to win the match. After the match, Rollins comes out to Shake hands with Styles. It will be a great match. Styles vs Rollins at MITB. Can’t wait. I really thought they may have Corbin win here with some shenanigans. And might hold off on Styles vs Rollins till summer slam. But no problems here. I just can’t wait! Match Rating: 2.5/5 Raw Review - Final Opinion Overall this was a average show. It had a great opener. A lot of talking points – new challenger being determined, some name changes, Bray Wyatt's new gimmick. But the wrestling was a little lacky after the opening match. The matches were too long. That’s what you suffer from when you have 3 hours to fill. But overall I am happy with the booking decisions and did I mention I can’t wait for Styles vs Rollins?
