Kazul is such an amazingly polite snake. We have a little morning (well, 11am-noon) ritual where after she notices I’ve come out and sat down on the couch, she will come out and press up against the glass with her nose and belly.

this is her signal to me that she wants the door OPENED! And so I will go over and unlatch the door and then go sit back down on the couch again. And she will poke her little head out and sit there, maybe stretch her neck so she can sniff a leaf or (in todays case) put 7-8 inches of neck out to look straight at the floor and check out what’s going on out of her usual line of sight. She’ll do a lap of her tank then come back to the front and look out a little longer, until she decides she’s done and goes back into one of her hides, at which point I close the door again. she’s never once tried to escape while I’m not looking or knock things over, even if I forget it’s open and wander away to do a chore and come back an hour later to see it’s still open (oops).

Sometimes I put a drying rack in front of the tank so she can climb out if she likes, but she’s only done that 2 or 3 times ever. Mostly all she wants is to poke her head out and feel included, and is satisfied after that. when I eventually get another snake I don’t know how i’ll cope if they’re a troublemaker or less well behaved.

Since people were already interested, this is her!! These are the photos from the breeder, not ones I’ve taken--I’m on a 12 day work trip so am waiting to have her shipped until after I return. She is a Guyanese BCC born August 2nd of this year :) She’s already starting to show a lot of pink color on her sides & face, she’s gonna be beautiful!! 

I’ll post again once I have received her :) Until then, I now return to your regularly scheduled dragon art.

it is Almost Snake Buy Time hhhhhhHHHHH

won’t personally get it for another month or so bc waiting for it to be shipped until mid-Novemeber after all my work trips for the year are over. but!!!!!!

lmao i am once more Felled by my expensive taste tho... my general thought process the last two and a half months of waiting to buy one has been:

it’s fine i don’t need a specific morph or anything, a junky bci for $100 will totally fit my needs

maybe i want a nice morph after all, i should at least look

you know the one thing these morphs all lack is that super bright red tail i know and love. i can spring for an expensive normal

well... a normal bci is just a toned down version of the colors in a bcc, so maybe i really want a cheap bcc after all

whoops ive discovered locality boas but its FINE a nice normal suriname is perfect and they’re most common

WHAT ABOUT THIS SEMI RARE LOCALITY THO look at all the nice undertones

aaaaaa got a reply back about a snake litter I’m interested in! Guyanese bcc’s, they have a LOT of color to them already. the other guy i was interested in never sent me more info and while that litter seemed great (mega peak surinames, from a 10ft dam wow) this guy seems more organized with how he’s planning goin about things. tons of photos of the first shed babies already up.

Still waiting on my tank, I’m 5.5 weeks from ordering, so sometime in the next 1-3 weeks statistically (though some go over that...). I’m on a 12 day work trip (studying some old uranium mines in arizona) the first two weeks of november so I won’t be ready for a snake until mid-nov anyway. 

for now, finally bought some thermometers/hygrometers for the tank, and a temp gun. seems like nothing is great for high-humidity environments but alas. also got extra power strip/surge protectors and a light timer. Might get some provent-a-mite just in case??? no reason to think i’ll need it right but better to have it on hand etc etc. Less exciting/fun than tank decor but I am officially out of room for more Things until I actually get the tank and can position them out.

uhg 1 more month and then it will actualy be Snake Time!!!! hhhhh
