What is your opinion on gentiles making Jewish headcanons? Is it okay so long as they don't rely on offensive stereotypes, or is it something that should be avoided entirely?

Honestly, it's hard to give a definitive answer, because everyone is going to have a different answer (you know, the whole 'two Jews, three opinions' thing ;D ). Some people might be totally chill with goyim making well-researched, non-stereotypical Jewish headcanons, others would think it's pretty offensive if you're not Jewish yourself, others might want to see it on a case-by-case scenario.

My own view would be that I don't have an issue with it per se, but I also would kind of ask... well, why? I make Jewish headcanons because I can recognise traits the characters have that I share (legit started headcanoning Sycamore as Jewish because I was like "haha same eyebrows"), or because I see it making narrative sense (like Spock being Jewish-coded). But goyim just don't have that same cultural background, so I'd be a bit curious where they're actually getting it from, and if there are misconceptions and issues there that they may not be picking up on.

(Example: in Bloodlines, I hc Isaac Abrams as being Jewish. Jewish surname, involvement in golden-era Hollywood, and honestly, my great-grandfather was literally named Isak and was a jeweler, haha. Strauss, on the other hand? The name could work, but given that Strauss is a Tremere who actively uses blood sorcery and made the Gargoyle, there are a lot more problematic elements there, and some very unfortunate implications if he was Jewish.

Anyway, VtM has pretty mixed results with Jewish characters. Nahum ben Enosh is pretty cool. Michalis Basaras is a creep, but that's more because of Lasombra/Abyss-related stuff. Still, any future stuff with Basaras will need to tread carefully if they go with infernalist themes. Josef Zvi, however, is one of those things where a Jewish reader just kind of wants to smack whoever decided that the Nosferatu Prince and protector of the Warsaw ghetto also has an insatiable thirst for the blood of Christian children. No!! Bad writer!!)

I'm sorry, it's just not something I can give a firm answer for!
