Todays Hinakois: hot cocoa with a friend!
Extra dialogue under cut
H: Sorry for pinning what I did on you back there
M: Nonsense! I don’t think I have any room to judge you for that.

I love the part of Disco Elysium where Harry shaves and it’s supposed to symbolize him taking control of his life and making a change and he asks Kim how he looks and Kim responds with “Uh…. Bad.”

Invader Zim was an unparalleled media experience. Some alien nearly destroys his planet so he’s banished to be a fast food worker. He decides to stop being banished when he hears he can destroy more stuff so they send him to the far reaches of space on a false mission so he dies but earth is there. He decides to collect information on the planet to collect its weaknesses by going to public school. The only people who can see through his disguise are a neglected rich kid 12 year old obsessed with Mothman and his gamer girl sister. Both the siblings are goth. The Mothman kid is the only one interested in stopping the alien but not out of any moral obligation or anything but for that sweet sweet daddy’s love. One time the Mothman kid got a therapist who killed the previous therapist and took his place, and this is a d-plot within the episode at best. The flagship brand of soda in the universe is called poop cola. There was an episode about how Zims entire alien race is more machine than human, and their entire being is contained in the little metal backpacks that are attached to them at all times, and their bodies are more things to carry these PAKS around and if they were to detach they would die while the PAK would attach to the nearest creature, overwrite their mind and kill them. This episode was cancelled to make the Christmas special. Gir is there.

You can love a character & still admit when they’re wrong. I love Nanami but can acknowledge her flaws (she has none) & can hold her accountable for her wrongdoings (she's never done anything wrong in her life) & call her out for her actions (which are always correct)

I know it’s seen as a source of comedy in the TMA fandom how Jon thought Martin was gonna kill him because he showed him basic human concern, but when you think about it for more than a minute, it becomes depressing.
Jon grew up with his last parental figure left resenting him, and not wanting to deal with him. To the point he thinks he DESERVED his childhood bullies treatment of him for being annoying. He spent a day wandering around town and almost died, but we don’t really have any word of his grandma being concerned about him, or asking where the hell he’d been. The fact he sees Martin come in to his office offering tea and asking if he’s doing well, and that ringing alarm bells he has some ulterior motives feels less like just being oblivious to a crush when you know that he has always been treated like a burden to the point he’s internalized it as just him not being worth the time.

That ‘when the shounen gets so misogynistic it’s gay’ post but I propose a new version. ‘When the rpg gets so homophobic it’s gay’. Yes this is about persona 4.

The absolute last thing I want is to get into fire emblem discourse, but it’s extremely funny to me that I’ve spent years hearing about people getting callout posts for liking the horrific character of Edelgard and when I played the game I find out her character philosophy is the very normal take of “eugenics is bad.”

There’s something almost humorous about the fact that twice in a row now, Hbomberguy has set out to create videos about topics that interest him and then did enough research to fall into a rabbit hole of receipts on a man’s years of lies.

Nanami is like the only sane character in Utena and simultaneously completely off her rocker. She’s the only person to ask what the hell is going on with the student council but she was fully convinced she laid an egg for a week.

I think it’s important to highlight that Utena’s masculinity is not part of her prince identity.
While the show paints her quest to be a prince as naive and misguided it never says the same about her masculinity. Utena loves her boys uniform. She plays sports. Wakaba calls her her boyfriend. All of these are things that Akio tries to take away from her. He tells her he likes her feminine side. He gives her jewelry. His stated goal is to make her a princess.
Utena is not a prince or a princess. She is just Utena, a unique individual with thoughts and feelings of her own, and to Akio and Ohtori, that is the most dangerous thing she could be.
