thoughts on what fandoms the da:i characters would be in
I will do this for you but ONLY if I amend it to "fandoms they would be annoying about" because it's funnier and otherwise I'm just assigning them shows they would be into and that's too subjective and less fun
One of them has to be a Homestuck and it's Sera, Sera is the Homestuck. Sera has a Trollsona that she doodles on everything, she would 100% absolutely try to dye herself gray using sharpies and vodka for a cosplay. She references it all the time and is annoying when you don't understand her jokes. She still tries to get people into it, but she considers Andrew Hussy a mortal enemy these days for Reasons.
Solas is a Song of Ice and Fire bitch. Not the show. The books. "But wait, Boggers!" you might say (if you know me well enough to call me "Boggers"), "What about LOTR? Why isn't Solas into LOTR?" And to that I say, he's definitely read it and is a nerd about it, but this is about fandom, and fandom to someone like a Reddit-addicted bitch like Solas is about theory crafting, debates, and politics, and ASoIaF being complex but unfinished really lends itself to the kind of deep internet toxicity that I think Solas would crave. Also he likes wolves.
Cole is a Supernatural Superfan. He has all the cheesy "join the hunt" merch because for a while it was his chief special interest and all he wanted was SPN stuff. He's kind of obsessed with Baby, specifically. His favorite episode was Baby and he has an AO3 account full of fic written from the car's perspective. He didn't cry in the finale until he saw the Impala under the canvas and he's been lowkey upset at Sam for doing that ever since.
Dorian is an old school Baldur's Gate fan. Like, BG1 and 2. He's played other RPGs of that era, those are just his favorites. What makes him an annoying fan is that he thinks complicated = good and looooooves to complain about how "simple" and "boring" current-era RPGs are. If you can't softblock yourself from all progress by making one mistake two hours into your playthrough, it's too easy. He's active in fandom spaces and is largely helpful, like he writes tips and guides and will answer newbie questions, but the price for his help is dealing with him being smug.
Leliana is a FromSoft fangirl and a Soulslike aficionado. Nightingale says git gud. She'll happily team up with you in co-op to get you through stuff if you ask, but she also explains mechanics and such like you should have known them already and thinks you're just not trying hard enough to listen, even though her advice is almost incomprehensible.
Cullen is an MCU fanboy. He fully believes they're the peak of cinema. He compares literally everything to an MCU movie, as he has seen all of them, multiple times, and thinks you're "thinking about it too much" if you criticize them in more than the most banal of ways. Usually it's fine, like, being excited for stuff is fine and enjoying mainstream things are fine, but you can only have so many "Thanos was a great villain" conversations with this dude before you go insane. Despite seeming incapable of critiquing the MCU, his criticisms of the DCEU are spot-on, sharp, and demonstrative of actually very impressive media analysis skills, but also coming from a starting point of "DC Bad, Marvel Good", so it's like, we could've had it aaaaaaaaall.
Cassandra is in the Bridgerton fandom. She read the original books and liked them, so she was one of the first people watching the show. Most of her fandom stuff happens on Facebook with other book fans. Watching the show with her is fun until the exact second she says "well, in the BOOKS" and then rattles off a list of the most inconsequential changes, distracting you from a pivotal moment in the show and forcing you to rewind. She is very pressed about the seasons going out of order from the books.
Varric is a Critical Role evangelist. He was there when it started, he's listened to everything. He's listened to other real play podcasts and shows, but CR is his favorite. That's not annoying in and of itself, what's annoying is that he will not stop trying to get you to watch it. If you even breathe in the direction of a DnD-related topic he tries to give you "advice on where to start" with CR. His friends put up with it because he's their Forever DM and they love him, but he sure does do a lot more obnoxious sound effects now than he used to and they're planning an intervention about it.
Josephine is a Disney Adult. She seems normal and then bam, you get blindsided by something insane, like that she owns every single Disney character Funko Pop, or that she's gone to DisneyWorld for vacation every year for the last decade, or you go over to her house for dinner and find Hidden Mickeys in her bathroom, or she's really intense about pin collecting and limited edition mouse ear headbands. You wonder when she has the time and energy to collect all this. And there's more of it every time you see her. But the thing is that she's pretty quiet about it as long as you don't poke the bear. You know that she's seen every one of the new remakes in theaters, but you don't dare ask her opinion about them. Her favorite princess is Cinderella and she tells you "the original dress was silver" with exactly the same amount of excited did-you-know energy every time.
I hate to break this to you all, but Iron Bull is a Zack Snyder and Christopher Nolan fanboy. Yep. Yes he is. His toxic trait is that he shuts his brain off and just enjoys the gritty action sequences. He liked Batman v Superman. He bought the Snyder Cut. He thinks Nolan's Batman is the absolute best that franchise has ever been and ever could be. I'm sorry, it's heartbreaking but it's true. I know, I'm sad, too, we can hold each other.
Vivienne has been in the Anne Rice fandom under the same pseudonym for ever. She was one of the original fans and was much more active in fandom when she was much younger, but she made her fannish activities more and more private as she became more established in her career. You would honestly never know it meeting her IRL; at most, people come over for dinner parties and might notice that she owns every single Anne Rice book, but they're part of her overall book collection and don't really stand out. Secretly, though, she's been keeping up with the Anne Rice fandom under a pseudonym this whole time and goes to the more modern in-person events using her fake name. She might kill you if you ever connected her fandom activities to her real life in any way. She's also just, like, she's really bad at letting people be wrong about these books. Really, really, really bad. There are epic-length threads on old forums that are just her and one other similarly deranged person fighting about obscure Vampire Chronicles lore.
And finally, Blackwall is a Game of Thrones girlie. The show, not the books. He's one of those "I don't like fantasy but I like Game of Thrones" guys, and he thinks GoT is mold-breaking and special and better and grittier and more realistic than other fantasy and that's why he likes it. His most irritating fan trait is that he thought season 8 was good and that the ending was good and he likes to get into heated debates with other fans about it. However, he does not know what Reddit is, he only talks with other GoT-watchers in Facebook, which is why he and Solas haven't had the fight to end all friendships yet. Yet.
BONUS! Krem is into Star Wars and Scout Harding is a die-hard Trekkie, and they go to big cons and cosplay together. They're not annoying at all, I just wanted to mention it because I feel like that's in-character for them.
**also if you like this and think "i'm gonna give this fine person a follow because they're so funny about dragon age", i made a new DA sideblog at @skyholdstarbucks where i'd post anything similar to this in the future

Hey Risu I think ud have some sound advice about this... I want to learn to draw n be an artist (digitally) but my brain screams when I try cos I'm new n not good at all and idk how to counteract the brain so I can draw shitty things until I get good.... It's hard to have fun when my brain is saying I'm shit and should quit :( Any advice? (I love ur art on ur art blog BTW... Ur art is good but like, not what I'm used to seeing and it's kinda nice to see how a hobby artist art looks cos I'm so used to more professional artists who take comms on twitter)
I was thinking of doing some of my shitty art to song lyrics (they're some of my fav, I draw my ocs in some sort of pose and then slap the lyrics on top in fancy font text or write it on my drawing tablet by hand) - and just don't care how bad it looks but I'm unsure if I can get my brain to not scream at me for not being enough long enough to do it :(
Any advice would be nice <3 p.s. My art is so bad it's like a kid trying to draw (derogatory but only at me) n I don't really have anyone in my life for support cos if it's not good they don't care :/// (well I have one friend, he's also a hobbyist as well, rarely draws cos he has the same issue of not being good and perfect type deal)
Oh hey its how I feel about my art 24/7 (and how most artists do!) So I will run u through all the things I find helpful
Listen. Brains are little bitches, ok? They LIE. They are MEAN. You need to practice telling ur brain to shut up. Like "hey, thats not fucking nice, I'm not listening to u until u have something helpful to say!" And its hard, cus its you, but with practice it gets easier to ignore ur brain being on one. Treat it like a toddler who is kicking off and calling u mean names cus u won't give it chocolate. "Thats nice dear im busy with my art". Like u gotta remember, for anyone trying to get started with art, it looks like a kid trying to draw because that's when most people stopped drawing. Same with any other skill u stop in childhood. My kid struggled so much with handwriting due to being ND that it switched to typing and guess what? Still has the handwriting u would expect from a small child. Because it stopped writing as a small child. I have the coordination with running and throwing of a young kid cus thats when I stopped doing sports. People who stop reading books young will find it harder to read books for an older audience. U do those kiddy drawings, do lots of them, you WILL get better.
Another thing. Heres a secret. For every artist, the majority of what they produce is shit. No really, all of them. Not just the crap you have to produce to git gud, but like, every amazing piece of art you have seen has like at least 5 fucked up sketches that got scrapped. Whole bits of painting that got covered up. All art is made up of mistakes and fuck ups. And even if u are sat there going wow this is perfect! The artist is DYING because they can see a hundred little mistakes that u cant. Art is all about perspective and honestly the perspective of the artist is the worst one. We are too familiar with the details to see our art for what it really is.
The thing that helped me most tho was when I went to art museums in Paris. I saw so much "good" art and im like. OK. This is technically good I guess? But it was kinda meh. The museum of modern art was the most disappointing cus, and listen I stan modern art ok there was some good shit in there, but there was a fucking rack of skis. Someone gone bought some skis and put them away and thats art. Hello? Oh someone painted some squares and came up with some deep meaning and im meant to be impressed. And then I go outside for a fag and I open tumblr and see some crappy 2 minute MSpaint vent art and u know what? It made me fucking feel. It make me feel like NOTHING in that museum had. Who is fucking deciding what "good" art is? I dont remember being consulted! I dont think I fucking agree that "good" art is good! I think shit art is good! Some fucking ship art scribbles has more meaning for me than the fucking mona Lisa, yknow?
And then I went to an exhibit of Picasso's sketches and doodles. Napkins with little scribbles on and shit. And they were so normal. Nothing impressive. And it was wonderful. I've done better sketches! I promise u u have done better than some of that stuff. Honestly so many artists aren't even "better", they're just successful. And idk but I think success is a poor way to measure arts worth.
There is a genuine magic to a hobby artist just. Doodling what makes them happy. Not for money, not for fame, not for skill, just because they want to. Art for arts sake, yknow?
Also I understand it can be very hard to share ur work but I would encourage u to do so with ppl u trust to give u fair feedback. Feel free to send me what u make I will be more than happy to tell u how great it is

Okay so I finally discovered Battle Replays
And I spent the past hour watching all my Kayo Vs from the enemy perspective and I've learned this.
Every single "How the hell did they hit me?!" "What was thaaaat?!?!" "Dude the lag is immense" and "Are they hacking?!" moment you experience, so does everyone else.
That and Dualies are one nudgel away from cheating. Like it's just a get out of jail free card. Maybe if you're playing LAN and there's no lag or connection issues there'd be a way to play around them, but in real gameplay it's just the cheapest shit I've ever seen in a game.
I'd say it'd very super obviously be banned in tournaments due to how RNG it is, but MLGs tend to be kinda weird about what's banned and what's not. "Is it fair?" and "Is it fun?" is never considered when something is tournament banned, only "Does everyone hate this?"
My only question is... why do people still put up with this game?
I originally thought that being victim to lag is rare and some people can go throughout the whole year with little issues.
Tho whenever I bitch about this most people either go "yaaaeeeeep" or a trolly "git gud" or "git better internet"
Which, I did, I upgraded from 250mbpsDL/15mbpsUL to 1gbpsUL/DL and that did fix the "being kicked from the game because of discos" problem. Nothing else tho.
Another theory for why this happened was people purposely trying to throttle by turning on a torrent or something so they'll get the lag spike kills.
Then again
Another thing I've noticed lately is constantly meeting the same people, and they're often Japanese or way more skilled than I or my friends. Which says to me "This game is dead"
Like, maybe matchmaking isn't broken, it's just the game sucked too hard and everyone left except for the salty few.
On the plus side, I almost never get discos now. Tho again I wonder if that's cuz everyone with stuttery internet that works otherwise with every other game and media streaming just abandoned this game.
I dunno, what do y'all think?

As someone that generally agrees with 90% of your bio/it also describes me, I have to say… dude please put down your phone and go touch grass. Maybe socialize. If you find the right people, all of this wall of text discourse shit is not necessary because most people are out there living their lives instead of wasting it being a keyboard warrior and/or armchair professor. The Tumblr discourse fad died 5 years ago. It’s time to grow up and move on.
I think you’re fundamentally misunderstanding why I write these wall of text posts. This advice is about 3 years late or so. I have touched grass and I have done it again and the second time was going on meds. If you find yesterday hard to look at, you would have not been able to stomach me a couple years ago. I actually used to use discourse as a mix of self harm and self medication. Adrenaline is a stimulant, but it’s one that fucks you up if you rely on it too much. I used to compulsively do this kind of response for people who I knew were arguing in bad faith all the time whenever someone commented something dumb under my posts.
Then I was forced to take some time away and while that still sometimes happens, it doesn’t really anymore. Yesterday was not that by the way. The reason I am doing these wall of text kind of responses is because sometimes it’s fun to do wall of text style responses. One of them arguably came a little close to the kind of patterns I wanna avoid, but I also reigned myself back in hard after that.
I am not doing this for brownie points. And I have had a bunch of people who responded to me who I didn’t respond back to because they offered me nothing interesting to say to them or think through. And by now I have also 100% lost interest in the conversation, so… unless someone throws something really novel/interesting at me I’m not gonna engage with it anymore.
I am getting overly wordy rn, sorry. My point is I actually got something out of the responses I wrote because imma be frank up to that point my only perspective of the topic was “it’s stolen art, fuck it” and through writing multiple walls of text I actually worked out my other issue with it, namely that I think it’s offering a really hollow promise that preys on the insecurity of the people it’s most attractive towards in a way that I can look at with good faith, as well as that it’s kind of shitty towards newbies who see it as a way to get into art easily and quickly.
I did not have that perspective before I wrote 200 bucks worth of words about it in a rush of good faith bitch-hood. So idk what to tell you, the grass is green. Plenty so. Not really, there is no green, it’s january and I live in the middle west of germany. There is no color at all, let alone green.
I find it very patronizing of you to assume I haven’t found the right people. I think I deserve a monopoly on being patronizing in my arguments. I’d rather you send me a “git gud, snub”.

in the spirit of Sunday afternoons everywhere i have been dicking around thinking about Edward’s PI office because i am a horrible little goblin and i also want to try and have some consistency whenever i draw the office
you wanna see? no? understandable, have a good day- but if you do they’re under the cut (also incredibly rough, and constructed using Bastard;s Perspective)
the important thing to be rember is that this is meant to be roughly early 2000′s but a) Edward likes film noir and feels that there should be some maintenance of the key parts of the genre and b) you can’t tie me down to a solid time period because I’ll bite and scratch i swear i will
Tumblr media
Edward’s desk with the requisite green shaded lamp, also a minor sample of his truly impressive Rubix cube collection, Also framed newspaper reports from his favourite crimes and that Query and Echo photo that I need to do a proper finished version of, because he’s just an old sentimentalist, really The desk position allows him easy access to the window and thus the fire escape, in case he needs to make a speedy if irregular exit
Tumblr media
the sheer amount of nonsense you must accumulate over 25 years of themed crime, i mean; he needs to unpack some of these. what’s in the filing cabinet? secrets (and tax forms he should also get around to doing, possibly the worst part of going legal)
Tumblr media
a bunch of this stuff (the hand with the bow, the metronome, the stereoscope) is taken from the background of the video for Nik Kershaw’s song The Riddle because I’m a bad person.  The beetles... well, it turns out there’s a genus of beetle called Aenigma, and I think I’m funny despite all evidence against this. Look, Edward appreciates a good reference too, I bet he would have something like this
Tumblr media
you gotta have an wall with bits of string on it if you’re a PI, you just gotta, it’s the Law. Nothing says you have to have a gramophone, though, I think I was just getting carried away there. Still, Edward does have a lot of vinyl, because he thinks the sound quality is superior. Yep. Yep, I’m so sorry, he’s that sort of person.
so that’s Edward’s office, but there’s an outer bit as well, mainly the domain of Edward’s secretary, but also full of nonsense that I am going to have to draw consistently in the background every single time
... i may have made a horrible mistake.
well, personal crisis aside, here’s the door into Edward’s office, which slams in a very satisfying way, also some more filing cabinets, they always make a place look more professional! no one needs to know they’re full of Rubix cubes and old bits of wiring from the death traps... the hat stand head is actually a phrenology head, I just think they look cool. Haven’t decided on a name for the head, but probably Elgar.
Tumblr media
the other thing you gotta have as a PI is the frosted etched glass on your office door, so there you are. also, the various canes Edward has used across the years- i couldn’t tell you where I took them all from, but you’ve got the BTAS cane in there, and the Telltale one, and a few others. some of them are a bit dodgy to touch, actually- if they have some kind of weapon hidden in them, and the mechanisms gone a bit what with wear and tear, well- just don’t go waving them around, is all
Tumblr media
the secretary’s desk! nothing really to mention here.
Tumblr media
and finally, a very dilapidated sofa- it’s not too bad to sit on, but if, hypothetically speaking, you had been spending the last 18 months sleeping on it because this agency is the last thing you have in all the world, well, it’s not quite so fun.
speaking hypothetically, of course. everything is fine. everything is completely fine
Tumblr media
ok so, these are just rough indicators for myself but i quite like them. anyway. hope your Sunday is going ok. thanks for looking at this nonsense.

Thess vs Accessibility Options
Okay, I’m getting to a point where I think that at least in my own personal sphere, Yong Yea is a little bit cancelled.
Look, I keep up to date with the gaming news through a couple of sources - one fairly dry and factual (Yong) and one a lot more ranty and shouty (Jim Sterling), along with a few other sources here and there. But today’s video by the former was less news and more personal opinion, and it had to do with the recent Forbes article saying that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice should have an easy mode as an accessibility thing. Yong’s take on it is ... nicer than most of the ‘git gud’ crowd, or at least more polite, but the principle is the same: “The game was designed to be unforgiving, a massive technical challenge. That’s its raison d’etre. Changing the keybindings and the like is the only accessibility option you could ever need and if you just don’t have the time or inclination to develop the abilities you need to beat this cruel and unforgiving world, the game isn’t going to just give up its primary method of conveying a harsh, unforgiving world for your comfort and convenience. If you lack time and inclination, this game is not for you”.
Now, I’m not touching the comments, because it’s a bunch of ‘git gud’ assholes bitching about people wanting to dumb down their games and taking it to the borderline comedy extreme of “these people want to just press a button to win”. I know better than to throw my disabled ass to that school of ableist barracuda. But I have a lot to say about gameplay modes and accessibility from the perspective of someone who has disability issues, and I am going to fucking say it somewhere or I am going to explode.
So. Let’s take my situation. We begin with my longstanding history of RSI, carpal tunnel syndrome, and probably incipient arthritis. My hands and wrists hurt more or less constantly. It’s pretty low-grade these days, but given my general arena of employment and my hobbies, there’s not a lot in the way of ‘rest’ for them. I have to be careful, though, because I don’t want to cripple myself. Been there, done that. Thing is, no amount of keybinding changes would let me play a game that unforgiving. I literally cannot move that fast for extended periods without significant issues. Not when I’m maintaining a 90+ wpm typing rate at work and to communicate with friends. When you consider that I have it relatively easy in terms of my manual dexterity issues compared to a lot of other people? That’s a lot of people you’re shutting out by not even considering a mode where at least you don’t have to hit as often or you get more telegraphing of incoming attacks.
Most of all, though, there’s the migraine thing, at least for me. The sheer speed at which you need to change direction and attack pattern to beat some of these things ... it would be brutal. I doubt I could finish even one major fight before I ended up curled up in a corner wishing for death with my head ringing and every ancillary migraine symptom I have flaring up. Thus tanking the same boss again and again and again to get used to the attack patterns is impossible for me, just from the point of view of my physical health. The option to take things a little slower? Would help immeasurably.
So why do I want to play this, if it’s so obviously not meant for me? Because the selling points of these games are so much more than the gameplay. There’s a story there that we’re not allowed to experience unless we have the time, inclination and physical ability to take that kind of punishment. The developers have made a skill challenge, yes, but they’ve also made a truly glorious narrative that is not necessarily reliant on that skill challenge.
It’s the difference between equality and equity. At the moment, we have equality - everyone has the exact same experience, whether they can partake in said experience or not. But because not all people are created equal ... some people are not getting the experience of the narrative at all because of the equivalent of refusing to put in a wheelchair ramp leading up to a museum. “It would ruin the aesthetic of our architecture! And look, some people can get out of their wheelchairs long enough to get up the stairs! You’re just lazy!”
See, that’s the part that really offends me from Yong. Not the opinion that From Software isn’t disrespecting players by refusing to include an easy mode, but that he seems to think he knows what constitutes “accessibility options”. Keybindings help, sure. Colour blind mode helps, yes. But that is not all there is to accessibility. And if people who just aren’t into games that punishing take advantage of a mode designed for people with manual dexterity issues? SO THE FUCK WHAT? It still doesn’t take the achievement away from someone playing on normal or hard or nightmare mode.
I’m not going to tell From Software what features they have to include in their games. I think they’re stupid for not accommodating those who lack the physical ability to develop the skills needed to tackle their game, but if they want a punishing hack-and-slash that locks away their epic story - if they honestly feel that making an easier mode that is hard for the disabled rather than outright impossible? That’s their prerogative. But I think that people like Yong Yea and the people who are screaming ‘GIT GUD’ at the top of their lungs are disrespecting players by making assumptions about what constitutes accessibility options.
Summary: Forbes made a point, Yong got a bit ableist, he’s not allowed to tell people who are actually disabled what constitutes ‘accessibility options’, and he did it anyway, so he’s kind of cancelled.

Tagged!!
I was tagged by @cerberosthehellguard Thanks for wanting to know about my dumb fandom self!
RULES: choose any three fandoms (in random order) and answer the questions. Then tag some friends.
I choose:
Voltron: Legendary Defender
Free!!
Yuri On Ice!
The first character you loved:
Voltron: Lance. Like look... I legit have a very dumb comic about my initial emotions towards the first episode of VLD. Like so many good boys were thrown at me all at once and I had a hard time processing everything. Every time a new boy would come on I’d just be like “that one! That’s him!” haha. So because we met Lance first... yeah he wins haha.
Free!!: God I dunno. Probably Makoto? It’s hard to get a read on Haru in the first few episodes so it definitely wasn’t him. I think I just thought Makoto was very cute and sweet. Also I’m such a sucker for childhood friends. All the show had to do was go “Here’s the main character” “...ok” “And here’s his best friend from childhood.” “Fuck. YES. FUCK YES I AM ON BOARD.”
Yuri on ice: Listen. Yuri plisetsky had me from the moment I saw him wearing all that animal print.
The character you’d slap:
Voltron: The... writers? Yeah. Yeah the writers.
Haha, i’m just kidding. Probably Keith actually. Not out of anger, more as a “Pull yourself together boy!” kind of thing. “Listen to your friends! Think before you charge in there!”
Oh shit, wait, also Lotor. Fuck that guy.
Free!!: Season 1 Rin. Very specifically season 1 Rin. What a bitch baby.
Yuri on Ice: The entire main cast haha. Yuuri! Lokve yourself dammit! *slap!* Viktor! Fucking learn empathy and tell your boyfriend everything will be ok and you’ll stay with him no matter what! *slap!* Goddamit Yurio can you stop being a little shit and maybe admit that you admire Yuuri and that’s why you’re lashing out at him! *slap!*
A character you liked at first but not so much anymore:
Voltron: God... No one. I still love everyone. If anything I love characters more. I guess I could say Shiro? Just because Shiro is my fave, but this last season was a fucking painful season to be a Shiro fan. Like yeah we got him back, but something’s not...right? like I really need specifically Black Paladin Shiro back. Like haha! Yeah this lion shakeup sure has been an adventure and we’ve seen these characters grow! ButseriouslywhenisShirogonnaleadagain
Free!!: again like... no one? Fuck it, let’s say Nagisa.
Yuri on Ice: Yeah I got kind of tired of edge lord Yurio after a bit. Adding his relationship with Otabek was definitely an excellent move.
A character you did not like at first, but they’ve grown on you:
Voltron: Keith actually! I just... didn’t get the Keith hype. Like for me to really connect with a character, he has to either make me laugh, have faults or something he’s working to overcome, or a killer backstory.
But keith didn’t have any of these! Like he had faults, but in the first few seasons, these were never treated like a detriment! Like he always came out of situations unscathed and unapologetic. And like... why would he! His brashness worked! I liked him, but I just wasn’t enamoured with him. Season 3 was really awesome for showing some of Keith’s vulnerability, and finally acknowledging his flaws. I’m so proud of the writers for actually having him be a shit leader for an episode or 2. I was really worried they’d be like “Hey here’s Keith as black paladin! He makes really brash decisions but OH LOOK! He was right all along! The rest of the team just needs to git gud.”. Like in the final few episodes, when Keith and Shiro were kind of clashing,.. I was actually leaning towards Keith’s side a bit. And I thought that’d never happen!
Free!!: Oh god, Sousuke. Rin as well, but I think I expected to eventually like him? The writing throughout season 1 definitely eluded to the fact that Rin was supposed to be a character you sympathised with, so I wasn’t surprised when I ended up really liking him in season 2.
Anyway! Sousuke, holy shit. Like when he first showed up I was just like “fuck this guy”. And was definitely in the part of the fandom that wanted Makoto to get in there and maybe punch him haha. But after finding out his whole deal and his perspective of things... rewatching the series after knowing Sousuke’s motivations definitely changes things.
YOI: Viktor! Again, when he first showed up, he was really difficult to get a handle on. Like he was flirtatious, but also kind of a dick, his motivations weren’t clear... like why help this japanese skater that you’ve never met who got crushed at the last competition? Why??
Yuri on Ice is so fantastic and fascinating because it’s as much the story of Viktor’s growth as it is Yuri’s. At face value, you would easily think that Yuri is the struggling protagonist, and Viktor is the perfect boyfriend who’s going to step in and teach Yuri to love himself. ... but it’s not that at all. Throughout the series, Viktor learns how to be more empathetic and support others. He shows himself to be genuinely, emotionally invested in Yuri, which we realise is something that he’s probably never felt before. I dunno. YOI is just fucking great.
3 OTPs:
KLANCE
MAKOHARU
VICTUURI.
classic. indisputable classics.
Tag others:
uhhhhhhhh shit. @yaxxm and @homebeccer if you’re down.
