The fact that werewolves are the absolute perfect allegory for feminine rage and being queer and trans and disabled but every goddamn werewolf movie is somehow the blandest cis straight white dude grimdark angst mcmanpain bullshit ever should be classified as some kind of hate crime

Alright, so I made a small list of horror movie recs!
American Psycho (a favorite, but one you've probably seen already, especially with it being one people have been talking about a lot recently)
The Others (a fantastic ghost story! <3)
Gerald's Game (tw for sexual assault that happens to a child that isn't super graphic, but it is a major plot point)
The Fly (tw for body horror if that's not your cup of tea)
The Invisible Man (very new, and was quite popular, but just in case you haven't seen it yet!)
Black Swan (again, one you've probably seen before, but worth mentioning!)
Funny Games, Audition, Hard Candy, The Perfection (these movies are ones I've only seen once, and long enough ago that I don't remember them perfectly, but I do know I enjoyed them! However... they're grouped together because from what I remember of them, they're... kind of a lot. In a lot of different ways. If you have things you're sensitive to in regards to horror, maybe check out Does The Dog Die and look up these movies to see general content warnings.)
Land of the Dead, Trick 'r Treat, Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, Ginger Snaps, Cabin In The Woods, It Follows, The Strangers, The Taking of Deborah Logan, Ready or Not (these aren't quite under the psychological sub-genre, but came to mind tonight while thinking about movies I'd recommend!)
I also have a few movies that, while not horror movies, I would totally recommend to anyone who likes psychological films!
Rear Window, Vanilla Sky (or Open Your Eyes, which is the original Spanish version... I haven't seen this version yet, sadly, but I hear it's even better than the American remake, which I definitely believe haha), and The Game!
Also... while not a movie, if you have not watched series The Haunting of Hill House yet on Netflix, I would highly highly highly recommend it!!! It's one of my absolute favorite series, and is so good!
I hope you've had a lovely day, and enjoy whatever you end up watching! :D
first off i really really appreciate you taking the time to type all this out! it’s all definitely going on my list :)
OKAY SO:
i’ve seen it follows, ready or not, trick ‘r treat, and the fly, and loved most of them! it follows is my personal favorite out of them, but the fly did squick me out a bit ;w; i guess i’m good with animated/drawn body horror, but not “real” body horror? weird 😅
i also haven’t seen american psycho, but heard a lot of good things about it! i’ve also heard that a lot of people take it as just a surface level movie, which makes me want to watch it and do some digging into it!
ginger snaps is also on my list b/c i love werewolves, and i think a female werewolf character is something that’s seen very rarely and could make an interesting take b/c it’s kinda the opposite of everything a girl is “supposed” to be? like girls written by men who are supposed to be “ideal” are usually quiet, demure, polite, etc and i think it could be super interesting!
also i LOVE elizabeth moss, so i’ll definitely check out the invisible man!
anyway these are all really great recommendations and tysm for sending them all over! :D i’ll probably reblog this with my thoughts on them when i watch them! ♥️♥️♥️
