Okay one more ask: Do you ever think about how Giselher was only one step away from escaping his family's nonsense by marrying into Rudiger's family? Only they still all had to go to that dang feast.
And another thought on the younger Nibelungs, just from the Norse material, I imagine Gernot has the iron stomach of the family and is willing to eat almost anything. Even Hagen's cooking, if he ever cooks.
It's the main reason I ship Giselher/Dietlinde. Do we get a lot about them? No, even if what little we do get is pretty cute imo. But do I think there was happiness and warmth and hope in their meeting, and that Giselher was probably thinking about coming back to Dietlinde and enjoying something safe and peaceful and far away from all the tensions and angst in his family with her? Yes.
And then, ofc, he dies a brutal death. And so does poor, honorable Rüdiger, his father-in-law. And thinking about Dietlinde and Gotelinde hearing the news after always kills me.
... and I wasn't expecting that Gernot headcanon after thinking about all that, but I love it. XD Just like I love the idea of Hagen being a terrible cook. XDD
Tbf, that last one is partly because, in Modern AU scenarios, I can't help but see Hagen as someone who would probably try to subsist mainly on black coffee and cigarettes if not for a vague, disgruntled awareness that he has to eat at least sort-of healthy to keep himself in shape. Tho that still doesn't stop him from being kind of hopeless in the kitchen. XD
(Btw, kind of off-topic but thinking about Hagen and cooking also made me think back to this delightful little fic, so have a random rec!)

- So, like you in this abbey.
- You see corruption everywhere around you and have no sense of the moral rot in your own soul.

I LOVE your gernot stuff so much 😭❤️ what do you think of gernot/ferenc?
Thanks LOL shoutout to his 2 fans (us)
I've not really thought about it before but I can definitely see the vision, I wish we got to see more of their dynamic in the game (rip). I'm so gernot/andreas pilled though...I like watching that philandering knave irritate him
