oh yeah. this came up somewhere else so I might as well share some POWER LEVEL DISCUSSION. explanations under read more. Not sorted within the tiers.

Singularity Tier: doesn't need explaining, especially with recent MSQ where grandjeet can basically D4C their way into being the literal perfect version of themselves across all multiverses

Juiced Up Tier: Astral + some extra juice. Needs multiples of the tier below to take them on. Avatar Belial is however notably unstable and can be stalled out. Bubz is a hilarious jobber but is supposed to be strong. People here could feasibly delete an island as a general feat of power. Lucilius, Cosmos, six dragons, and so on would go here too

Inner Teachings/Eternal Tier: Prime fuckos of the sky. Top class mortal + top tier extra juice (primal or eternal weapon). Luminary Knights are about here as well. Could render an island uninhabitable. Cag belongs here but probably couldn't straight up fight anyone else in the tier; on the flip side she's capable of more raw destruction given time, and is the win con vs higher tiers in group scrambles. Boundary accessed eternals would go to Juiced Up. Narmaya is the other anomaly here but she's considered about equal to Octo and Funf.

Combat Focused Primal or Primal Hunter Tier: Self-explanatory. Could demolish a landscape. Society members don't need much explanation, they're powerful + their weapons are extremely strong, but not Revenant tier (if they got access to the automagod forms more easily, this would likely bump them up). Siegfried punches above the rest of the dragon knights by virtue of dragon blood. Belial I've never considered to have too much raw power, he's just smart. Anila's here by virtue of extrapolation; spars between Zodiacs have been shown to fuck up the area around them without much effort on their part (and that's between Kumby and Vikky, who consider themselves pretty weak). Grimnir is called a War God but I don't think he has many explicit displays of power so far. Charlotta eats her vegetables. Yuel and Socie canonically can make skyscraper high pillars of flame with their dances as a normal thing, and their story villain is pretty high up there.

Paragon Mortal Tier: Could destroy a town/make it evacuate. tbh Metera could cheese out people higher tier than her since she can fly. Otherwise, she's never really shown any explicit feat of power. I've never considered the Dragon Knights SUPER powerful as far as the whole cast goes, and they generally don't solo any of their threats, but they're the best within their groups.

Strong Combatant: Could destroy a building. Ladiva and Soriz don't have anything going for them besides martial arts. Ferry's not really ever indicated to be a strong combatant besides being a ghost and having a bunch of support summons.

Civvie: dude that's our fucking mess hall cook.

Okay so I got curious so I looked up what languages all the Eternals' non-localized names are from, because I didn't recognize all of them

Anre/ Uno - Spanish/ Italian

Tweyen/ Song - Thai

Threo/ Thalaatha - Arabic

Feower/ Quatre - French

Fif/ Funf (Fünf) - German

Seox/ Six - English

Seofon/ Siete - Spanish

Eahta/ Octo - Greek/ Latin

Niyon/Nio - Swedish

Tien/ Esser - Hebrew

It's amusing that the two founders both picked Spanish numbers

Also Eahta is super old so using languages associated with ancient history is a funny touch

I definitely had to look up Tweyen, Threo and Tien

It's a bit weird to me that the twins have different language names

But it definitely is sad that this aspect of "They're from all over the World" is lost with all their names being Ancient English in the localized version

but as for the language disparity between the twins, i think the fact it's not their birthname is the way to best explain it anyway, while they could have kept the thematic to stay linked together it's not like, on a number name they were given later, they had to sstay thematically consistant.

but i do love the fact Eahta being old is represented by his name as well here.

I personally really prefer the "all over the world" aspect of their Japanese name and i'll always be sad the localization went for old english instead.

but alas...

ok german time spoilers if you want to read on

they have two ways the one that's most similar to english so like saying it's three fifteen is the version most used in media and news etc and it's only used in twenty four hour so three fifteen is morning and fifteen fifteen would be afternoon. so drei uhr funfzehn oder funfzehn uhr funfzehn. and like 3:50 would be drei uhr funfzig

the other version which is a bit more complicated is the more common version used in conversations and you dont have to use 24 hour with it esp if it's like situationally obvi so if someone asks the time and it's fifteen fifteen you can say three fifteen bc they will obvi know it's afternoon but if someone asked like what time does the show start you'd have to use 24 hr bc well at least our instructor said there's no way to differentiate am and pm except for using the 24 hours.

so the on the hour is basic you'll say time and uhr e.g. drei uhr.

everything between 1 minute past the hour to 24 minutes past the hour is easy. you say minute + nach + hour e.g. zehn nach drei.

as in english quarter past has it's own thing so it's viertel nach drei.

now let's ignore everything between 25 - 35 minutes on the clock and skip to 36 to 59 minutes.

again kind of similar to english so you use the number that it's going to be for the hour and how many minutes until the hour for the minutes e.g. 3:50 wld be zehn vor vier.

and again quarter to has it's own word and it's the same viertel but with vor instead so viertel vor vier.

this is all great and easy to understand for the most part now let's go back to the 25 - 35 minutes block. firstly let's start with half past in english 30 minutes past 3 would be referred to as three thirty but in german they don't use the hour it's past but rather the hour it's going to so the same thing in german would be four thirty and to say it you'd just say halb vier but remember that means 3:30 not actually 4:30.

now for everything between 25 - 29 minutes you say minutes to half hour + vor + halb + hour it is going to e.g. 3:25 funf vor halb vier.

and then on the other side so 31 - 35 it's similar minutes after half hour + nach + halb + hour it is going to be e.g. 3:35 funf nach halb vier.

some examples extend the 25 - 35 minute block to 20 - 40 but it's not mandatory it's only definitely mandatory between 25 - 35.

also for up to 5 minutes after the hour instead of giving the exact time you can say kurz nach + hour e.g. 3:02 kurz nach drei and similarly for anything 5 minutes to you can either say kurz vor + hour or gleich + hour so e.g. 3:58 kurz vor vier oder gleich vier

and well uhr means o'clock. nach means after. vor means for i believe. halb means half. viertel means quarter.

truly to me it wasn't that hard to comprehend bc we also learnt separating verbs before we did time and boy do i still have no idea what's going on there cri

I started this game because I saw Belial being posted 84 times on my twitter and I’m thinking, who is this man and why is he on my dash so many times. Turns out he’s from gbf. like okay seems interesting. turns out it a mobile game. well, buddy lemme level with you I don't have any more phone storage so ripp but oh shit wait I can play this mobile game on my browser??? I've been trying to get FGO on my computer for 84 years (I haven't actually I'm too lazy) okay now I am very very intrigued because playing a mobile game on my browser is apparently a big deal to me

I don’t remember) but did sandy wanna come home? no of course not

though I did get percival summer and halluel and malluel and they can do 2M dmg if the boss your facing is at max health with one ability/skill. Basically, I’ve got a pretty stacked team for all elements but weapons are awful because I may be Lvl 100+ but I'm on chapter fucking 9 because I accidentally made an oops and got the 1hr Exp boost and did slime search with my nuke team over and over again. Also I was super sad I couldn’t get Heles summer event character either cause she’s a god tier okie dokie in my heart. I also love Zeta and Beatrix like fuck dude. I have both of them and their white day scenes are so cute, esp Bea. Side note, I would smash Esser/Tien so hard into the ground because holy fuck my heart cannot take this abuse?? She’s also such a sweetheart and I basically love everyone in this game 

But yeah, seox, I love him and I am so upset that when I started, it was during the unite and fight event and I could have gotten his revenant weapon and nope I fucking went for niyon and seite and I didn’t realize that when I fully upgrade the weapons I get the eternal and even then. i literally fucking switched draw boxes because I didn't understand how uncapping worked so I have a 2 star siete weapon sword thing and a 2 star harp and I wanna kms basically because I could have gone for the six ruin fist to get seox or the fucking dagger because oh my god I love quatre/feower??? I played the seeds of redemption and thought he was low-key kind of a prick but NO I UNDERSTAND NOW HE IS A PRECIOUS CHILD AND I WILL ALSO LAY MY LIFE FOR HIM. Dude is so pretty its unfair and my fugly ass. i looked like the joker from the Animated batman cartoons (you fucking know the one) But its okay, at least I went for two wind eternals and I like pretty much everyone except funf. Precious child and everything but I hate her voice. Also vryn, like best lizard but a fucking gremlin that I wish I could mute

this entire game is basically me understanding that I really like sweetheart tsunderes and self-empowered girls and that I really enjoy guys that are all gay to some fucking dumbass bastard, hate life, and angsty 24/7 and full of anger but that's okay because I am stuck in reality and self aware

The new event for Drang and Strum is some pure stuff and I’m speedrunning the event so I can get all the materials and etc but holy shit do people kill the event raids so fast??? i still have ptsd trying to solo nehan tho granted drang and strum aren’t that hard to beat. Also playable nehan when??? Mugen is great and all and I have him but if it was nehan instead that means I could have gotten nehan AND I WANT THAT TRADE. Mugen goes super saiyan and he’s an absolute unit so it’s alright but i love nehan and fuck dude give me seeds of redemption part 2 please

Interesting factoid, the Deadlords in Awakening first show up in Fe4 (genealogy) as just random unexplained minibosses /w no real portraits powerful stats skills before the final boss (Julius).

In FE5, many of the Deadlords reappear in the final map with Veld, here they're implied to be undead, their Japanese name is simply "Dark Warlord" for reference.

You see if certain units aren't recruited or die, various deadlords will have their portrait. Like if Eyvel dies, Funf, the Sniper dreadlord will have a very pale Eyvel for her portrait. Potentially all the deadlords can have portraits including Sara & Lifis of the Heroes cast. Major Villain, Raydrik, who can't be captured, & thus always dies & becomes the Baron leader of the Deadlords, Eins.

How this is accomplished is unclear but Raydriks corpse vanishes when he dies, implying Veld or another Loptous cultist retrieved his corpse.

Like most things in Awakening, there’s no explanation how they’re now risen under Grima.

I mean it could just be a recurring motif type thing? The same way the Fire Emblem isn’t always the exact same thing in every game the Deadlords aren’t literally the same Deadlords, they’re just “super powerful undead enemies who can be summoned with dark magic” and for simplicity’s sake they are all deadlords

Like I kinda assumed the Ten Elites in Verdant Wind were supposed to allude to the Deadlords in the same way the “Crest of Flames” is the “Fire Emblem” and Fates having zombified versions of the Dads in the “Heirs of Fate” DLC also alluded to it so I get the vibe that they’re more a recurring element like “animal shifters” or Mercurius, Hauteclare, and Parthia that you’re not supposed to really take as literally the same thing across games

Though it would’ve been cool if characters like Gaius or Tharja could show up as deadlords if killed/not recruited

eins  )  the  Return  of  Scary  Girl™,  which  continues  to  be  my  favourite  running  joke  with  her.  thank  the  gods.  i  love  when  everyone  remembers  she  is  as,  if  not  more,  dangerous  than  loki  (  who  doesn’t  have  sorcery  in  here  but  that’s  beyond  the  point  )

zwei  )  the  parallels  of  loki  and  leah  essentially  making  eye  contact  was  lost  on  me  when  i  originally  read  this  and  wrote  tommy.  which  means  loki  is  likely  looking  back  at  her,  still  sitting  on  the  rock  in  the  empty  space  before  humanity.  talk  about  heartbreak;  knowing  that  because  you  are  still  so  inherently  you  that  you  could  not  let  a  new,  clean  slate  version  of  you  write  your  own  story  and  in  killing  him,  you  repeat  your  history  by  hurting  and  betraying  someone  you  actually  cared  deeply  for. 

drei  )  ikol-as-kid-loki  has  the  audacity  to  mourn  for  her,  as  only  loki  is  able  to  mourn.  keeping  her  safe  is  such  a  vague  excuse,  even  if  he  thought  it  was  true,  and  the  two  of  them  know  it.  she  knows,  just  as  well  as  he,  that  the  betrayal  was  even  worse  because  he  didn’t  even  give  her  the  kindness  of  a  lie.  he  refused  to  look  at  her  as  hela  sent  her  away;  he  gave  her  nothing  to  tide  her  rage  over  until  she  grew  into  hela  (  which  puts  hela  in  such  a  weird  conundrum  and  paradox;  leah  is  always  going  to  grow  and  be  hela,  and  hela  will  always  lose  her  hand  and  create  leah.  i  guess  old  loki  is  the  main  reason  she  is  hela,  but  it  doesn’t  explain  why  he  calls  her  daughter  or  why  ikol  says  the  stories  are  confusing.  marvel:  explain.  )

sechs )  loki,  you’re  a  terrible  writer.  you  wrote  her  --  since  this  is  the  leah  from  everything  burns  is  it  not;  the  original  leah  was  turned  back  into  hela’s  literal  hand  --  to  be  just  the  love  interest  of  the  serpent,  then  you  gave  her  an  end  to  “write  her  own  story”  and  then  you  sent  her  to  before  humanity  was  birthed;  some  b.f.f.  you  turned  out  to  be.  and  that’s  not  ikol’s  doing,  that’s  loki’s  doing.

Some musings for the Jugdral fans on specific picks (cause those guys should look pretty familiar for the most part but some of them don’t and that’s what I’ll go into here)

-Sieben went from Bishop to Great Lord since I needed a Siegmund. And since his Awakening counterpart Equus was a Paladin he was the most fitting choice.

-Similarily, Neun got a horse for the Sieglinde. She already was a Swordmaster, this one isn’t too far off.

-Acht went from Sage to Mage Knight because I didn’t want any overlapping classes and Sechs was already a Sage. The reason why I didn’t just make Sechs the Mage Knight (she does have a horse in Awakening) was because that would’ve just turned her into a carbon copy of Selena. She has Bolting because she’s a Thunder mage and it just so happened to be the best thunder tome in FE8 for her to use.

Vienna, 5:00 pm, March 26, 1827  

Outside Beethoven’s rooms at the Schwarzspanierhaus, a fresh measure of snow from a late season thunderstorm muffles the chimes of St. Stephens Cathedral as they ring out the hours for the old city.

Beethoven, three months past his fifty-sixth birthday, lies in a coma, as he has now for two nights, his body bound by the betrayal of an illness whose only virtue was that it proved incurable and would, thankfully, be his last. Though his chest muscles and his lungs wrestle like giants against the approaching blackness, his breathing is so labored that the death rattle can be heard over the grumblings of the heavens throughout his apartment.

What initially got you interested in writing? 

My love of reading as a very young child fueled my passion for “story” and ultimately writing.  I was often 3 or 4 years ahead of my grade level as early as Kindergarten. Stories fascinated me and I simply could not get enough.  I read everything from “Dick & Jane,” and the expected children’s books to the New York Times and hardbound monthly editions of Horizon Magazine and American Heritage.

How did you decide to make the move into being a published author?

I had always wanted to be a working writer and was fortunate enough to be able to publish magazine articles, short stories and a book on my mentor, the novelist John Gardner, not long after finishing graduate school. My early works earned for me several scholarships to Middlebury College’s Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference as well as three Washington, D.C. Endowment for the Arts Fellowships – but none of this was enough to earn a living.  A few years later I moved to Hollywood, attended the American Film Institute as a Screenwriter Fellow and spent the next fifteen years working, writing and producing there.  I also taught both screenwriting and the craft of short story writing at UCLA.  Those classes became the basis for my second book, “Opening the Doors to Hollywood,” published by Random House.  “Beethoven in Love; Opus 139” a novel, just came out this year but has its roots in a work I was drafting back then.

What do you want readers to take away from reading your works?

Whether we are conscious of it or not when writing, (and hopefully one is always conscious) a book, a story, an article is always about something, it always presents a world view, an attitude, a philosophy of life.  In simple terms, you want the reader to finish your book, and feel as if they have not only been thoroughly entertained but that they have also learned something about life and the way of the world.  If a character does something, it has its roots in their behavior and thoughts and there are consequences that occur because of those attitudes and actions – and this is what I would not only want my readers to reflect upon when they finish but to also consider how those situations, behaviors, ideas might impact their own lives

What do you find most rewarding about writing?

I learned a long time ago that if you want a reader to take the time and effort to read your book and find your work compelling and engaging, you must also be equally passionate about what you create. I absolutely love the entire process of crafting a story, from jotting down ideas and doing research when necessary, to shaping each line, each paragraph, each character, each scene. I want to transport the reader into a vivid and continuous dream that is so powerful, so all-encompassing that the next thing they know is that someone is calling them to dinner.

What do you find most challenging about writing?

Not writing!  I hate those times in my life when I am unable to work.  Over the years I have been distracted or pulled away from my desk by other loves and necessities including the press of family, career or community involvement. I have served on many non-profit boards and even now I chair the Development Committee for the Santa Barbara Symphony – “The Best Small City Orchestra in America.”  I tend to be fully engaged with whichever activity I get involved with and thus have to spread my energy and time around.

What advice would you give to people want to enter the field?

Don’t!   Unless you do it with an all-consuming passion for the art and craft of writing.  Writing, especially as a career, can be frustrating, difficult and ever demanding work.  One should never do anything unless they are totally committed and passionate about what they are doing. And if you go into writing for any reason other than love, you will fail miserably and painfully.
