The thought made him smirk. His smirk grew as he set eyes on a pretty girl, knowing immediately he had to flirt with her. Okay, his newsies verse isn’t super fleshed out but honestly, he’s such a grump, this gruff, jaded pseudo-thug who really is just looking out for his family. And it could be real fun to balance his energy off of Ange’s!

Jack was dodging through the streets, selling his papes with ease. A made up headline here, a tragic sob story there. If he kept this up, he'd be done long before suppertime and could go on some small adventure with his left over time... but then he saw a pretty girl, and all thought of adventure left him as his face turned dopey, his mouth just barely agape for a moment before he caught himself and snapped it shut. He gulped and blushed, clearing his throat before looking determinedly away just long enough to run straight into the girl. He practically yelped, tripping over himself as he tried to steady her despite his nerves. "'m s-sorry, miss... 'm so sorry!" Where was his usual charm? Where was the cheeky confidence? Sure, it was all a mask, but normally it worked so well!

Oscar snorted. When wasn't he hurt? But he wasn't going to say that. "No, 'course not." He sounded smooth, and he probably seemed smooth untol he turned around and revealed the busted place of his cheek, a bruise where he had been hit so hard that it had broken skin. The breeze made it sting, but he tried to give a cocky smile all the same, even if it didn't reach his now nervous eyes. "Ya don't gotta worry about me, sweetheart... I can take care of myself..." Not that there was any reason to think that this girl, who was a frank stranger, would be worried... Not that there was any reason to believe he had some right to call he sweetheart... He didn't know this little rich girl, but he knew he wasn't going to show her any weakness. He refused to give people reason to pity him, especially when they had no idea what his stupid, rotten life had been like so far.

Morris was shaking, even though he tried to hide it by clenching his hands into fists and shoving them into his pockets as he looked at the girl with wide, startled eyes. "N-no!" He answered far too quickly, and of course his voice shook. He did his very best to not just run away from this weird and uncomfortable encounter, but keeping his feet rooted was difficult. He felt his face heat up as he started to blush and looked away from the very pretty girl so that hopefully she wouldn't see. What kind of a street thug was he, to be shaken up by a pretty girl seeming to feel some concern for him? Or was it just that she showed concern at all? He was a hopeless romantic... or maybe he was just hopeless. He kicked at the ground a couple of times before looking back up at her, wanting to say something, but not knowing what. He only managed a very quiet mumbled apology and a nervous laugh before remembering himself and taking his hat off, and respectfully looking down at the ground. That was the right thing to do, wasn't it? He wished he could twist it and wring it, something to do to hide the way his hands with their busted knuckles were still shaking, but he'd mess up his best hat if he did. What kind of man would he look like if he did that?

Morris was nervous… but that wasn’t saying much, was it? Honest, he had just wanted to see Angelique again. He hadn’t been stalking her or doing anything creepy… but he had been watching for her every single day, hoping that their paths would cross somehow. Or at leat almost cross. Maybe. Please? He froze when he saw her on the other side of the road as he went to get lunch for him and his brother, and it took him a moment for his brain and heart to get started back. He knew what he had to do. He had to talk to her. He had to… Oscar could wait. He jogged across the busy road, dodging crowds and carriages and trolleys before carefully stepping into her path and taking off his hat out of respect. “H-h-hello, miss!” He sounded like one of the dumb newsboys, and he was sure he looked like one with the bright, dopey smile that lit his face and made him blush like a tomato. “I hope it a-ain’t bad of me, b-but I’d, I’d been h-hopin’ I’d s-s-see ya again.” Suddenly, his stomach dropped, and his nerves showed on his face as he began to wring at his hat. “Th-that’s ok… a-ain’t it? I h-hope it a-aint’… “C-c-cause I’d n-nevah wanna fr-frighten ya or n-nothin’...”
