Sméagol and the Gift
'Now!' said Sam. 'At last I can deal with you!' He leaped forward with drawn blade ready for battle. But Gollum did not spring. He fell flat upon the ground and whimpered.
'Don't kill us,' he wept. 'Don't hurt us with nassty cruel steel! Let us live, yes, live just a little longer. Lost lost! We're lost. And when Precious goes we'll die, yes, die into the dust.'
Devastated by this. Just a little longer, he begs. Even though his existence is a torment. Even though the will that holds him to life is barely his own anymore. He has long outlived his time but it's such a cruelty that now the only freedom for him is in death. I'm glad Sam didn't kill him but the whole scenario is awful.
When a mortal keeps a ring of power he does not gain more life, he continues, denied natural mortality as the fear of death is amplified and twisted into fear of separation, nothing matters anymore but the keeping, the continuing. In that miserable existence there is no peace, and at its end there is no graceful goodbye to life, there is only dust. Sudden, empty, and final.
It would take murder to spare him that. Or falling with the ring into the fire.
Bilbo let it go in time (did he feel anything when it was destroyed?) Frodo is freed of it now, though the toll it extracted for the separation was at very least a finger. It was too late for Gollum for the price to be anything other than it was, and that's brutal.
If you live long enough, death is no longer the enemy. What Sauron did to Gollum ensured that it would always be the enemy, to be feared and avoided for ever, once time and the ring had fashioned it into the only escape left. Evil.

Some Pirate Kazutora Headcanons
Kazutora prefers blades over guns, although he does have one gun on him most of the time. He’s known to be especially vicious with his word. But it isn’t his sword that people need to fear the most. Rather, they should fear the dagger he keeps on him. He’ll often strike lethal blows while others are preoccupied with his sword, leaving them exposed and open.
He enjoys taking care of the exotic animals and often will do so – Valhalla’s survival rate for exotic animals whenever they trade them has dramatically increased since he started to do this
Particularly enjoys fruits, especially oranges
Enjoys taking naps in a hammock if he's not seated on the bow of the ship or crows nest
Typically has several gold rings and necklaces on, he has a love for beautiful jewelry
Almost always has his hair in a fishtail braid or up in a bun except for the two front pieces
Often scouts out potential victims to target on the seas or rumors of treasure or riches at taverns when at port
His agility is the best on the Headless Angel ship, and in the whole Valhalla crew
Unlike a lot of the crew, he's not particularly superstitious but there are a few he's cautious on
If something needs smuggling in, it's often given to Kazutora due to his background in smuggling even before joining Valhalla
Tends to be a bit extreme on punishments if something is serious enough to evoke his intervention

Sometimes I think about that moment in NMH2 when Travis’s talks about how ‘despite assassins being super fucked up, are still human beings that deserve respect’ and I just… kinda get emotional over that because even though he is a pathetic loser, he’s not wrong!! He’s absolutely correct!!
Assassins are more than just tools! They are more than just bloodthirsty killers! They had lives! Dreams! Personalities! Interests!! Family!! They had things that they cared about but had no choice but to abandon them, because the life of an assassin is cruel one with constant competition. The genuine horror of it is realising that at any moment, a ranking fight would be set and on that day of the fight you’d have to accept the fact that you might not walk out the door, it’s sad!! It’s horrifying! And with each little bit of info on the assassins you get you can’t help but feel bad for them. Sure they knew what they were signing up for but that doesn’t mean they can’t have a dignified/honourable death !!

;;Interstellar Travelers (HSR)
Ver; 2
During their titanic fight in the Chasm, Yuuki and Lyza awakened to new abilities. Under normal circumstances, Yuuki would dispel the out-of-control Dark mud and free Lyza from the chains of her cursed Delusion. But with the addition of another Core piece of the Ruin Blade brought by someone, the sword awakened to its full scope of abilities for a moment. Unfortunately, Yuuki was incapable of controlling the sudden surge in elemental power and the resulting clash of unstable energy and Dark Mud flung the duo into a portal created by the sword. Taking them straight out of Teyvat to crash into the Astral Express in the middle of a jump to the Herta Space Station.
The blast severely damaged the blade and shattered its core before scattering across the stars, leaving the duo stranded on the now-damaged rear of the train. Despite the damage done, the Express crew was surprisingly understanding of the accident and their following predicament. After helping to repair the damage they had caused to the train, Yuuki asks if the two of them can temporarily join the Astral Express in their Trailblaze across the sea of stars. Both as a way to repay the kindness the group has shown them and to find and repair the Ruin blade in order to properly return to Teyvat. To her surprise, they agreed, and the adventurer was brought aboard the train as a Nameless, with Lyza as her partner. WIth a special device, they search the planets and stations the train stops at for fragments and pieces of the Ruin Blade and its core.
Yuuki, while heartbroken over the loss of her precious sword and friend Moon, is utterly elated at the prospect of a fresh new journey across multiple worlds. Going home quickly became an afterthought in her mind, with so much to see and learn in her widely expanded world. Unfortunately, she was weakened by the sudden ejection from Teyvat and its 'laws'. She struggles to properly utilize her Anemo Vision before and instead uses her abilities to strengthen her allies. As she adapts to the world, she follows the path of Harmony, utilizing Wind to deal damage to enemies using her sword.
Lyza on the other hand, finds herself getting stronger in this new environment. With her connection to the Heavenly Principles and other cursed powers severed by Yuuki, Lyza finds herself connecting to the sea of Quanta and resonating quite well with it. While she struggles to adapt to her new surroundings, she finds herself opening up to others much more easily due to the nature of her Delusion and state of mind changing. Unlike Yuuki she is unfettered in combat, using her changed abilities in full force on the path of Destruction.

I’ve been dipping my toes into larp which is very great but also like. Especially with oneshots, what are you supposed to do when you’re still attached to a character but the story has ended and the made-up world they inhabited and the other characters who they’d interacted with no longer exist, so they’ve just Ceased To Be, where are those feelins supposed to gooooo

Once upon a sunny day, with the kind of golden glow that can only grace the start of a perfect weekend, there was a girl with hair like the crest of a wave and glasses that caught the light just so. She stood on the cusp of the shoreline where the sand whispers secrets to the sea, fingertips grazing the tousled locks that danced in the salty breeze like tendrils of spun silver.
Her swimsuit, a canvas of blooming florals—tangerine, parsley, and a hint of blush—clung to her like a second skin, a tribute to summer's exuberance. She was, in that moment, the personification of youth and freedom, a figure sculpted not from marble but from the warm thrumming vibrations of light and life.
With a sigh deeper than the ocean before her, she lifted her gaze, a horizon of thoughts stretching far behind those amber-tinted lenses. They said you could find the whole world in a grain of sand, but she, she sought stories in the expanse of the azure above and the depth of the azure below.
In this slice of forever, she was a tale yet told, an adventure unfurling at the edges, the protagonist of a story that needed no words, for the sun spoke in hues and the waves in rhythm. Around her, the world turned, but in the still point of that turning, there was her: the girl with the seafoam hair and the summer-kissed soul.
Little did she know, eyes hidden behind the cool shade of her frames, each glance she cast to the far-off yonder etched lines of poetry into the sands of time—verses that only the bravest of hearts would dare to read, who, like her, understood the call of wanderlust and whispering tides.
And as the day stretched and yawned into dusk, her story remained—a story of a girl both in-between and wholly there, a figure not out of place but of the place, as integral to the canvas of the beach as the shy scattering of clouds above or the bold laughter of the waves below.
Anyone, with a beating heart of artists and daydreamers, would have savored her vignette, an ephemeral chapter penned in light and captured in a photograph, for all who wander the digital corridors in search of something genuinely beautiful and serendipitously serene.
