During a recent hike while surveying the fire damage to a nearby trail, I nervously approached my favorite oak tree, unsure of whether or not it survived. The Phantom trail, as it is known, was once a lush, moss covered forest 🌳 trail, but after the fire 🔥 is now a devastated and charred piece of earth, unrecognizable from its former self. I was relieved to see my favorite tree still standing, though it was completely black, having sustained quite a bit of damage battling the fire. To honor its fight for survival, I stopped to sketch it, as I have done several times in the past. Sharing my new workroom in my new to me home. I have a dedicated work space and a dedicated packing station and my shop is doing fantastic. I closed escrow here in #placerville just over 2 months ago and moved in just a few weeks shy of that. I had a lot of work done before moving in and after as well. I finally feel completely settled and really love it here. Words can never ever show how I really feel for all the support with getting me back up on my feet after losing everything in the #campfireparadise but I do hope by sharing a little of my journey it will show you how resilient we humans really are. The support came in so many ways, financially, purchasing from my shop, clothing, food, Amazon wishlists, friends, old neighbors, family, previous co-workers, people I don’t know and will most likely never meet but I’ll never forget any of you!
