Sanni Hakala and her wife, Danny Stone
Finnish national team player and HV71 captain Sanni Hakala was severely injured in a collision with a goal post during a Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) match last month. The accident left her paralyzed from the chest down, ending her ice hockey playing career and presenting many new challenges.
If you are able, please donate to the GoFundMe established in her name to help cover her extensive medical expenses. The fundraiser is in Swedish krona (kr or SEK), which is easily converted to US dollars (US$1 ≈ 10kr) or Euros (1€ ≈ 11kr).

Noooo I didn't want it to be between Sweden and Finland for the 5th place and stay in the A-world cup 😭 but of fucking course we ended up having to play each other like the Magda vs Pernille last decisive qualifier in the group for the 2019 world cup 😂
We actually did way way better against Canada than I'd thought. What an incredible match with a last seconds 2-2 equaliser forcing Canada into overtime sudden death. We haven't been close to make them nervy in a very very VERY long time in a championship. To play like this against Canada on their home turf is an incredible feat. I feel like our ice hockey wnt is on the up again after years down in the dumps
Finland has gone downhill past few years with womens ice hockey... Sad to see that. 🫠

🇫🇮 Naisleijonat players Minttu Tuominen and Eveliina Suonpää have joined the board of SJRY, the Finnish Ice Hockey Players’ Association. SJRY is Europe’s most powerful hockey players’ association and the world’s second biggest, right after the NHLPA. The inclusion of active women’s players on the board is an important step forward for women’s ice hockey in Finland and demonstrates a degree of commitment to supporting women’s players throughout their careers and into retirement.
