♛THE HISTORY♛

It is possible that Lennox was born an over-achiever with a keen eye for numbers and an even keener one for the path of a bullet before it hit a target. Being born a family that dealt purely in the underground could do that to a person; and her father never hid his business dealings from her. At five years old, she stood out back in their grandiose yard and held her first hand gun- as if she’d grown up in the country. She was shooting targets from yards away before she could properly hold a fork and knife. As she grew, she was surrounded by the best of the best when it came to tutoring. And she was toted around by her glamorous and mostly made of plastic mother. On the weekends, her father took her to his office and taught her everything he could about keeping her head up in shady dealings. It wasn’t until she hit the private school sector as a teenager that she realized her life was not exactly normal. Not everyone knew how to pull apart a firearm and clean it in under two minutes. Not everyone could do complex math without touch a pen to paper. And certainly none of them could keep up with her track record in sports. Over her four years spent, she marked highest in Archery, Soccer, and Swimming. In two consecutive years, she took her swimming team to finals and won.

It wasn’t until her first year of college that she had an encounter with love and heartbreak. Jason was one of those traditionally handsome men. Not very smart, because he was there on a scholarship for football. But he had deep brown eyes that looked almost like melted chocolate and a hair softer than silk. And for three semesters, they made it work. She’d even brought him home to meet her parents. Her mother had warned her over Thanksgiving dinner that, perhaps, she should be more careful. That’s the kind of boy that’ll leave you in the dusk, Lenny. She didn’t want to believe her. The moment she stumbled into her best friend’s room to find her then-boyfriend naked in the corner was quite the eye opener. She’d never had the opportunity to be that angry; and she hadn’t even cried. In fact, it was the first time her fingertips had itched to feel the trigger beneath them with the intention of hitting something other than a sandbag. Luckily for him, they didn’t allow guns on campus- unlucky for him, her father was a very powerful man with just as powerful friends. The moment she called him with her voice trembling, he’d promised he’d take care of it. A week later, Jason disappeared. She felt no sorrow from it- but she’s held the secret tight against her chest since.

Upon graduation, she came out of her four year college with a bachelor’s in accounting. It wasn’t the most exciting of degrees, but she was damn good at it. And thanks to her friends, she landed a job fairly quickly as the head of accounting in a law firm who dealt solely in criminal defense. She didn’t see many of the clients, but those she did encounter gave her a thrill she could find nowhere else. These men and women had killed people. And under the lawyers they hired, were likely to get away with it. It was a combination of being so close in proximity to danger and her constant underlying desire to watch someone bleed that led her out of the office during her fourth year of working there. It was as if a light had switched on in her head one morning. She’d awoken almost neurotically, gotten dressed, headed inside and stood at her desk with the papers strewn all over it and stared.

When she left that god-forsaken office, she barely looked over her shoulder. It almost came as a complete coincidence that the very same day, her mother’s body turned up in an alley in a very dodgy part of town. Her father, beside himself with grief, lost all his sense for his business. This lead to Lennox’s first contract- to find the man who’d taken her mother. It took her one month to find him- a lowlife drug dealer looking for quick cash. She’d tracked him to the docks, and made very quick work of his skull with a rifle from the top of a shipping container. Her time spent atop the container led her to seeing the Faction at work- and though she had no idea who they were, it was enough to garner her attention. And even more so- she wondered if she might find a place among them if they were willing to pay that much cash for a simple drug deal. The rumors of the war between the Kovali and The Faction were not unbeknownst to her- and she knew she could easily fit into both if it meant she got to sate her blood-lust, and her need for pretty things.

So, she trained. She trained until her body ached, and her fingers were raw. Trained until she passed out. Learned how to make herself disappear in a crowded room, learned how to track even the smallest of evidence to a victim. It wasn’t until three years later that she felt she was finally ready, and the first person she approached was the Illegitimate with an offer- and a hefty folder filled with her work. She could negotiate prices per hit, but she would not waiver her base pay. With her biggest challenge being The Contractor, and her own personal vendetta against them, she often spends her free time coming up with ways to infiltrate the Kovali to get to them. Her father’s business passed on to the highest bidder, which barely affects her. But she does her best to regularly visit him, even if he is slowly withering away from the loss of his wife.

During the attack on Navy Pier, she found herself trapped in the maze; but came out with little injury. She had been tracking Ismael’s movements that night, and had only hoped the blast could take him out. Unfortunately for her, it did not. During the Festival, she witnessed a betrayal that could help her infiltrate the Kovali further- Julian, left alive by the grace of a Kovali gun. This surprised her, but the shootout quickly won over her attempt to work out exactly why he hadn’t been killed right then and there. She disappeared just before the cops raided the grounds, and hunkered down in her apartment for the next week. Now, she’s emerged just in time for the Mayor’s speech, with a brand new outlook on her predicament with The Contractor and the Faction’s hold on her.
