That Kagetora post doesn’t say anything about subverting Takeuchi’s artsytle. It just points out similarities in two design’s posture and how it narratively connects the two character, and y’know, similarities in designs by the same artist happens a lot. That’s not a subversion at all.
Sorry if I’m bothering you with this by the way. I just want to know your thought process since I can’t understand entirely how you reach the conclusion.
im not responding if you send more after this.
Kagetora, likely unintentionally, being in Takeuchi's artstyle is genius.
Takeuchi is the "default" of fgo. And stylistically, he copy pastes so much of his stuff.
This fits Kagetora's facade of humanity perfectly. The similarities are artificial. From a Doylist perspective she has the same posture as Gudako because Takeuchi is lazy and did the same shit for Valkyrie
the Watsonian explanation is that Kagetora has spent her entire existence seeking to be an "ordinary" person and Ritsuka's whole deal is being a blank slate everyman. They are defined by how unremarkably average they are.
For Kagetora's lifetime of seeking to emulate humanity to just happen to result in the same posture as "Completely Ordinary" Gudako before ever even meeting Gudako is brilliant.
The subversion is that instead of being obvious laziness that contributes nothing to the character except a distraction that makes them feel less special, as is an issue with frankly a plurality if not majority of Takeuchi's servants at this point, the similarities in Kagetory actually add something to her character
to put it more rudely, the subversion is in the fact that i have anything positive to say about it at all. Because every other time it adds nothing whatsoever. Subversion is defined as "refers to a process by which the values and principles of a system in place are contradicted or reversed". It is a reversal of the standard for Takeuchi's laziness to in any way benefit a character.
