(another) Find The Word Tag Game
"Tagged" (read: piggybacking off another open tag) by @dragon-swords-prophecies :D
In case anyone wants to join in but doesn’t know how to play, you search for the given words in your manuscript, and share a short excerpt from your writing that contains the Key Words.
Like the person I got it from, this is an open tag: if you want to play, just say you got sent from me, and your words are solid, hungry, high and shadow.
Quotes under the cut! If you're up to date on Written in Blood, these shouldn't come as spoilers, and if you aren't, well, here's a link. And these quotes are, surprisingly enough, pretty illustrative of the rest of the story so far honestly.
Love:
“I hate you.” “I love you too, Rex.” “I hate you so much.” “I know you do, Rex.” “You’re the worst friend ever.” “I know that means you love me.” “It does not,” Rex lied halfheartedly. “It means you’re the worst and I hate you. Obviously.” “Obviously,” Felyx agreed. “Let’s get you home before you pass out.” “I’m not going to pass out,” Rex said weakly, and then he passed out.
Loss: not in the document. ah well.
Sigh(ed):
Felyx sighed. “It’d be easiest to hang onto the power if you use the structures in place, you know that, right?” Rex snorted. “Okay. Fair enough. Congratulations, Felyx.” “What?” “How’s the House of Dayrunner sound to you?” “What?” “You’re right, it’ll be easiest to keep control if I keep the fucking nobility, right? And I did say I’d reward my supporters. I’ll give you the House of Astoria’s shit after I kill them all off.” “That’s… not what I meant,” Felyx said weakly. “At all. You know that, right?” “’Course.” “Then, uh… damn. Damn. That, uh, that sounds good to me.”
Story: this one is kind of cheating because all I got was "history" lol.
Later he’d hear that today’s crowd was smaller, but standing there again on the stained platform looking out at the apparently unending sea of faces, it didn’t feel that way. He hated that this was a good idea, because he’d have loved to just not do it, hand the executions off to someone else and watch. Gods. But politics was a game written in blood, and Rex was going to write his name into history with it whether they liked it or not.
