I love the cave scene in the movie. Even the part where they show a close up of gales face. It's a great opportunity to laugh at him and flip him off, which I always take.

Hi! My favorite THG thing is how it’s three books of unspeakable violence that all culminates in the realization that gentleness and compassion is more important than might or power. That Suzanne Collins repeatedly shows Peeta’s kindness and eloquence as the highest, purest version of humanity after Prim and Rue who only achieve their “perfect person” status due to their young age and how that represents innocence. Like. What?! That’s insane and amazing.

The scene in the first book where Katniss is reflecting on why she's so upset that Peeta's name was called is something I re-read all the time. When she talks about how he didn't just give her the bread at his own expense, but then she saw him at school the next day and when she looked away from him, she saw a dandelion, the first of spring, and how she can't disconnect the two in her head. She was ready to give up, she was ten years old, her dad was dead, her mom was checked out, she had prim starving to death at home, but Peeta gave her the bread and she went to school full for the fist time in months and at the same time, spring arrived and she knew she could take care of herself. Because of Peeta. He didn't give her the knowledge she needed to forage, that was her dad, but in her head, he is hope, and hope is Peeta and it's just so fucking beautiful

He's so gentle and compassionate and sweet, and he wants to do right by everyone and he wants to do good, and Katniss wants that in her life. She wants to do good, and she wants to be around people who want to do good.

I also like how Peeta is this guy, and he still has so much power. Gale, who is Peeta's antithesis on top of being his romantic rival, makes bombs and comes up with all these plans to win battles, but he doesn't have the presence or the power that Peeta does, and Peeta held a morphling as they died and told them to look at the sunset. stfu that's so beautiful and moving and lovely

I'd really like some canon information about Plutarch. Like what motivated him to shadow lead the rebellion? Where did he come from? He's a gamemaker, does that mean he had to have grown up in the capital? What made him decide to risk his comfortable life?

He's so good at it too. Manipulating people in just the right way to get the desired outcome.

Oh my goodness.

Finnick and Katniss are both tortured in the quarter quell by the thought of the people they love being tortured, when they get stuck in the sector with the jabberjays and they think Annie and prim and gale have been tortured.

And then the capital tortures Annie and Peeta to get to Finnick and Katniss.

They both lost their minds in the arena. They showed Snow exactly how they would react. Snow knew how to get to them. How helpless they would feel not being able to help, not being able to do anything.

Okay on to catching fire. Sometimes this one is my second favorite and sometimes it's in fourth place. One time during a depressive episode in college, it was the only thing I watched for a week. No matter where it's placed, I have a lot of feelings

I love the scene where they destroy the dam in Mockingjay Part 1. It fit so well and the fact that Suzanne Collins really pushed for that scene proves that she knows the limitations of books as an author and she knows the benefit of movies/tv as a screenwriter. The scene never fails to give me chills.

GAH! I love this scene. And they paired it with the song, that switches keys and it sounds like children are singing it! It gives me chills to. That scene and the scene in the woods where the rebels climb the trees and shout 'IF WE BURN, YOU BURN WITH US!' I also get chills when Katniss says that for the first time too, and again when District 13 shows the propo to their population in the bunker. It's all amazing.

They did such a good job of capturing how that spark turned into a fire.

I was watching Enola Holmes with my little sister last night, and there's a scene where someone is trying to stage a walk out. And when they tell everyone to follow them out, they don't. Because walking out is a BIG thing. So someone else starts stomping their foot on the ground in dissent, and then everyone else joins in. It's a lot easier to make a big choice, like blowing up a damn, if it starts with a little choice, like holding up three fingers to show you respect someone's choices and bravery.

It didn't start with people knocking over silos and breaking equipment, and blowing shit up. They showed their dissent quietly at first, and when that was met with violence, they returned it in kind and it grows so beautifully and tragically throughout the story.

Rewatching the Hunger Games because I saw your post, and on Catching Fire.

And I just want to say that is super tragic that Finnick literally saves Peeta's life and ten minutes later has to say goodbye to Mags so he can save Peeta's life again.

Poor Finnick 😞

Right!?!

I think he knew that district 13 wasn't gonna save mags anyway, and the capital would have tortured her if they got her. Finnick knew what was going on and he knew katniss would be useless without peeta after his heart stopped. He realized that her feeling weren't fake.

AND THEN THEY LEAVE PEETA BEHIND SMH

Every time I watch the scene where she says “And if we burn, you burn with us!” I think, this time I won’t get chills. I’ve seen this movie 40948350 times, I’m not gonna get chills this time. And then I do. And I start crying.

Ohmygosh yes there are a trillion favorite-worthy things about thg (peeta being like at least a million of them) but what first comes to mind is how every chapter ends with such thrilling cliff-hangers that keep me on the edge of my seat the whole way through and make it physically impossible to put the books down once they’ve been picked up!!

Also the ending of the series. It’s perfect.

(This reminds me that I need to finish your thg jily fic the second I have some free time I love it so much!! 💕)

The books are beautiful masterpieces. So good. I'm always rereading one of them lol

Also Peeta being a million of your favorite things is totally fair and valid!

lol I have three fics! Only one multi chap, and one of the one shots is like an epilogue for the multi chap, but that was so much fun to write because I got to fangirl the entire time over two of my absolute favorite things. The hunger games, and Jily! Truly amazing experience for me.
