Past:

Meredith was a Fell, a founding family member of Mystic Falls which gave her like many others information to things kept secret to the rest of the town. Unlike other children of founding families however Meredith was never shielded away from the truth of the town and the darker parts of the history. Her Grandfather was attacked leaving him alive luckily but traumatised, Meredith told the truth by her parents at age 10 and expected to handle the information she was given like an adult. Due to this Meredith in a lot of ways grew up way too fast, so she indulged the most she could with growing up. Which meant late nights drinking, parties and dating the wrong boys. Including her ex-boyfriend Brian Walters who dumped her on Prom night on Wickery Bridge of all places. Eventually Meredith grew up and out of Mystic Falls following her dreams of becoming a doctor Harvard Medical. The secret to her work however was that Meredith had been using her childhood knowledge to procure Vampire blood for a long time now. Watching people die during her residency had taken a hard toll on her driving her to drink more with every lost life. So she found it well within her right to save people the best way she knew how. If it was getting the job done Meredith failed to see what could be so wrong about it.

This became all the more difficult however when the ‘animal attacks’ as her Ex Brian had begun naming them in his coroner’s notes, began happening. Meredith met Alaric Saltzman the new member of the Founder’s council there to represent the Gilbert’s. He was handsome and a bit dorky with a taste for bourbon as well, all leading to the pair dating. However it also led to the death of her ex-boyfriend Brian after he’d been a jackass to her in front of Alaric. She grew suspicious and eventually her worst fears were confirmed that he had been killing people, somehow possessed by a dual personality created by the trauma of dying and coming back to life one too many times.

They thought it was under control with the help of Bonnie’s herbs however that soon proved to be wrong and as Esther attempted to turn Alaric into a Vampire they all stayed with him as he chose to die instead. Brokenhearted Meredith gave him a sedative to make it as painless as possible. When Elena had been taken to the hospital Meredith had luckily enough been on call giving her Vampire blood for the cerebral hemorrhage she had and lying to say it was simply a concussion when she was healed. In the process of leaving she was caught up by a now Dark Alaric flanked with members of the council all now aware of her secret work with Vampire blood, destroying her supplies and running her out of town.

Present:

Driven away from Mystic Falls, Meredith found herself moving to the biggest supernatural hub she knew of, New Orleans. It had a large enough Vampire population that she knew she could continue on her work. The politics of the city although interesting to Meredith weren’t something she necessarily agreed with. However she did appreciate the streamlined work of keeping the humans of the town safe and for the most part the vampire caused deaths to a bare minimum. She found a new job as a Doctor at St. Thomas Clinic & Health Center, with a fresh incoming supply of Vampire blood courtesy of Marcel and an agreement given to her with the help of Father Kieran. She became a member of the human faction happy with the new home she’d found for herself in the city. It wasn’t perfect but for once she didn’t have to look over her shoulder and worry all the time.

Connections:

Jesse Laurent: Meredith looks at Jesse and can’t help but see some of herself there in him. He’s brilliant and innovative, he’d make an amazing Doctor but she can’t help but be worried about him working for Doctor Wes Maxfield. Something about him doesn’t feel quite right to her, sure they share a similar interest in blood work and how vampire blood can help but something feels sinister to her. She feels the need to lead Jesse over to her side and protect him.

Father Kieran O’Connell: Being from Mystic Falls it’d been surprisingly easy for Meredith to take notice of who represented the humans in New Orleans when she first moved. She needed Vampire blood for her work and talking to Father Kieran telling him about her research had gotten her just what she needed. Now when he needs someone to confide in and plan with Meredith is there.

Damon Salvatore: Meredith and Damon’s relationship had a fairly rocky start considering his insistence that she had to be evil. However with their shared affection for Alaric that soon melted away into more of a fond annoyance. His arrival in New Orleans only brings up painful memories of Alaric and she’d rather avoid him if she could.

character’s story:

So, I have two options, thanks to the idea of a friend. You can either play this character as his biological sister, or as his adopted sister (in which I would prefer a POC faceclaim)! I’m open to either/your ideas for her. 

Essentially, Asher’s sister is the eldest of the two, and the golden child of sorts in the King family. They’re elite as hell, well known Upper East Siders in the world of New York — think Gossip Girl, if you must. She’s working to take over the family business — help me decide what that is lol.. maybe advertising or a law firm? i’m indecisive af — and that essentially drove something of a wedge between her and Asher, their differences showing as they grew older. Despite this, they got along relatively well. His sister always strives to please their parents and is determined to make them proud, no matter the cost. I’d say she’d even be ruthless in business, but she has a soft spot for her little brother. 

You can read a little about Asher’s background here, and find his biography here, but basically he never really had a good relationship with his parents, always rebelling against their expectations of the two kids in the elite society of New York. The two come from mega wealth, basically, and Asher never followed the rules no matter how much their father tried to instil those values in him. At 18, their father couldn’t take it anymore and gave him an ultimatum that led to Asher being kicked out — he chose music over college. Their dad never saw that as a suitable career. Ever since, Asher hasn’t spoken to his father, has spoken to his mother over the phone not even a handful of times, and saw her once or twice when returning to New York. The only person he keeps in contact with, is his sister.

Despite the fact that they maintained contact, Asher and his sister haven’t seen one another in over two years after the tragedy of losing his girlfriend to a car accident. Now, his sister is returning to town with the hopes of getting Asher back on board with speaking to their parents, with the end goal of encouraging him to take responsibility and have him join her in taking over the company. She puts on the facade of taking over the New Orleans office, renting a house in (you choose the neighbourhood), and wanting to reconnect with her brother at the same time. This will likely lead to a lot of tension and Asher ultimately feeling betrayed when he finds out her true intentions.

Additionally, and this is just how I view a little of her personality.. I’d say she’s very much the epitome of upper east side class. She comes to New Orleans with low expectations of the place, with the sole purpose of luring her brother home to New York for the above reasons. But despite the fact she feels she doesn’t quite fit in with the quirky New Orleans lifestyle, I sort of see her starting to really fall in love with being there. It may be a good plot line to explore, but isn’t compulsory whatsoever.

Description of the connection:  

They met at the law firm in New York, both lawyers, they competited really but it was mostly flirting. Seeing who could win more cases, find more information, etc. That eventually turned into more than that and they drunkenly got married one night. It was a bad idea and they stayed married for a while. The fighting continued, the make-up continued. Just a terrible loop. Until Victoria cheated on her with an old friend. When she walked in on them the next day the divorce papers were drafted and she left leaving for Charlottesville. Victoria followed but for her she was headed to where that friend she was sleeping with lives...Pine River. Victoria is here for sign the papers and move on with her life.
