Day 19: Fantasy - - This is my Umi Ryuuzaki costume from Magic Knights Rayearth. I made it in 2008 I think. It was a really ambitious project at that time. We didn't have the materials or resources we do now so all of the armor was made by heating and shaping XPVC and found plastic objects. It was my first time working with resin. It was also the first and ONLY costume I have ever pulled an all nighter for. I HATED this costume once it was done because making it was such a miserable experience, but I am thankful for it because to this day I will never let myself crunch that hard again. #fallforcostume Day 1: Intro Hosted by @redthreaded --- Did you know my social media handle is based off my childhood nickname because apparently when I was little I would do everything super fast and my little brother couldn't say 'Alex' fast enough and had to shorten it even more to 'Ax'. Then it was added to acceleration because I like to go fast. 😘 Even more exciting is that it has the name amount of syllables as my full name. Alexandrea. Axceleration. Worked out really well! --- I work as a freelance costumer and wardrobe supervisor. And Alex is a really common name and a lot of times on set there's a few of us and it gets confusing over the walkies. So on set my nicknames are: Pinky (because of my awesome hair) or Crazylegs (because of my amazing leggings collection and because I'm always running around) --- When I'm not working on a cool Hollywood project I work as an office assistant for a shipping and trucking company. ..:GREEN:.. • Saria from Zelda: Ocarina of Time is one of my oldest costumes I made back in 2015 for my first competition at @connichiwaaz! It wasn’t super clean but I custom dyed just about every green piece on this costume. Originally I even dyed the wig from blonde to a forest green using sharpie ink. I will probably never do that again because no matter how much I washed it, the alcohol ink still rubbed off. This was before the days of polyester dye. • I wish I had taken more WIP photos of all the dying I did. Especially the turtleneck. It was a bright red when I bought it. I had removed the red color and re-dyed to the dark green you see here. I learned so much from this costume!
