Adam is not actually alone–God is present with him... The word “alone” (’bad’ in Hebrew) doesn’t at all suggest loneliness nor does it mean simply “singular.” It [can mean] “in separation” or “moving apart.”... Eve was the answer to the world’s first crisis. The problem being...God knew Adam’s heart was in danger... Adam needed face-to-face, heart-to-heart help from someone who represented God... Ezer has less to do with assisting someone than it does with truly coming to the help, the aid, and the rescue of a person. Eve is the revelation of Eliezer (el-ezer) which means the power and protection of the “God of help”... Eve is the “image and likeness” of the God who saved Moses from the sword of Pharaoh... Since Eve is the revelation of the God of Help, it’s not surprising that the word “helper” (ezer) is used throughout the Bible in its feminine form ezrâh in reference to God when She comes to humankind’s rescue [Ps 22:19, Ps 46:1].

Line Upon Line Lesson 002: Strong Military Aid

Genesis 2:18 - And the Lord God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

Many people read this verse and assume that woman was created to be subordinate or subservient to man.  They have the view that a woman was merely a domestic servant to cater to man’s needs or desires.  However, this is simply not true in the context of this passage.

Let’s read together Exodus 18:4; Deuteronomy 33:7; and Psalm 33:20.

The word “helper” is translated from the Hebrew word “ezer.”  This word appears about twenty times in the Old Testament and is usually used in the context of strong military aid or rescue.

Woman was not created to be a servant or slave of man, but to be his mighty companion!  As a suitable helper for man, woman was his complementary partner, doing for him what he cannot do for himself.

The world may demean women through misogyny and oppression but let us remember the creation ideal.

Why the Black Spitfire?

The Spitfire got into Israeli hands during the 1948 War of Independence and by the end of the war, most of the IAF's fighters were Spitfires of different models.

The pictured Black Spitfire (originally No. 2057) arrived in Israel in 1949 after the war. It served with the 101 in the same way as other Spitfires: reconnaissance and escort missions.

When most Spitfires were sold to Burma in 1954, Ezer Weizman, then commander of the Ramat David air force base and future President of Israel, argued in favour of keeping some units in Israel. The Spitfire was painted black with the number 57. Even though it was supposed to be used for training purposes, many considered the aircraft to be personally owned by Ezer Weizman and the plane was flown in numerous parades in Israel, becoming known as "Weizman's Black Spit".

The beautiful calm surface of this lake hides a deep abyss.

The locals call this The Devils lake and have many legends about it. It is forbidden to swim here. The depths of this lake have strong currents and can pull you under so quickly you won't even have a second to take your breath. People who have disappeared in this lake have shown up weeks later in another lake nearby, so it is likely these lakes are connected with underground water caves.

Water contains quicksilver and iron salts, and the surrounding marshy areas contain methane gas, all this can cause dizziness and confusion, likely contributing to the local stories that the lake is cursed.
