Republicans going broke, Proud Boys/Oath Keepers going to prison, FOX paying almost a billion, Tucker, Rudy, McCarthy, and Meadows ruining their career...
All because lying for Trump is the Republican job description. It's their job. It's a compulsion.
You can not speak truth and/or use facts AND work in the Republican Party.
And then these assholes say, 'Go woke and go broke'. The pathological projection is so pathetic.

Currently listening to "Running Against the Devil" by Rick Wilson (2020). Liked "Everything Trump Touches Dies", so I went for the follow-up. If you're a fan of Hunter S. Thompson, you'll like Wilson's style.

Republican albatross.
Tumblr media
November 14, 2022
When Donald Trump plowed through a contingent of lightweight contenders to seize the GOP nomination back in 2016 and then went on to get elected president (thanks to Vlad Putin), the Republican base decided he was some sort of political mastermind. And that his candidate endorsements should be obeyed without question, no matter how unqualified, untested and unglued those candidates might be.
Trump's "complete and total" endorsement may be a valuable commodity during a primary contest when mostly MAGAs turn out to vote. But if the recent midterms have shown us anything, it's that Trump is a decided millstone around the necks of Republicans running in a general election. Nowhere was this fact more glaringly evident than in the races for governor that occurred last week.
In Pennsylvania, for example, Republicans put forward Trump imitator and state Senator Doug Mastriano, an election denier (he repeatedly claimed the Dems stole the 2020 election), insurrection participant (he was actually photographed near where the January 6 violence was taking place) and loud-mouthed Christian nationalist (he once supported a bill to mandate teaching the Bible in public schools). Fortunately for the Keystone State, this loony Trump-wannabe was soundly thumped by his Democratic opponent.
Meanwhile in Arizona, the Trump-backed nominee for governor, former TV news anchor Kari Lake, a crazed election conspiracist (she even claimed the primary she won was rigged), lost to former state secretary Katie Hobbs. And in New York, the GOP's gubernatorial nominee was US congressman Lee Zeldin, who voted to overturn the 2020 election results. Which naturally endeared him to the pathological ex-president. Wrote Trump, "He will be a GREAT Governor of New York." New York's voters decided otherwise.
Other loser candidates for governor — all endorsed by Trump — included Geoff Diehl (Massachusetts), Dan Cox (Maryland), Tudor Dixon (Michigan), Tim Michels (Wisconsin), Darren Bailey (Illinois), and Mark Ronchetti (New Mexico). Overall, Trump made more than 300 endorsements, mainly for candidates in safe Republican seats who were expected to win. But, as Susan Glasser observed in The New Yorker,
In seeking to play the role of Republican kingmaker this year, Trump succeeded in proving that the country did not want more outsider, extremist candidates in his own image. His tainted brand was magic to the Republican base, and proved to be toxic to everyone else.
Typically, Trump is reported to be "blaming everyone except himself" over last week's results, still insisting he's "a Stable Genius." But as one GOP insider told Faux News, “If it wasn’t clear before, it should be now: We have a Trump problem.”

"I don't have any money left, but I don't have anything less than I had before," he added. "I had a pickup truck and a house I live in, and that's it. I don't drive around and eat with two forks, okay?" Does anybody have any forks left to give? All the backstory is that Mike Lindell had a drug problem. And.....got over it...... Well, good on him. But for years he has been on camera shouting that in two weeks he will present devastating evidence. Of a thing. A nebulous thing. Meanwhile use code SILLY to get 67% off MyPillow. Or MySlipper. In the dusty barrens of news from last year you might find that Mike Lindell held a yard sale for most of his equipment. And the evvy-dents? Nope. Even got served a court order to pay $5,000,000 to the guy who showed his data dump was a dump. ETTD It's like 2/3 of forever to November, but I will be there.

[Recording Start] Rick Rosner: Ready? Okay. So there’s this Never Trumper, a former Republican strategist named Rick Wilson, who came up with a principle he calls “everything Trump touches dies,” shortened to hashtag ETTD. His theory is that Trump is such a disaster that anyone linked to him will likely end up unemployable. Any enterprise he’s involved with is bound to fail. Trump is essentially…

Listening to "Everything Trump Touches Dies" by Rick Wilson. Wilson's writing style is a cross between Hunter S. Thompson and George Carlin. It's a good read (listen), and occasionally funny as hell.

A government suffering from ETTD.
Tumblr media
August 4, 2022
Former GOP strategist turned never-Trumper Rick Wilson (pictured above after his escape from the dark side) is famous for coining the admonition "Everything Trump touches dies." A sentiment that couldn't be more on the nose because, throughout his pre-politics career, any endeavor connected with Donald Trump inevitably perished due to his incompetence, corruption and criminality.
Then, upon becoming chief executive of the federal government, Trump discovered an even wider scope for his lethal destructiveness. And for four years he utilized every government bureau within reach to serve his personal agenda of getting himself reelected, enriching himself at taxpayers' expense and wreaking vengeance on his perceived enemies.
One such federal agency is the Department of Homeland Security, whose officers were used during the Black Lives Matter protests in Portland, OR to kidnap people off the streets. As NPR reported,
Personal accounts and multiple videos posted online show the officers driving up to people, detaining individuals with no explanation about why they are being arrested, and driving off.
You say you want more? How about the US Postal Service under Trump appointee Louis DeJoy failing to deliver mail-in ballots in several key states? Or Bureau of Prisons officers using pepper spray to clear protesters from DC's Lafayette Park so Trump could hold a campaign photo-op in front of a church? Or the Trump-selected administrator of the General Services Administration refusing to certify Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 election in order to impede his official transition as the new president?
There's also the IRS. We now know they conducted tax audits of two Trump foes in 2017 and 2019, Former FBI director James Comey and deputy director Andrew McCabe, both fired and smeared by Trump for refusing to halt the investigation into his campaign's ties to Russia. According to The New York Times, out of a few thousand returns the IRS picked for audit (from more than 150 million), Comey's and McCabe's were among those chosen. The IRS says it was just a random coincidence. Sure, you betcha. Oh, and Trump lackey Charles Rettig still heads that agency.
Finally, we have the DHS inspector general, acting secretary and acting deputy secretary (all Trump stooges) reportedly covering up the deleting of text messages sent while Trump's mob was attempting the overthrow of American democracy. With the possible exception of the Bureau of Weights & Measures, just about every government organization has been fatally compromised and corrupted by Trump. Someone should come up with a succinct phrase for that. Oh, wait, someone did.
