Orko was in the dining hall. It was halfway between noon and night, so the room was deserted, giving him lots of space to do magic in. He was honestly supposed to being doing chores right now, but magic was far more interesting and Orko didn’t really like doing chores so he wasn’t doing them and he was doing magic instead, which would probably make Man-at-arms mad but that would be a problem for Orko later and not now. 

 The magic he was doing was from a spellbook he found, well, not really a spellbook, but more of a book about spells. Interdimensional spells! One of Orko’s favorite subjects, obviously. It didn’t have quite the spell Orko was looking for, but Orko was able to use his knowledge from other books he had studied to make the spell. It was kind of a seeking spell, but more importantly—

It could get him back to Trolla.

 He could open up a risk free commute between the two worlds. Imagine that, it would be so amazing! Orko closed his eyes as he finished the spell, and his stomach fluttered as he connected to the energies of the universe. And then he felt it! Magic, like his own, Trollan magic! Orko tried to open the portal. Right in the middle of the dining room, where he wasn’t even supposed to be doing magic, but he didn’t want to wait to move to another place to do the spell. The portal opened! 

Orko’s first impulse was to go get someone and show them that his magic was really working, but the portal would close soon. He looked at the door, then the portal, then flew through the portal. It closed behind him.

Orko wasn’t on Trolla. He wasn’t sure where he was exactly, but he was indoors, and the magic around him felt very familiar, and he realized--

“Huh??” Orko whimpered, “I’m still on Eternia!”

The normally peaceful green skies above the capital of Trolla had darkened to an ominous gray mossy-green, the storm’s epicenter becoming more and more defined any second. As the winds grew stronger it would soon open up, and the citizens of the city knew it, flying fast as they could to the nearest shelters they knew of. 

Flying fast—except for one. Kneeling over a jerry-rigged gadget, Kyleeth furiously hammered it into the ground, grumbling to herself. 

"Stupid flipping Hazik and his stupid flipping inventions never telling me until the last minute-- why did he need me?! He could have done this himself!"

Kyleeth groaned, lying down on the ground hoping not to get caught in the wind. Once he got wind that a mage storm was brewing Hazik burst into the library and shoved his newest device in arms. Some sort of device enchanted to to sense the infamous inter-dimensional rifts that often spawned during mage storms. Weather wasn't Hazik's specialty-- that was Ky's. Hazik was part of the team trying to create stable dimensional portals, and was convinced the secret could be found in mage storms. Ever since the idea came to the Trollan he was constantly bothering Kyleeth due to her own extensive experience studying mage storms. While she totally couldn't discount the idea, she felt that there had to be safer ways to consistently and safely cross dimensions.  

Yet here I am, hammering some doo-dad into the ground.

The gadget in place she pushed herself back up off the ground. It had to be placed with unhindered access to the skies so it wouldn't lose track of the storm, but it left her fully exposed to the storm. At this point the storm had picked up to such a point she didn't feel safe getting up and flying to shelter- there was no way she could escape the force of gusts. Her heart started pounding in her ears and the ends of her scarf were being tugged towards the sky, threatening to choke her.

Congratulations, Kyleeth, you made the dumbest mistake a storm researcher could ever make. 

That was the last thing she remembered thinking before the sky swallowed her whole.

~~~~~~~~ Kyleeth woke up to strange sounds all around her. They all seemed to be natural, but she couldn’t recognize a single one. Groggliy, she blinked open her eyes, finding herself staring up at an alien sky. 

She knew that this was possible, but she never thought she'd see it herself. Shakily, she sat up she looked around. The colors seemed upside down; the sky was blue while the grass and foliage were green. There weren't any immediate signs of life other than what seemed to be the sounds of wildlife calling from the bushes. 

Trying to collect herself, she sat still for a bit. It didn't feel real. Oddly enough, she wasn't panicking like she thought she would be. She felt detached from it all, as if she was watching from afar. 

Whether it felt real or not, she knew it was real, and she wasn't going to accomplish much by sitting in a field. She knew she had to find some sort of civilization and get shelter. Hopefully there'd be some inhabitants that would be willing to give her sanctuary. If it had civilized life.

She didn't want to think of the alternative. 

Getting up, she flew into the air, trying to get some bearings on where she was. She perked up slightly once she saw what looked like a complex of buildings not too far into the distance-- her luck seemed to be picking up at least. 

Lowering herself back down closer to ground level, she started flying in the general direction the buildings were in. She would survive this. She wasn't the first. If Montork's nephew, Orko could survive this, why couldn't she?

Aw, they’re not too hard to find or expensive*, they were just released at the beginning of the year as a part of a big wave of MOTU figures. (The squeeing Dorbz! figure I’ve never seen in the wild, but there’s plenty of places online, including FleaBay.)

I actually normally am not a big fan of POPs! but sometimes I give in with characters there aren’t a lot of merch of and honestly as other people have joked, Orko isn’t as distorted anywhere NEAR as much as most characters.

*Obvious exception being that sculpture that I’ll NEVER FINISH because I’m terrible

                                     it was    best    if one cat approached another,    MUCH TALLER    , cat.      (         it was reasonable         )      though even when in such a    cute    form there was something about   ‘    mr. snuggles    ’   , looking at that    BATTLE CAT    like it was their    next prey    .    TWO PERFECT SUNS    eating the other alive. kidd liked cats, would they abduckt this one   ??   only if it was worthy enough.      which was never the case      feline body moved closer, ever closer. best to    RUN AWAY    now, if you dare. mr. snuggles played with his food before eating.
