Ich glaube, es ist diese Mischung "kann nicht gut mit Menschen, but still cares so much". Er ist der Junge, der auf dem Schulhof verprügelt wurde (und wahrscheinlich vor Adam keinen richtigen Freund hatte), er ist awkward auf Partys, vermutlich haben Pia und Esther auch vor der "Leo hat nicht geschossen"-Aktion über ihn gelästert, und trotzdem.

Trotzdem versucht er im Job so sehr, Menschen zu helfen, zieht Adams Vater den Spaten über den Kopf, nistet sich freiwillig nächtelang auf Adams unbequemen Schlafsofa ein (RIP Leos Rücken...), weil er besser schlafen kann, wenn er weiß, dass Adam nichts passiert.

Second favourite canon thing ist, dass er gleichzeitig ne launische Bitch ist und das auch rauslässt, wenn seine Fassade (doch öfter mal) bröckelt. <3

9. Could you be roommates with that character?

Er ist tatsächlich einer der wenigen Charaktere, bei dem ich beim Gedanken daran nicht sofort schreiend wegrennen würde – was schon ne Leistung ist, weil ich allgemein viel entspannter bin, wenn ich meine eigenen geschlossenen vier Wände für mich habe.

Aber Leo stelle ich mir da ähnlich vor, oder zumindest so, dass er sich öfters auch mal komplett zum Regenerieren zurückzieht. Und selbst in geselligeren Phasen habe ich zumindest das Gefühtl, dass er lange nicht so viel Energie bei mir ziehen würde wie andere Menschen. Er hat einfach diese Vibes für mich?

Außerdem ist der so viel bei der Arbeit/Nachtschicht/Adam, dass er gefühlt eh nie zu Hause wäre, lmao.

12. What’s a headcanon you have for this character?

Ich hab eindeutig zu viele eher traurige Headcanons für ihn, deswegen mal als Kontrast: Hatte eine richtig krasse Pokémon-Go-Phase, mit sehr großem Ehrgeiz, nicht nur alles zu fangen, sondern auch Arenen für sein Team (Blau) zu besetzen und hochzuleveln.

Er hat sich natürlich eingeredet, dass er zumindest viel draußen ist und alles und dass das ja eiiigentlich gesund ist, aber wehe, ein anderes Team hat "seine" Arena (die nächste an seiner Wohnung, aber leider nicht nahe genug, dass man direkt von dort aus in ihr antreten konnte) erobert!!

Happy STS!! 💫 For any of your WIPs, how has your story evolved over time, and what has stated the same no matter what else changed?

Emerald Outpost evolved hugely. In the original, it was a Bourne-like thriller. All the characters were in the FBI, solving crimes like kidnapping and mass murder, and slowly realizing there was a conspiracy behind all of it. And then I eventually grew uncomfortable with the idea of writing about fun spy shenanigans set in the real world with all the pro-US political implications. So they became time-traveling anthropologists who were there to learn but stumbled upon a history conspiracy no one believed them about. The problem with that was that the story was still a spy thriller in my heart, so now they're real spies but in a future star system empire. There are still many of the political issues, but in this version I can explore them slowly without the guilt that someone will take the story as unexamined support for our government.

What has stayed remarkably the same are the characters and their relationships. Esther and Tony are still such close friends they consider themselves family. Esther's future wife (in 2 more books) is the same, though I might rename her. Their boss Minerva is still both a mentor figure and just as chaotic as the rest of them. And Esther and Tony will still acquire some children in a dubious and illegal way (spoiler alert).
