AUGUST 23rd 7pm Elena Pardo IN PERSON from Mexico City with TERRA INCOGNITA, TERRA INDOMITA.
Copresented Iris Film Collective and Cineworks.
This evening presents a selection of experimental films curated by Elena Pardo and Isabel Rojas that explore present and past untamed territories through a speculative gaze that subverts preconceptions about identity, ethnicity and territory.
Featuring many films originally created on 16mm and Super 8, these works hail from Mexico City’s Experimental Film Collective LEC and their friends. The programme is co-presented with Cineworks and takes place at their Black Box Studio, alley entrance 1131 Howe Street - FREE admission!
Films featured are by: Carolina Jaschack, Azucena Losana, Elena Pardo, Marcela Cuevas, Edén Bastida, Jael Jacobo + Ezequiel Guido, Daniel Valdez Puertos, Bruno Varela, and Annalisa Quagliata.
Don’t miss the rare chance to see these works and meet filmmaker and co-curator Elena Pardo.
PLUS:
Echo Park Film Centre presents a picnic with Elena Pardo & Friends! Sunday, August 28 11am-2pm. Elena will facilitate a relaxed “Expanded Cinema” workshop where attendees can experience the playful wonder of 16mm projection using various gels, filters and lenses to distort analog images.
Elena is a featured guest at the Vancouver Latin American Film Festival and will be presenting Pulsos Subterráneos, a live expanded cinema work, on September 3rd at the festival.
