This is a quick silly little one ,but imagine the reason Epel is a mean girl towards reader is because they like green/sour apples more then red/the sweeter ones.

First off he thinks red apples are the best apples. NOTHING will change his mind. Argue with the wall.

Like reader ate one of his family and said they liked the other one (not his family's apple) more. He just couldn't believe someone didn't pick his apple. The ones his grandmother's tree. He was upset to say the least.

So him being this petty menace that is acts this way towards reader (and everyone else) who doesn't like his family's apples.

And reader just wondering(panicking) on what she did to make him act this way.

epel would DEFINITELY not like you over what apples you like. yes he’s aware of how petty and superficial it is… but his grammy has always warned him about green apple enjoyers. they’re as sour as those apples.

i can imagine this going two ways:

1. he does everything, and i mean EVERYTHING- in his power to make you like his family’s apples. he’ll give them to trey to bake with, and if you comment on how good it is, epel’ll smirk and say “of course it’s good! MY family’s apples were used in it after all” and his chest will puff with pride and he’ll give a smirk acting like he out played you JCOAOEIFS

and if he sees you not eating his family’s apples AGAIN AFTER HE GAVE YOU A COMPLEMENTARY CRATE- you’ve just made your first enemy HAHSJXOAW

but also, if he sees you somewhere, trying to pick between his family’s apples and a different farm’s apple. even if you pick the other farm’s he knows it’s a waiting game at the point. your mind is already fighting against the effects of the green apples and you’ll see the light very soon.

or

2. he doesn’t try to get you to change your mind and automatically hates you😭😭 okay he doesn’t hate you per-say. but he’s wary around you.

the second option only happens if you’re not that close of friends and the first one is more prone to happen if you guys are friends. say: he’s already in the first year group- and depending on if we’re making this take place in ‘twisted anxiety au’.

it’s gonna be the second one first. yes that does make him a mean girl towards you😭

once again he realizes how petty this is… BUT DO YOU SEE THIS DUDE’S PRIDE??? HES SO PROUD ITS INSANE‼️ so ofc he’s going to treat his family’s life work the exact same way.

but if 🌀reader becomes more comfortable with him and they have a cute little moment that makes him realize ‘huh, maybe they’re not that bad’- then it’ll turn into him trying to get you to like his family’s apples.

whether by traumatizing you away from their competitors (think worm in apple, or you taking a bite from a rotten one thinking it was fresh), or the ways in reason 1.
