Scuffeon - The Skirmish Pokemon

This is probably one of my favorites so far in that I think it’s design really feels like it could be the real Fighting type evolution. Of course, if it was it’d probably evolve differently, but still…

Anyway, not too much to say about it! I made the ears be boxer glove like and tried to give it some sports tape/bandage like markings. Green shiny was purely just because I try to use green when I think it’ll be actually aesthetically pleasing, since green shinies are pretty disliked and I want to make nice ones when I can.

Art Summary of 2022!

Made this the other day, forgot to actually post it. Anyway, I’m unsure if I improved anymore this year compared to others, but I do think it says something that for quite a few months I had trouble picking which piece I wanted to use due to having multiple that month I liked!

(also as a note the art for July and November features characters that belong to _Ravex_ on Artfight and @/cashmonei on here respectively!)

#i feel like I’ve gotten quite a bit better at shading this year and making things look nice color wise? also this year is when I started #doing painting/realism again and that was very fun. i haven’t done any of that for a bit so maybe I’ll try to get back to that. #other notable art things this year include the new blogs I made: occasionally-checkers ask-amphibimon and eeveelutionproject #occasionally-checkers has been very nice for my creativity/experimenting with styles #ask-amphibimon has been super good for background practice and also I have fun drawing my blorbos #and eeveelutionproject has been very fun for trying to replicate the official pokemon style (though I this point in time I still have to #quite heavily reference official art…. hopefully gonna get more comfortable with that style as time goes on though) plus also designing #the stuff is fun #anyway apologies for the rambling I just wanted to talk a bit about positive stuff art wise! i sometimes struggle with liking my art so it’ #nice to just focus on what I do like about it

Ostreon - The Mollusk Pokemon

Evolves via a Shellder biting an Eevee’s tail

It’s been a while! This was the evolution I initially planned for April Fools, before motivation kinda slipped away… More on that later though!

So the evolution method for this one is a bit odd, but I thought it’d be fun to include semi-canonical evolutions. Like, Slowpoke doesn’t actually evolve like this in the main games, but according to the Pokedex it does (and it also is shown happening in Pokemon Snap).

Anyway, as for the motivation slump, I’m working through it! I’ve been making a lot of creature designs for an original project, so I’m back in my design-making groove. Eeveelutions are a fun break from the other stuff since the general body shape is already set. I already have a bit of a queue, so it will hopefully be a while before the next hiatus!

Cremeon - The Swirl Pokemon

Evolves via trade while holding the Whipped Dream

The biggest roadblock with this one was just figuring out how to design another sweets based evolution that wasn’t too similar to Sucreon. I decided to go a whipped cream and a light cinnamon roll theme though!

Figuring out abilities was a bit hard, cause I didn’t really want to use Sweet Veil since it’s such a generic dessert pokemon ability. Decided to go with Gluttony cause it fit the lore, but Pastel Veil was another consideration!

Learns Natural Gift upon evolution.

Frosteon - The Snow Flurry Pokemon

Evolves via exposure to an Ice Stone

Had some trouble figuring out what I wanted to do with this one, but ended up going with snow leopards and arctic foxes as inspiration.

I decided I wanted to contrast Glaceon which embodies the sharp and elegant features of ice, and instead go the route of soft and fluffy snow.

Not much else to say about this one! It learns Ice Fang upon evolution.

Chanceon - The Lucky Pokemon

An Eeveelution that evolves via landing 3 critical hits in a battle.

This was the first one I created! It’s based off four leaf clovers and rabbits, while the shiny version is based off black cats.

I imagine they’d learn Lucky Chant upon evolution!

Morneon & Eveneon

The Sunrise and Moonrise Pokemon

An Eeveelution that evolves from level up during the day and an Eeveelution that evolves via level up during the night.

The first of many sun and moon based evolutions! I’m not gonna make too many of them derivative of Umbreon and Espeon, since that’d get boring fast, but I figured the evolving during night and day one’s should be. The concept here is that due to the low level of friendship, they still have some Eevee traits.

This is also the first of many eeveelutions that are considered part of a pair. I like making designs where their meant to go together, so expect to see more in the future. Next week’s post is actually another pair!

Festeon - The Surprise Pokemon

Evolves randomly at some level after level 25

It took me a while to figure out the concept I wanted to go with for this method, but once I considered the idea of surprise parties, making a party/celebration themed one was easy! Piñatas, confetti, fireworks, and sparklers were all used as elements in this design.

I think the art for this one came out very cute, though I think I made the head a bit too big. Oh well! The main palette is just meant to be like a colorful piñata, while the shiny palette uses reds, yellow, and orange to better show off it’s fire typing.

Anyway, gameplay wise, I imagine Festeon would probably be the only Pokemon to learn Celebrate naturally instead of via event. I’m uncertain whether it should learn that via evolution or Present, though it definitely learns both eventually!

Drageon - The Drake Pokemon

Evolves via trade while holding a Dragon Scale

Not really too much to say about this one! I did design it with the idea of it being just a dragon-type eeveelution in mind. So it’s a bit simple.

I did want to try out doing a bit more of a dynamic pose since having them just stand or sit is a bit boring. Since I’m still getting used to the style, I referenced an Umbreon figure to figure out how the pose should look!

Anyway, they’d learn Dragon Rage upon evolution.

Racceon - The Bandit Pokemon

Evolves via reaching level 30 while Dark type is in party

Apologies for yet another dark type! I just have an easier time with them I guess.

Anyway, decided to go with raccoon inspiration for this one. Mostly just because it was cute, but also because we only have one raccoon pokemon atm. Also it was easy to make the name since I just needed to change one letter.

Don’t have much else to say here! It’s just one a dark type akin to Liepard or Thievul. It learns Theif upon evolution.

Linkeon - The Connection Pokemon

An Eeveelution that evolves via trade.

Back from break! Was a bit worried I wouldn’t be able to finish this in time since I haven’t been feeling well, but luckily I was able to. Anyway, this time is one of the more basic evolution methods!

Anyway design notes wise, I wanted to share that I made it have red and blue accents as a reference to the original games (also RS and SWSH). And then for the shiny colors, they reference the GSC colors since that’s when shinies were introduced!

Also, the dex entry is meant to imply that it can only recognize it’s current trainer. So if you have it temporarily traded to evolve and then traded back, it’ll act like it never left. As for why it seemingly doesn’t recognize prior ones? Perhaps it holds a grudge. Perhaps part of the trading machine making it more ‘robotic’ included it also only recognizing the trainer it’s ball is currently registered to. Perhaps there’s nothing going on at all, and the dex entry is just written by a biased source. Who knows! Meant to be one of those weirder dex entries that are open to interpretation.

Trickeon - The Reverse Pokemon

An Eeveelution that evolves via reaching level 30 while upside down.

This was a fun one! I tried to work in the “reversion” of the Eevee by making it’s hair similar to Eevee’s tail and it’s tail similar to an Eevee’s head. I also made it resemble a Shiny Eevee particularly just cause I didn’t really want to make it brown, and then the concept of it luring people came from that!

The mouth on it’s hair is just cause I felt like it needed something a bit extra. Plus it worked very well with the lore.

It learns Topsy-Turvy upon evolution.

Shuckeon - The Barghest Pokemon

Evolved from Eevee after traveling under the large rock arch in the Dusty Bowl after taking at least 49 HP

Initially had a different one planned for this week, but I’m still messing with the concept drawings of that one, so here’s this one instead!

Anyway, took some inspiration from Black Dogs from English folklore for this one. The fact they sometimes appear in storms is why they have Lightning Rod as an ability, along with the mention in the dex entry. The fact that they often are also considered hellhounds inspired the fire-like wisps and the curved, horn like ears. I imagine they’d also learn a lot of fire and electric moves along with their STAB ghost moves!

The dex entry mentions their eyes closed cause Black Shuck specifically is sometimes portrayed as a cyclops. Hence the big eye-like marking! Shuckeon sometimes close their eyes so they look like they only have one big eye as a way to scare people.

Baseon - The Plain Pokemon

An Eeveelution that evolves via level up.

Although this is actually the third one I’ve finished, I figure it should be the first I post! Honestly making a basic evolution for Eevee was hard, part of me still kinda thinks it just looks like a weird Eevee ^^;

Upon evolution it probably learns either Tri Attack or Metronome! As for what level it evolves, maybe level 100 and it learns lots of TMs to compensate for the lack of level up moves? Unsure.
