you really can’t think about the winchesters’ hunting history for more than like 10 seconds without it all falling apart. john raised them as hunters for nearly two decades and they never encountered a single vampire or shifter or half a dozen other creatures that they regularly bump into later??

#ivy.txt #skin in itself is a confusing episode like. #they’re piecing together what they think happened and dean suggests something that can change its form and sam says #‘a shifter?’ like it’s an entirely new concept and dean says ‘hey every culture has its shapeshifter lore’ or smth to that effect #which. to me implies that they and/or john have never personally encountered one #because otherwise! i assume they would’ve thought of it as a possibility earlier! #but then later dean is like ‘one thing i learned from dad is that no matter what kind of shapeshifter it is there’s one sure way to kill it’ #like ??? hello #edit: also are there ever different kinds of shifters later? i genuinely can’t remember
