Simplified Shopify Review

Simplified Shopify Review (Taylor Lane Course)

Simplified Shopify is an online course by Scott Hilse, claiming to teach you all your brain requires for launching a single product dropshipping venture on Shopify to earn thousands every week. His start product is an iPhone case that somehow has let him travel around the world.

I’ll go through the content in this review, and we’ll reach a conclusion on whether you should spend your money on it or not. However, it’s nice to see it towards the price range I prefer with a $297 tag.

First off, I need to point out how Scott first bought a trademarked domain to host his course. Shopify has strict policies with this, and it often ends up in warnings from the platform and rebrandings to avoid issues.

Rocky beginning

After a while from its release, the course got rebranded, so it seems he couldn’t escape that issue. Now, that’s something that could happen to anyone who hasn’t read the terms and conditions thoroughly, and with little experience overall regarding domain selling and branding.

Now, the question is: would you buy a business course from someone fitting that description?

His sales page is your usual sales page: a sales pitch and revenue figures. The good thing is that I can respect his motivation, and him being invited to the 300 group from Tai Lopez gives him credibility. The bad thing was the revenue figures which never mean anything.

Scott seems to be your run-of-the-mill guru, talking about revenue without accounting for his business expenses and his actual profits. Making $1,000 in a day is all great and very possible, but remember that comes after your marketing, hired staff, refunds, and any other costs you have.

The standard profit from dropshipping is around 20% of your revenue, and while $200 daily is nothing to scoff at, it’s not the $1,000 you’re being sold. Moreover, single product stores are definitely profitable, but the hundreds of thousands he’s selling you are probably overshot.

Reviewing Simplified Shopify

Before starting any videos, I was already underwhelmed by the actual length offered in this course. My first look at the video list gathered about 26 videos with different durations. Luckily, Scott’s presentation from the sales page is also presented in his videos.

You can also download videos to watch them offline, and you can download some complementary slides as well.

The first video goes into a look of his store, and it’s nice to see he doesn’t blank his dashboard like most courses out there. You can see his Shopify URL as well as the actual store it redirects to. In it, you get to see his legendary phone case making him 6 figures in just 7 months. It’s priced at $10 and offers worldwide shipping for $4.

However, this video shows you the issue with Scott’s selling: misleading. The title of the video is “$1600 per day template”, yet the dashboard clearly shows us $256 as the day’s revenue. Going into the store’s stats evidences how the store actually makes around $450 daily, and his $1,600 revenue was a single day back in December 2017.

The video then goes into a view of a premium theme, but it’s really not the one you want to use. I’d recommend you go with a much better (and cheap!) one like eCom Turbo before moving on.

The following video goes into setting up your store’s backend and some basic Shopify administration like your refund policy. The backend stuff is especially useful since many people don’t really know what to do with that. This section is complemented by the next video on domain linking.

The 4th and 5th sections are about Facebook Ads. This is where we learn how Scott actually sends traffic to his business. Can you notice how this is an expense he fails to deduct from his sales revenue on the sales page?

Anyways, you learn how to setup your page and business account as well as installing your pixel. It’s basic stuff, but the explanations given by Scott somewhat make up for it.

Next up, we learn about how Scott researches his products, and it’s nothing you can’t find for free online, but it’s also something many people won’t really think unless they search for it. You have your usual Facebook search, info section, and a few tools.

Then, there’s how to import and test your products with your FB pixel, and while it’s fairly basic, beginners will definitely learn from it.

The 9th module goes into something called “freedom funnel”, coined by Scott. Once you watch the video, you learn it’s just a bunch of apps recommended by Scott for boosting your conversions and optimize your store. It’s nice to see they’re free, but if you can pay for eCom Turbo, you’ll get all these features as soon as you install it.

There’s another video on how you can get lots of interactions on Facebook. It’s just Scott advising you to get your friends to like your page, but unless all your friends agree to liking it (and you have as many friends as Scott), it’s not a valuable tip. There’s also a view of My Luxury Rings, another store by Scott, but it’s closed with barely 18 likes.

The next module goes back into Facebook Ads, and it’s about creating your first campaign. It goes over what you want to keep an eye on to keep your campaigns successful. He also shows you some of his methods, including making videos.

There are some brief videos about fulfillment next. There’s not much here, and you’re better off using Oberlo as you start before saving money and scaling to Dropified.

The next video is about when you want to get your LLC. This won’t do much for people outside the US or dropshipping to it from China. However, if you’re based on USA or thinking about offshoring in Wyoming or Delaware to work with US suppliers, then you’ll be glad this is here.

The next video is how you can go to 10,000 orders from just 100 with FB Ads. However, some of you may also notice how this has to be taken from someone else’s. 10,000 sales a day would quickly make him around 100,000 in revenue in just one day, and this course would have a completely different marketing approach.

Finally, you have some videos on outsourcing, manual bidding, getting traffic for free (neat), converting into a niche, and when you should sell your store. It’s an assortment of different topics, but they’re quite good.

Facebook group

You have your standard Facebook group, and you can interact with other students and Scott through it. He posts now and then, and there’s usually people talking every day, but it’s definitely not the largest group, at least at the time I checked it.

Refunds

There’s not any information on refund availability or whether or not you have to prove or meet any requirements if you want to request a refund. That’s always a red flag, but with the course’s content and value, I wouldn’t call it a scam –just a reason to be careful about buying this course.

Is It Worth It? Final Verdict

Overall, Simplified Shopify isn’t the largest course you can get for a low price, but it does have good value in it, and some beginners might even feel like they got their money’s worth.

Of course, you should be concerned about the sales figures and the revenue claims, like failing to account for his expenses or the claims not matching the real figures made. Another concern is that Scott’s success doesn’t mean you should replicate his approach.

There are courses like eCom Elites, which offer up to 6 times the amount of content your getting here for quite less. For example, eCom Elites offers over 200 videos filled with many approaches, tips, and value.

eCom courses today are everywhere, and even if some people don’t care about the business, they’re still seeing countless ads on their social media feeds. Today, we’ll be reviewing another one: eCom Freedom, by Nick Biedermann.

We’ll analyze the content, quality, and even the author, so you’ll have a clear idea about whether or not you really want this course.

So let’s dive into it.

What is it?

eCom Freedom is a course by Nick Biedermann, and he claims that you can follow his steps with the information offered in each of the videos. You can make up to $550,000 in 1 and a half years after finishing the course.

There are 9 modules on the course right now, and each comes with its own videos, some shorter and some longer. His library is updated with both produced videos and recorded live streams, and he keeps growing the course with time, which he also states during the course’s introduction.

The classes cover different topics like product research, pricing, website creation, and implementing ads to make everything more efficient. There are modules dedicated to Facebook Ads entirely as well.

Who’s the author?

However, there isn’t a lot of information available online. In fact, his overall internet presence is very reduced, so you won’t find out how he managed to succeed like that unless you take his course and actually learn his methods.

Additionally, as I mentioned previously, his social media presence is actually really small. It’s a problem because he has several modules dedicated solely to growing your social media influence, but it’s hard to trust someone’s knowledge when their online profiles don’t show their expertise.

His Instagram and YouTube accounts don’t have enough uploads (about 30 pictures on Instagram and a few videos on YouTube). He does have over 50,000 Instagram followers, but the lack of YouTube videos is worrying since his course is made up of videos in its entirety.

Target audience

This course aims to satisfy all audiences, from beginners to experts. There aren’t any requirements for you to sign up, and anyone can do it. You only need to be willing to learn how you can set up an online business using Shopify and take advantage of the dropshipping business model.

The second module is your standard tutorial for creating your shop. It starts off telling you about general and niche stores for you to choose before telling you how to actually create your store. There’s the usual steps for adding pages and your products, getting your own logos, what Shopify apps you want, and the finishing touches. The actual video about creating your store is a recorded stream nearing 20 minutes.

Researching products

This part is all about looking for products. You learn about 4 tools you can use, and Nick compares low and high ticket products before moving on the most intriguing section of this module.

Nick talks about a secret strategy he uses for finding your winning product, and he shows you one that made him almost $300,000 in just 3 months. There aren’t a lot of sensational techniques, though; it’s mostly just choosing highly rated AliExpress sellers and Facebook in tandem.

Making up to $200 in profits daily without ads spending

In here, you get an explanation of the basics of the method and a single step before seeing a 7-minute live case to illustrate things.

Basics of Facebook Ads

This is your first exposure to Facebook Ads on the course. Nicks tells you the number of ads you want to run at first, plus the structure you want for them. You also learn the mistakes you should avoid when testing your products and how to break even if something goes awry.

Starting with Facebook Ads

While the previous module was just theory, this module starts giving you the practical side of the class. It starts off by setting the business manager account on the platform. He then goes into comparing the picture vs video ads, and an overview of the testing stage before you launch your campaign.

You also receive a view of what occurs 3 days after your launch, a case study of the following 2 days, and 2 scaling levels. The last lessons explain retargeting and lookalikes.

Scaling strategies

This module offers 4 videos, and they all focus on the creation and implementation of lookalike audiences and retargeting, the last 2 concepts explained in the previous module.

There’s also some content on manual bidding and generally scaling your store as your sales and customers base grows.

Case studies

The 8th module comes with just a couple of videos of different case studies. The first one is a demonstration of how you can get $2,950 returns with an investment of just $558 in a single day, and the second one comes with a higher investment (a bit over $14,000) for a much higher profit (a bit over $43,000).

Q&A

The last module simply provides answers to the most common questions regarding the business model. The answers include what to do when getting a lot of visitors but not generating sales or when Facebook Ads fail to run. Other inquiries answered include how much you should invest when starting, what to choose between Instagram influencers and Facebook Ads, and what you can do when getting returns and refunds.

More Info

The course started off quite weak, with just a few short videos for each module, and it didn’t even have half the modules it has right now. Nick has managed to change that by continuously adding more content, and it’s a proper course right now as it is.

While I applaud his willingness to improve his product, I’m still troubled by the lack of information available on both him and the classes. While finding his Instagram wasn’t the longest task, it’s mostly empty, and many of the photos look like they were taken in a single day.

The same goes for his YouTube Channel and this course. You won’t find any information online about the course itself other than a few reviews and the Teachables’ text that’s copy-pasted on other websites.

The secretiveness of it all makes me doubt whether he’s making real money from his businesses or if it’s just another strategy like the ones most online gurus use for selling their courses, which is their real business.

You may think his course isn’t expensive enough to make him a millionaire, but selling a single course each day, then he’s still making a bit over $3,300 every month, and if he sells his mentorship packages for $236, then it’s a significant boost and quite a living for someone who’s just 21.

Final Verdict

Now, eCom Freedom definitely isn’t a scam. It’s a relatively cheap course that will give you a good introduction to dropshipping, and you can certainly start your business with the knowledge given here.

However, this course really has nothing to set it apart from all the other courses online. In fact, the lack of proof backing Nick’s success makes me believe he just studied the contents online and paraphrased them into a course, perhaps even with content from similar courses.

That doesn’t mean that there aren’t helpful videos here, and especially those with zero clue on what eCommerce is and how they can start will learn a lot from it. My problem is with how gurus inflate their real success just to sell more memberships.

The basic price sans mentorship is good, I must admit. You can start anytime you want, and you have lifelong access to the content and its future updates, which increase the value you’re getting without spending more. In fact, its product-price ratio is amongst the best I’ve found online.

The content is fine, and it’s easy to watch. The only problem is the lack of backing behind its claims.

Best Alternative

I’d recommend you save up a bit more for eCom Elites, by Frankiln Hatchett. You can get it for $197 or $297 depending on the plan you want, so it’s a bit more expensive, but the extra cost is definitely worth it.

Franklin is one of the pioneers behind the popularization of dropshipping thanks to his success, and his course adapts perfectly to both beginners and advanced dropshippers who want to increase their incomes.

Not everyone is made for this business, but you can take a stroll through Franklin’s YouTube and see the comments from his students.

eCom Hunter Drop Shipping Master Review (Hunter Cesare Course)

eCommerce courses are the rage right now. With every month bringing at least a couple new courses, but they all mostly offer the same recycled content.

Today, we’ll find out whether Hunter Cesare’s eCom Hunter Drop Shipping Master is just another one from the same pile or not.

Let’s dive into the content, the author, and my own experience with it to see if it’s worth your money.

Who’s the author?

He owns a YouTube channel that’s been growing quite modestly but steadily since he started providing content (and more significantly since he released the course). His videos are your standard eCommerce YouTube content: tips and methods for running your online business.

They also focus mostly on using Facebook Ads and the classic “6 figure” systems for Shopify. However, his activity has dwindled, and he doesn’t add new content as often.

He claims to have quit college after figuring out that he could earn more money through the internet than by getting a career. He’s just 21 years old, but he seems to live a very busy life managing his stores and tutoring on his course.

Besides his YouTube channel and an Upwork profile, there isn’t a lot of information on him, however.

What is eCom Hunter Drop Shipping Master

It’s a course by Hunter Cesare, who’s a young entrepreneur with a YouTube channel, and he also says to be an expert in online market. His course is available on Teachables, a platform for creating and selling online courses, viewable on virtually all devices.

The course is an introduction to online marketing, specifically for an eCommerce, and it’s mostly focused on doing so through Facebook. Besides that, it also offers a bit of content on email marketing and your standard Shopify store creation, although the content isn’t really extensive.

Hunter says he created the program because there weren’t any guides like it when he started his eCommerce venture. However, you and I know that that’s definitely not the truth today.

The course has a few tips that could help beginners, and it’s divided into 11 different modules that go from getting started to the strategies that can help you reach your goals, with examples from his stores.

Each module has various videos, and while some are a bit longer, the majority is brief. He also recommends different tools that can help you create your business and offers an explanation of the theories from his success.

Reviewing eCom Hunter Drop Shipping Master

There are 11 modules with Hunter’s course. They cover everything from starting your business to working on your marketing and scaling it. However, it’s mostly focused on Facebook Ads, so it feels more like a Facebook Ads tutorial with a bit of other content mixed into it.

Module 1

The first module is the classic video on how to start with Shopify: creating your account, getting used to the interface, and setting up different features like payments and shipping.

Module 2

The next module has a few videos on the best products you can start with, how to do your research, labeling each item, and how to write descriptions that will attract your customers.

There’s also a lesson how you can create a logo for your business. Hunter recommends you use AliExpress, for he says it’s the best place for you to find cheap products to start out.

Module 3

The 3rd module is a simple walkthrough guiding you through store design. It’ll tell you how you should create your contact form, keeping an eye on your emails list, and ensuring that your customers can trust your business so that they can feel more committed to you.

Module 4

The next module focuses on how to advertise your products on Facebook’s Ads platform. There’s a list with downloadables you can use for inspiration and reference. There are also some basic guidelines that will help you stay out of trouble.

The videos cover your basic content: advertising, evaluating audiences, retargeting, and manual bidding and conversion ads. You also get to see Hunter’s account as an example.

Module 5

This module is the first approach to marketing on Facebook. It explains you how you can create an ad with just $5 and promote it.

Module 6

The 6th module the goes into how you can optimize your ad promotion strategy to get a larger audience. It does so with just 2 videos.

Module 7

This module then goes into why it’s recommended to use manual bidding in some scenarios as opposed to automatic bidding. It’s just one video, though, so don’t expect much depth.

Module 8

This is another single-video module, and this time, it’ll give you a strategy (purely theoretical) for you to scale your ad from a daily $25 all the way to $1,000. He explains the steps and the (again, theoretical) result.

Module 9

The 9th module works as an introduction to email marketing. While the strategy is a lot more complicated that what this makes it seem, it’s still a good foundation for you to expand later on.

Module 10

Here, you get 2 videos explaining how you can fulfill orders. You can do so manually, or you can hire a virtual assistant to do that for you.

Module 11

The last module is an exemplification of all the concepts and lessons taught in this course. They’re demonstrated via Hunter’s own ads campaigns and the results generated from them.

eCom Hunter Drop Shipping Master Thoughts

I felt slightly annoyed at how basic this course was. It’s just a basic guide for people who never worked with Shopify or Facebook Ads. While it does deliver the content quickly and without rambling, it overdoes it and often misses very important concepts like email marketing.

Despite paying for what’s supposed to be a full course, you’re still forced to do your own research on most of the processes and tools mentioned in the modules.

I also didn’t like how he teaches you a strategy that’s never been used before. It’s just theory, and there’s nothing proving it’ll go the way it’s supposed to.

He also recommends using the free features of many tools for designing your store. It would’ve been better just to recommend students to subscribe to them, or get a full-featured theme like eCom Turbo.

Again, it feels like a basic Facebook Ads course with bits of eCommerce and dropshipping thrown in for the sake of it.

Target audience

This is an intro to eCommerce from a young man’s perspective. There’s not enough depth, and it definitely fails to convey how much knowledge Hunter really has about the concept of online marketing. It’s just an overview of the basics.

Therefore, it’s a course for beginners: those with no ide about online marketing and need a digestible first exposition to the concept. It focuses on marketing through Facebook Ads, which are intuitive to use.

On the other hand, if you already know something about the business model and how to create a store, this definitely isn’t a course for you.

He does provide a few interesting approaches, but they’re theoretical and lack real results to prove them. People interested in making a bit of money with little effort might also enjoy the course.

Most students come from Hunter’s YouTube channel, and he uses it to provide additional tips and hints. In fact, this course is just an extension of his content on YouTube, but it’s still cheaper than most courses available.

You definitely won’t get more value than what you paid for, but some beginners might feel their investment was met.

Final Verdict

While this course definitely isn’t a scam, it’s just a bad product. Sure, it’s cheaper than most courses available today, but you’re still paying for basic content that you can find for free online from YouTube or searching on Google.

I also hated how it charges almost 50% more if you want to pay in two parts.

The course even skips too much content that isn’t Facebook Ads, and even when it focuses on a single marketing approach, it doesn’t provide enough content or depth. You’re also out of luck if you wanted free traffic and marketing from SEO or email marketing, as the latter’s module is just an explanation of why it’s important.

Best Alternative

Another reason why I can’t recommend it is that it costs the same as the best eCommerce course available today: eCom Elites.

You can pay for eCom Elites with the same money: the standard plan costs $197, the same as Hunter’s course, and the premium package is $297, so you can still pay it from what the same course from Hunter would have charged you for two separate payments.

Besides, you get almost 200 different videos covering everything. You also learn many other marketing channels like Google, Instagram, and even Snapchat and chat bots.
