Wait wait wait wait. Seeing your post about which ygoDL characters are AI got me thinking. Who, how, and why was the Duel Links created (in universe explanation)?

NOT EVEN KIDDING. Who created Duel Links? The actual canon in-universe explanation for the game is that it's specifically rooted in the manga version of the DM universe; it's a virtual world to play Duel Monsters in, produced by KaibaCorp, crafted and forged in the fire by Seto "I Have Issues Problems" Kaiba himself!!! There's actually a whole little DSOD prequel manga story called Transcend Game, which iirc goes into Kaiba's development of the project pretty heavily! (I haven't had a chance to read it yet myself so DMheads correct me if anything's off)

Why's he doing this? Well. A.) you know Kaiba's always on his little ego projects trying to pursue the Next Evolution of Dueling, B.) He can't let go of his rivalry with Atem and will raise him from the dead in digital form if he has to (and he has), and C.), ah. erm. <:)

How's he doing it? MONEY. PRESUMABLY. Same way he's made any of his other virtual world KaibaCorp madness products. How's he getting a hold of virtual copies of people's memories, enough to make a realistic AI clone of them thats unaware of its own nature? How's Duel Links doing this for characters from dimensions Kaiba's never even stepped foot in, that KAIBACORP doesn't even exist in? We..... don't know yet <:) That's part of the psychologically terrifying fun!

tl;dr kaiba made duel links, he wanted to make an AI copy of atem because he can't process his grief like a normal person, he's raised the dead digitally and got a bit of a god complex about it, and now the whole ego project has spiraled out of control and grown into a bit of an entity all its own, leaving denizens from the spinoff dimensions to try and figure out What the Hell's Going On. Duel Links!

Okay so this is a part 2 to @echoflare841's question because I quickly realized that this is gonna be one helluva mega post if I slapped it all into one post. You might wanna sit down for this one, and uh, if you wish to maintain your innocence and not develop a whole new infuriation towards Scholastic for being so damn slow with translations, then uh, this is your chance to leave and keep Pandora's box unopened, I'll see you when my brainrot allows me to actually do something ^^. Here's a little guy to take with you on your travels.

Scholastic currently has five of the Thea Stilton series translated to English for us to consume, and that's 36 books in the main series, 19 books (on paper) in the Mouseford series, 9 special editions, the Treasure Seekers trilogy, and four Classic Tales. (The graphic novels were released by Papercutz, a company independent of Scholastic.) Now, if we're gonna tally up EdiPiemme's arsenal of Thea Stilton books (and I do mean arsenal), one thing you're gonna have to remember is that Thea Stilton itself is a franchise, not a series. Yes, the Thea Sisters are the spotlight in most of these, but there are some series that fall under the Thea Stilton franchise that are rather different and simply are an extension of the Geronimo Stilton Literary Universe.

Anyway so with that, this is what EdiPiemme has in Thea Stilton books, as of 2023:

59 books in the main series (Avventura)

61 books in the Mouseford series (Vita al College)

12 special edition books, plus the Treasure Seekers trilogy

12 Classic Tales or Libri del Cuore (they did Jane Eyre ya'll as a ninth grade Jane Eyre fan I am surprised)

11 Heart Detective books (Detective del Cuore, basically the girls open up a hobbyist detective agency dedicated to the romantic, the infatuated, and the people who are too shy to confess to their crushes. They play part-detective, part-matchmaker in helping two people who have crushes on each other get together. I think. The detective agency tho I'm very certain on, it's the cutest thing they've done so far)

5 Secret Diaries, just some extra content in the form of a diary all five girls share. Stuff about their lives you don't get to see in adventures that much, and it's cute :D

5 Secrets of the Thea Sisters -- i-it's just five kids' activity books but Thea Sister-themed and also some lore

3 books in Sirene, which is a fantasy thing where the Thea Sisters find a magic link in Whale Island that leads to a mermaid kingdom :D if you felt clickbaited by the special editions because they don't actually have the girls become fairies or something, then Sirene actually has them turn into mermaids for their time in the Cobalt Kingdom :D

23 books in Incanto-- it's a KoF spinoff that follows a group of KoF princesses and princes trying to save it from uh big baddies :D

3 books in Three Girls in the Court of King Arthur, once again another spinoff that circles around three lady knights in King Arthur's court hoping to save the world from Morgana and her mysterious Silent Knight

3 Adventures Through Time, yes the girls get to travel back in time, but it's more magic than science and there's an emphasis on some historical girlbosses

6 Stars Academy books

2 books in The Roses and the Spades, which is a sequel to TGitCoKA

1 SuperSisters book, which is basically a superhero book for the Thea Sisters so they can kick ass and stop having villains roll nat20s in intimidation--

2 Cases in Progress, an ongoing series where the girls are investigating some funky cases detected by an algorithm Paulina's invented that searches the internet space for funky anomalies and weird shnit to investigate

1 book in Spectralia, where three hooman girls get Jumanji-ed into a board game and they gotta Jumanji their way outa there, I only learned about this just now while doing research and it's an interesting premise :3c

And I think that's it? There's one choose-your-adventure type thing where you get to investigate with the girls on a case relating to a crown, but that's about it I think. I dunno, EdiPiemme and the Thea Sisters' blog's catalogues have been a mess since they updated the visuals on both, so I unfortunately can't say for sure if I got all of them or if I missed one because my original sources missed them, but eh. Anyway uh, hope you have fun with this new knowledge :'D

How is Axel and Jim like in your college au?

AXEL AND JIM! Super chill dudes. Honestly they're like. the most put together guys here dghhjdg they're in grad school they have their shit together. AND they're engaged!!

Axel is working on an advanced history degree, with a research emphasis on military history especially. Has a casual interest in pyrotechnics and GMing complex combat-heavy ttrpgs. Jim's working on a geology phd (paleontology of course)--he's a transfer student from Australia and Shirley the crocodile is still here and she's still a crocodile. She's his ESA <3 He spends a lot of time hanging out with some other Geology undergrads (Hassleberry and Jesse.) Jesse actually used to live with Jim and Axel in a rental house until he felt a little too much like a third wheel and had to move out--they're all still friends though!

they're rare guests at Jaden's esteemed Brawl Wednesday because they're frequently busy with classwork, but when they do show up Axel mains the meanest Mario you've ever done seen, and Jim mains a positively ferocious Bowser. 🔥

Ok so if Vector is supposed to represent Beelzebub, then what are the other demons that you associate the Barian Emperors with?

ALRIGHT HERE'S WHERE THINGS GET TRICKY since with the other Emperors it's not nearly as clear what Prince of Hell theyre meant to represent as it is with Vector "Alien Beelzebub" Vector Zexal is. And it doesn't help that there isn't even a concrete list of the Seven Princes of Hell either, multiple authors have assembles their own version of the seven over the centuries! So we got a lot of different demons potentially on the field, and a little bit of It Could Be That Deep analysis has gotta be at the ready when considering the rest of Don Thousand's Finest. It's honestly a bit easier to try and maybe equate the remaining Emperors to one of the Seven Deadly Sins and try to work backwards to figure out their hypothetical demonology match from there (since I do very much think it's pretty clear the Barians are meant to parallel the sins on some level too because the Bible simply does not stop with Yugioh Zexal.)

The only other Emperor I feel fairly confident with is Nasch being tied to Leviathan, a pretty consistent member of the demonology 'royal' hierarchy and also, yknow, a fuckin water-associated sea monster! (and the first number we even see in the show is Shark's Leviathan Dragon, after all.) Leviathan's dead sin is Envy, which is maybe not the Most Shark-like, but still interesting to think about with him.

So that's Beelzebub for Vector and Leviathan for Shark. As for the others, I will posit some guesses:

Mizar: Most likely Lucifer for him... between his almost angelic type looks + having an association with dragons (as does Lucifer in the Bible) + Lucifer being the demon typically associated with pride it seems like it parallels him the best.

Girag: MAAAYBE MAMMON?? Demon who is kind of Just Some Guy but also associated with greed...since in his past life we know Girag would share the spoils of his conquests with the poor there could be some sort of wealth implied connection in there. Hmm...

Alito: Thinking maybe Satan [Prince of Wrath] for him.... his Barian form is even classic devil red which feels like a pretty deliberate choice.

Dumon and Marin/Merag: ok these two I have no real idea on. Marin could maybe be tied to Belphegor, who is sometimes described as taking on the appearance of a young woman??!? But idk. Dumon honestly almost has more in common with Furcas from the Lesser Key of Solomon than some of the more prominent demons. Hmm...

not really!

I see where this meme is coming from, but there's a couple things that don't really fit. A.) Aporia isn't really a sacrificial character to begin with (barring niche circumstances like his Tag Force route,) especially not to an implied Christlike degree. He is a character that is literally the embodiment of despair and suffering, but he isnt really suffering to SAVE someone else (except maybe Z-one, but his dynamic with Z-one isn't 'savior sacrificing themselves for the one devoted to them.'--Aporia is 100% the one who's the devotee here) Really Aporia seems to suffer largely because he either does it to himself or he's just, Extraordinarily Unlucky.

anyway, more importantly, B.) this meme implies illustrating a religious undertone present with the character in question is an act of "fanon" which is..................just straight up not true in this case !! Aporia is Very deliberately surrounded by religious motifs In The Text; when I'm drawing and talking about him with regards to religious symbolism I'm pulling from how he's presented in the show itself, I'm not just yanking things out of nowhere for the sake of Cool Religious Aesthetic™ lol. He isn't a sacrificial savior figure, Z-one is presented as a God and Aporia is one of his angels, right down to having a halo/predominately white color scheme/etc. Again APORIA'S the devoted one here! that aint fanon that's just canon right there on screen babeyy!!

Impression now: GOD. REAL ONES UNLIMITED i love Axel... gx nichefav for certain. Savior of Season 3. He really just went through absolute terrifying trauma the entire time he was on screen and WELL. HOPING HE GETS A MOMENT TO FUCKING REST

After that point I was like IM WORRIED ABOUT THIS GUY. I CARE ABOUT HIM and then he has one of the rawest duels in the whole show so just double bangbang of being endeared to him
