The Eagle is literally a mixture of a very arrogant Russian peasant, a very cunning and greedy American businessman, and the Greek/Roman god Dionysus. Eagle was born into a very poor family, so he wanted to move up the career ladder. Because of his arrogant and humorous nature, he was not taken seriously by everyone, even though he worked very hard and sold milk (hence why he was given the nickname Milk Eagle). Of course, the Eagle took advantage of the fact that he was considered a fool. He started lending money to other dragons. Of course, others thought that he was stupid and did not want to repay the debt, so Eagle constantly, specifically went to the courts. As a result, the debtors gave Eagle not 3,000 gold, but 100,000 gold, or became his workers in order to work off the debt and not go to jail. That's how he grew up. From selling milk he came to selling alcohol, and especially wine. Now a huge number of dragons are working for this once poor man, and Eagle himself is profiting from the dragon’s vices (alcoholism). Although he drinks alcohol himself.
SandWings often swallow their prey whole like a snake
RainWings, when telling stories, subconsciously change their scales to vaguely match those of the dragons in the story. They find it hard to follow stories told by non-RainWings because they rely somewhat on visual cues. Ex: Kinkajou telling Moon about something Winter said and her scales turning white and blue without her thinking about it.
Dragon wing gestures are something not enough ppl talk about but I love thinking about wing movement as it relates to body language. Wings flared to try to intimidate or to convey excitement, wings swept outward and horizontally to gesture to their surroundings, wings used to point at things, to wave hello or goodbye, RainWing wings outstretched and turned red in a gesture not unlike a middle finger, wings pulled back in shock, wings poised to launch into the air in a fight or flight response when startled, etc etc just WING RELATED BODY LANGUAGE/GESTURES!
SkyWings also 100% have at LEAST 30 rude gestures you can do with ur wings
LeafWings have prehensile tails like RainWings
RainWings as well as IceWings have an incredible ability to right themselves in the air when knocked off balance, kinda like cats lol
SandWings would too bc sandstorms
SandWings are actually really good swimmers
MudWings don't swim but walk along the bottom of the lake/river like a hippo
When RainWings trip on frog poison, their scales turn neon colors
SkyWings have extremely well developed vision and can see insane detail from very far away, like an eagle.
RainWings have courtship dances.
Typically, male RainWings and SkyWings have brighter colors and male SkyWings are more commonly red.
Similarly, blue SeaWings are more commonly male.
HiveWings can be hot pink. (Inspiration from that one kind of grasshopper)
Procreation between NightWings and SeaWings sometimes creates children with bioluminescent black lights.
RainWings can learn to speak Aquatic through scale color changes, though it only works with daylight because their scales are only color changing and not bioluminescent.
SeaWings can get high from pufferfish poison, like dolphins.
SeaWings get sick when they transfer from fresh water to salt water and vice versa, similar to altitude sickness.
SkyWings anatomically have the largest hearts of any tribe. (Ah, the irony)
If they eat too many shrimp or similar seafood, IceWings can turn pink. (It's not cute though, it's often a sign of malnourishment.)
RainWings, LeafWings and NightWings are the only tribes able to eat chocolate without getting sick.
Many NightWings are colorblind, but can see colors in visions of the future.
RainWings can mimick sounds and even voices with bonechilling accuracy.
I have a few headcanons for them, and a a bit of backstory and lore planned, too😊 Let's dive in:
• ❄IceWing!🍷Heir of Evil!🐉 Reader is the grandchild or great-grandchild to the wicked IceWing queen, specifically the one who put the tribe into multiple wars and skirmishes and tried to take over the dragon world. Reader isn't like her (they're not an irredeemable monster who hurts others for fun)
• Heir! Reader wears jewelry that is mostly silver or black, but loves any sort of colorful gemstones or charms...
• Heir! Reader only wears the pieces of jewelry that are necessary; they don't want to waste the tribe's treasure on frivolous items, and if the jewelry appeals to other tribes, then it might make Reader and the IceWings seem more appealing, like they're dragons, too...
• Heir! Reader is good with algebra, dragon biology, and creative writing...
• Heir! Reader is torn between what the two sides of their kingdom wants: to stay unscheming and try to foster peace, hoping other tribes will leave them alone and not hurt them further... or to amass enough power and treasure that they can wage a war against the other tribes, or at least the IceWing hybrids who some view as traitors...
• Heir! Reader's necklace they were told to never take off is enchanted, but they don't know that. The necklace hides something about them, which is why their vanished/dead parent gave it to them...
• Heir! Reader has had to stop a coup for their throne/title at age four (about 12 year old in WoF dragon years), which led to them earning the respect of the remaining advisors and generals of their late parent/late family, as well as the respect of the few nobles left and the different IceWing villages...
• Heir! Reader's hatching day is a mystery, as no one ever saw their egg, nor them, when they were first hatched, save for their deceased parent and a late ally of their's...
• Heir! Reader has an army of pet foxes, all of which are (diet) platonic yandere for them (they're all so cute and cuddly and fluffy-!)
• Heir! Reader, unlike most IceWings, enjoys trying cooked meats and exotic dishes from other tribes and kingdoms...
• Heir! Reader prefers to sleep with a fur blanket, not because they're cold (they're an IceWing), but because they like the soft fur and fuzzy texture...
• Heir! Reader is an aromantic-asexual...
• Heir! Reader enjoys traditonal IceWing foods such as fresh salmon with lemon juice, thinly-sliced caribou strips, puffin and moss salad, kalimari (squid), bear jerkey, ox ribs seasoned lightly with moss, seal meat marinated in ginger/lemon/honey, as well as ice cream, frozen berry slush, and lemon-flavored shaved ice...
• Heir! Reader likes traditional dishes from other kingdoms such as: MudWing's Diamond Delta Gumbo, SandWing's Cinnamon Milk and Roasted Lizard Kebabs, SkyWing's Charred+Barbecued Eagle Wings, SeaWing's Thousand Scales Thousand Fish Sushi, RainWing's Mango-Orange Juice, NightWing's Smoked Boarchops, HiveWing's Honey-roasted Shrimp, SilkWing's Loaded Baked and Sweet Potatoes, and LeafWing's Planter's Pie...
• Heir! Reader sometimes wears a small, spiked tailband on the end of their tail, nestled above where their spikes are...
• Heir! Reader enjoys sunrises, and writes new poems and hymns for their tribe to sing at their Gifts of the Ice Dragon Festival...
• Heir! Reader enjoys old literature, especially comedies...
(I will make another post about Heir! Reader facts, but dealing with IceWing culture)
Hi its the is it rwby or the dragons anon again I just realised the Ruby dragon design stuff you've posted are probably actually dragons from the dragon fandom and not in fact rwby Ruby as a dragon as there's a Ruby dragon and but also I'm pretty sure you've done rwby Ruby and others dragon designs and lmao brain melting I'm so daft this whole time I've just huh yea rwby dragons but some are probably in fact lmao actually Canon dragons from the series
Okay, I think I get what u mean, so lemme explain lol.
So the dragon fandom is the wings of fire book series, it's a kid's series about dragons doing human things. Essentially Warrior cats but dragons if you're familiar with that series. Each tribe (species) of dragon has a different naming scheme, like the ocean dragons (seawings) are named stuff like tsunami, coral, anenome, etc. A specific tribe of dragons, skywings, is named after a variety of things.
They are named after birds, fire, stuff to do with mountains, red/orange gemstones, and shades of red/orange in general if that makes sense. For example, there are characters named Scarlet, Carnelian, Eagle, Pyrite, Flame, etc. The character I was talking about is Queen Ruby, who kicked her evil mom's ass.
However, my friend Dallas (@dinodogs) has an AU based on this book series, and Ruby Rose happens to be the same species as the canon, Queen Ruby. Though Ruby Rose is a hybrid of two different species, she passes more as a skywing.
So anything reblogged from them mentioning Ruby is indeed Ruby Rose. It happens a lot as rwby and WoF both have color naming schemes, for example, WoF has characters named Winter and Willow too.
