None of my summer course students came today, so I spent an hour understanding my thoughts about BBS and KP. It's not the best written thing I can produce, but I want to share...
After watching a few Thai bl shows, I'm trying to understand why I got so caught on KinnPorsche and Bad Buddy .
I think it's in the details.
Both shows have these pairs of extremely strong actors. They are SO in their characters when they act, it's actually beautiful to watch. They are not awckword with each other and both directors and actors aren't afraid to show real and jenuine affection. The love scenes and kissing scenes aren't just for the sake of showing two boys kissing or making out. They are a true expression of emotions. I will explain.
KinnPorsche
1. Non-verbal communication -
First, the bathroom scene which has been talked about from every possible angle... There is one tiny, blink and you miss it moment, when Porsche looks at Kinn, then down as if asking him "are we doing this?", and Kinn gives him a nod and goes straight for his pants. When I noticed that I was screaming inside! This is so realistic and feels so unscripted. They are just in it and playing off each other. They ARE Kinn and Porsche in that moment.
Second, the pool scene - again a tiny detail, when Porsche moves to the other side of the pool and reaches for Kinn. He holds him and guides him, signalling to him with touch and eye contact. This feels so natural and I am crazy for it.
I'm sure there are more moments like these, but this what comes to mind rn.
2. Porsche's hugs - when he kisses Kinn before he leaves him in ep.6. It feels so desperate. Like he wants to absorb Kinn or be absorbed into Kinn.
Then there are the hugs when they finish after the bathroom scene and the pool scene. Again. ALL THE EMOTIONS.
Thinking about it, after watching Apo talk about the way he sees KP's relationship and his views about relationships and sex in general, it all falls into place. During the Drama Talk panel he said that relationships (I'm paraphrasing here, so go with me) are about being and doing for the person you love. Porsche doesn't care about the act itself and the sex is not about having sex, it's about being what your partner needs. In another video they talk about the bathroom scene and he says that they call it "helping each other", which is such a nice way to think about it. It's all about loving your partner and having someone with you who loves you back.
Bad Buddy
1. The bedroom scene after the rugby match - this feels so real to me. They are so comfortable with each other. I'm still trying to figure this one out. It's all in the details again. The way that Pran's hand just lays on Pat's hip when Pat pinns him to the bed. Pran tells him to go away, but he doesn't really want him to go away. He just gives him this little loving kiss while placing his other hand on Pat's back. This is so realistic. It doesn't feel like I'm watching an engeneered show about teenagers awkwardly playing games. This is tiny moments of real life and it's fucking beautiful!
2. Discussions about sex - Pat and Pran do not have sex until they are on their "honeymoon". I think it's meant to neutralize the top/bottom discussion, which Aof actively chose to leave out of the show. They take their time.
Korn is obsessed with knowing wheather they've had sex and they are very confident telling him "not yet" and actually saying "it's non of your business". When they do get to it, they are sure. They love each other and they are each other's safe space. Which is beautiful.
This is setting up the healthy and beautiful sexual part of their relationship, which we get to witness in the final episode.
After all this, I think the main reason I am in love with these shows is the fact that they take the "queer sex" out of of the equation. It's not to say that there is non of it, but it's different. They are treating it as a relationship between two people who love each other, actually saying that being LGBTQ+ is not about what kind of sex you have. It is however, about love.
Thank you for reading what goes on inside my brain. I hope you get what I'm trying to say.

Thoughts on episode 11:
********SPOILERS********
*
*
*
1. Vegas/Pete: I thought they did a really good job with the pace development - I felt the passage of time in the episode... it feels like it takes place over a few weeks which also means that the development in their storyline/romance arc and the growing emotional connection between the two felt more natural and less forced.
2. Belts do NOT leave those kinds of marks!!! I've used belts on others AND been the recipient, so this totally stuck out in my brain and drove me crazy!
3. I like that they gave a nod to Kinn forgetting Pete in the aftermath of the craziness of last episode but also that he was suspicious of the time off request and followed up with Grandma... and I love that Vegas anticipated that and gave a very plausible reason why no one is looking for Pete (yet) and we can let KinnPorsche enjoy their honeymoon period without getting all pissed off at Kinn.
3. The trend continues... as KinnPorsche reaches new heights poor Kimchay plummets... poor Chay, ugh, that poor boy. Like, I get where Kim is coming from, kind of, but also he is going to need to beg for forgiveness later because he is being a colossal ass!
4. BUT, I'M LIVING for tankhun straight up adopting Chay and announcing that he will be raising him from now on. YES! GIVE ME MORE!
5. Oh my God. Of fucking course the first time Kinn says he loves Porshe would be to his FAMILY so Porsche gets his first verbal confirmation that Kinn loves him from Daddy Korn during a fucking work meeting of all things!!!
6. Our boy makes up for it though by announcing it multiple times throughout the episode. As he should. That man is proud as fuck that Porsche is his BF now and apparently has every intention of making sure everyone knows it (even if he does struggle with his demons here and there-we can see hes fighting them and thats what counts).
7. The bodyguards though, I mean, come on... Pure fucking gold.
Next week can NOT come fast enough!
I'm secretly hoping the Vegas (under Pete's influence) turns against his Dad... probably a pipe dream, but one can hope!

Hello :) Kinnporche-anon again !
So I just finished episode 9 and i have so mnay emotions :((((
Well first off, I loved seeing them learning how to be a couple together, they were so adorable omg, with their first dates, and Porsche being so nervous about the novelty of it all and Kinn learning to open again aaawww...And they did an underwater kiss??? The Evak vibes of it all, all gay couples should have an underwater kiss, let's make it a rule ^^ But yeah I really love how their relationship has so much range. They can go from being the cutest goofy couple to be so beautifully tragic, and through that having incredible chemistry! Also I remain on my Porsche-is-meant-to-be-a-mafia-lord agenda, like the way he immediately sees he is at advantage and plays on it during a conversation, even when the person in front of him tries to intimidate him, for exemple when Kinn is jealous in episode 7? And how he manages to command so easily and with so much confidence Kinn, aka the Big Mafia Boss so used to being the one in charge? Sure, the fact that Kinn is super whipped kind of play into that, but I'm pretty sure Porsche could make anyone whipped for him if he wanted to so ^^ (altho i guess the fact that he can't lie to save his life could be disavantage but we'll see if he gets better)
So yeah I loved see their honeymoon phase and I knew it would not last so of course Kinn's dumb ex had to come back >:( He just framed Porsche who, tbf, made it very easy but well I can't blame him poor sweety is just in his first relationship he does not know how to handle jealousy I get that, and again very mafia-vibes to immediately jump on the spying-the-ennemi tactic ;) But i'm 100 pourcent (99 pourcent?) sure that Kinn does not actually believe Porsche betrayed him but had to act like that to save his face as the Big Leader, like he did after Porsche got drugged and Kinn punished him? Also very curious about what Vegas's attentions really are, bc he SEEMS to be sincere with his feelings for Porsche but also is very creepy and defintely sus...Kind of like Kim with Porschay altho in this situation, the fact that he truly is charmed by him is made more evident, and their first kiss was so cute but if he hurt baby chay I swear X((((
Anyway that was my rant, hope you had a good day :)
YAYYYYY KP ANONNNNNNNNNN
Oh god yes. The end of ep 9. Porsche's heartbroken 'ai Kinn' repeated over and over. It ruined my life but I also loved it so much because GIVE ME ANGST. Also I was exactly like you in terms of speculating that Kinn was just putting on a show. And I'm guessing by now you know we were correct in that assesment. Still, dumbass screwed up on not telling Porsche from the beginning. Sigh.
Them learning to be a couple and us getting to SEE them be a couple is the absolute best thing. I loved so much that the show allowed them that time. We got to actually see them as giddy boyfriends. Also yes, the gays own the underwater kiss. I don't make the rules. Thems facts.
Your 'Porsche-is-meant-to-be-a-mafia-lord agenda' makes me so happy by the way. I love your assessment and I can't wait for you to see the rest of the season and see how that plays out. Porsche is no wilting flower for damn sure. But I love the back and forth with he and Kinn. Because the love between them makes them both so damn vulnerable and neither of them are used to that. So allowing one another to see that vulnerability and trusting in one another enough to be all in when it comes to their relationship is honestly pretty beautiful. And it's very well demonstrated in scenes like the end of ep 7 (my all time fave scene btw - it just doesn't get better than that mix of love/lust/angst). And p.s. I love seeing big mafia Kinn, as you say, be so totally soft for Porsche. "Whipped" doesn't even cover it lol.
So I will be interested to hear what you think of Tawan (aside from the obvious hate because honestly I wanted to smack the shit out of him from the second he appeared on screen) and that arc. It is one place in the show where I think a lot of potential was lost due to the introduction of other storylines and more rushed pacing. But there's some satisfying stuff for sure (badass Kim!!!!). And oh god... baby Chay. Yes. Must PROTECT!
As always your rant makes my life so thank you so very much!
