Personality: Kosmo is best described as stubborn, quick-witted, and audacious. They are not afraid to disagree with pretty much anything or anyone, they like to debate and question decisions regardless of their nature. In a sense, they are rebellious by nature, often wanting to take bold risks and shift from idea to idea. Kosmo can often be seen as a stubborn and thick-headed person focused on their interests than for others unless, however, they will give their friendship to support those they trust, which includes the Brass Knuckle pirates who have helped calm Kosmo’s more spontaneous nature.

Sightseeing - Kosmo likes to travel and prefers to try to see the sights as much as they can everywhere they go before moving on to the next destination, while they hate staying in one place for long they like to see what it has to offer.

Metalworking/Crafting - Initially it was a skill they picked up for survival but it became a hobby that they enjoy and part of their life.

Stargazing and Star Mapping - It was a common hobby between them and their mother.

Arguing/Debating - Kosmo does not like resorting to physical fighting but LOVES to argue and debate with others regardless of being an enemy or ally, not as a way to really on up others but mostly to challenge the decisions made. Kosmo’s love for debates is much more playful to their crew mates compared to their enemies who Kosmo verbally undermines.

Marine Life - Kosmo has a deep love and respect for Marine life, often cataloging and writing down about the various species they see. Often they use this self made research to upgrade the ship, Star-Gazer

Dislikes:

Termites - Kosmo has no real harsh feelings towards any animal besides Termites which are the bane of their existence due to their job as a shipwright that have caused issues for them in the past with their projects and work.

Storms - They have a strong dislike and fear of lightning storms specifically after lightning nearly struck them once while traveling during a bad storm and it’s been a fear of theirs ever since, often they hide in their room during bad storms.

Intense heat - It dries out their skin fast and Kosmo can only handle it in their hybrid/animal form, which they can’t fully do to the size of their forms, so they just suffer from the inconvenience

History:

Kosmo was initially born in Fishman Island to a Fishman father and an Ex-Marine Human mother, however by the time they were 6 months old, their human mother left Fishman Island to prevent Marines and bounty hunters from finding them, so they lived a nomadic lifestyle as Kosmo’s mother, Sasera, never wanted to stay in one place at a time due to her work nor the bounty on her head for betraying the Marines.

Kosmo for most of their life lived in the South Blue, as their home sea, sharing their mother’s wonderlust and spontaneous nature. However, the lifestyle of constantly traveling by boat from trouble and threats only made Sasera more paranoid and harsh about their journeys to different islands, never staying for more than a day compared to staying for months on end. It came to a head when Kosmo was 8 years old and their mother in a fit of intense paranoia and need to escape the life of being chased by the Marines constantly without being able to truly be in peace, leaves Kosmo behind on an random island as Sesera leaves on her boat, eventually joining the Revolutionary army while Kosmo was left behind on the strange and unpredictable island where they did not know anyone.

For the first couple years Kosmo lived on their own, hunting and fishing for themselves despite the struggle to doing it alone, they were an outsider on the island and people were not sure about approaching Kosmo, it did not help that Kosmo would constantly try to argue with them over everything when trying to get money in exchange for their wares from hunting and fishing from brackets made from warped metal and bones to makeshift tools from different materials. Kosmo was eventually taken in by a middle aged Shipwright named Yusu who worked at the docks on ships that came from other islands to the island to be repaired, where Yusu taught Kosmo the inner workings of metal working, carpentry, and construction. Yusu acted as a parental figure for Kosmo and helped refine their abilities as a metal worker and made them into a worthy Shipwright, even going as far as letting Kosmo teach him how to fish and explore the reefs near the island.

The trouble started when Kosmo was thirteen years old when a small but strong Marine force made their newest base on the island, where they now had access to some of the best Shipwrights in all of the seas, able to control what ships could be docked to be repaired. Kosmo for the most part did that work on the Marine ships that frequently docked at the island, leaving it Yusu and avoiding any marines that wandered the streets, having grown up with their mother’s stories of the Marines and how they treated civilians, and criminals even worse.

Kosmo, due to Yusu’s worsening health, takes up more work on the Marine ships despite their hatred towards them. While antagonistic towards most of the Marines, Kosmo does grow a complicated sort of friendship with Frost, a Marine commander at the time that helped oversee Kosmo working on the various ships. Kosmo was caught off by Frost’s friendly nature, but has grown to see Frost as an acquaintance for the most part, even letting Frost know their name, but is still aggressive towards other Marines who try to dictate them, which has led to many fights between Kosmo and lower level marines.

It’s when Kosmo is Fifteen is when they discover some of the Marines are transporting Devil Fruits on their ships as well, having seen Marines hide the fruits in Cargo and shipping off to who knows where. Kosmo, on a spontaneous decision, broke into the ship using their free access to it as the Shipwright while it was docked and took one for themselves, knowing the rumors of all powerful devil fruits and wanted to have one for themselves so they could drive the Marines away. However, despite eating the fruit, they found their power to be something they could not control and found themselves weak while in water despite their Fishman biology. It took Yusu and other Shipwrights to fish them out of the water when Kosmo nearly passed out as they tried to leave the ship.

For a while , they kept the power they gained from the fruit a secret as Kosmo themselves did not know the full grasp of it. Finding their ability to turn into a large snake hybrid is hard to do but also hard to hide. They never truly unlocked the full form up to that point, due to a fear of being found out and taken by the Marines, even if Frost was accepting of them as a friend despite Kosmo’s hostile nature.

As the Marine’s influence on the island got worse, it’s when Kosmo is close to turning 17 when they meet the Brass Knuckles pirates, who stopped at the island for repairs post being nearly sunk by a Marine ship. The people of the island kept telling them to go away, afraid of what the Marines would do if they found out pirates had docked on the island and refused to help. However, Kosmo took a chance and offered to help them in secret to repair their ship away from watchful eyes if they did a favor for Kosmo, of driving out the Marines off the island. Kosmo even said that they would help fight alongside them if they helped Kosmo drive the Marines who had taken advantage of the people’s fear.

Kosmo post battle after the Marines were driven off the island, they ask the Captain of the Brass Knuckles, Megan, to join the crew, wanting to see the world outside the island like when they were a child. In exchange they would become the Shipwright for the Brass Knuckles and help the crew complete their dreams while completing their own.
