Yesterday I went for a belated birthday lunch with @drowninginabactatank (they/them), Pabu the Red Panda (he/him) and @monsters-and-glitter-blog (she/they) at Kyoto Cafe~! The food was amazing - I had ginger lemonade, chicken katsu curry and a strawberry cake - but the best part was definitely the company~🥰

This is...actually one of the more helpful responses I’ve gotten. (Not that I don’t value and appreciate anyone who sticks around and keeps trying to reassure me, because I do.) But this is different. I often ask myself, as a joke “What would Kylo do?” and picturing him doing something hilariously destructive. But this works.

A weird headcanon

its always kin shit with me, but she's allergic to dogs but late onset about it. growing up there was always a dog or three in the von karma house and von karmas are, genetically, predisposed to love dogs. franziska was 100% fine around them for her entire young life and then she hit age, like, 17 and suddenly was violently allergic. she still refuses to accept this/do anything about it. miles will vacuum the whole house and babygate pess and everything if he knows fran is coming over and fran will walk right up to the babygate, unleash the beast, and shove her face directly into pess's tummy while miles breaks down crying in a corner.

When do you think they were at their happiest?

damn am i biased saying when his kids were born? maybe on his wedding day too. AA is a series where you so rarely get to see anyone outside of work but little pieces of manfred peak through in various canons where it quickly becomes clear that he really loves his family. he brags about his wife in aai2, there's a lot of anime & manga material of him fretting/doting on franziska. i think all his happiest moments are probably ones that have to do with milestones related to that.

But I did pick up Haunted: The Book of Australia's Ghosts by John Pinkney in an op-shop a while back and that's at the top of my eventual to-read pile for what it's worth 😅

📺 Last Series: My housemate and I started watching/rewatching Grimm recently and I forgot how much I love that show!! We're almost back up to the part where Rosalee first shows up and she's my favourite so I'm excited ^_^

🎥 Last Movie: Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny and it was delightfully ridiculous~ I used to know someone who had the movie poster on his wall and I always thought it looked cool so I'm glad I finally got to sit down and watch it (about ten years later 😅)

🍬🍰🍡🍮🍫 Sweet/Savoury/Spicy: All of them are good but I really do love my savoury things~

💻 Currently Working On: I really want to improve my makeup skills! I've also been playing a lot of Stardew Valley and working to make sure my farm looks nice ^_^

So I never got into Zelda games because of gatekeepy nonsense and negative acquaintance associations BUT your passion and hype makes me want to slowly try?!

I know nothing about the story other than what I've read on your blog, so far the only character that has made my brain go DING is Ghirahim. So tell me about Ghirahim, please?

it sucks that people soured it for you!!!! i hope you can learn to love it some day and i’m happy to help omg!!!

ok the spoiler free synopsis on ghirahim is that he’s the main villain of skyward sword, though he is very clear from the get go in establishing himself as someone who is working for a greater force. he introduces himself as a demon lord and u meet him basically as he is trying to find your best friend so he can straightup do ritual sacrifice on her to revive his master.

he’s got a really engaging personality that is hard to explain and for that reason i think people flanderize him a lot? he’s your typical queercoded villain in that he’s very dramatic and flambouyant, capes and sparkles, talks with his hands, monologues monologues monologues. Absolutely no personal space whatsoever, loves to get in Link's bubble while he does so. there’s this beautiful contradiction in ghirahim in that he’s an absolutely ruthless swordsman who seems to revel in bloodshed at a first glance--like he’ll tell link in detail every excruciating way he’s going to kill him--but when it comes down to the wire ghirahim views the actual act of using his full power on lower life forms unsportsmanlike and claims to go easy on link. no matter how frustrated he gets with link he can’t really move past this ‘well, that’s a human child. i’ll just scare him off it’d be rude to murder him with how much of an advantage i have.’ thing. which doesn’t work because link doesn’t run away from anything xD

it’s less so that ghirahim’s all bark and no bite he could absolutely pulverize link he just genuinely seems to be set in these morals despite claiming to be a character with no mercy. even though i’m not the biggest fan of him (kinnie reasons sfdgf) he is VERY fun to watch.

and then the spoilers:

ghirahim is what’s known in the zelda universe as a sword spirit. there’s only two of them at present but they are exactly as they sound: enchanted beings that dwell inside of powerful blades. they can do a number of things like teleport and speak telepathically to humans as well as read auras, track them, and detect emotion within them. ghirahim and link both have this ability to detect zeldas aura, and thus they’re often running into one another as they’re both chasing after her.

ghirahim in particular is the sword of Demise, the demon king and ultimate ancient evil that sets the entire legend of zelda as a whole into motion and persists, in spirit, to this day. probably the biggest twist of skyward sword is that since ghirahim takes a human form for the whole game, and you only know one other sword spirit, you never really guess that's what he is. It's only revealed at the very end that oh shit, you were only fighting the bad guy's sword this whole time.
