So I was just messin’ around with paths in Jurassic World Evolution and...

Listen, I know it’s weird, but it’s a map of the earth, just a very abstract one.

See?

(Red:Europe Blue:N.America Green:S.America Yellow:Africa Orange:Austrailia Purple:Asia)(Sorry for the MSPaint)

So, how about we turn this into an educational venture on the ecosystems of the world back then?(Completely disregarding time periods, Stegosaurus and Euoplocephalus shared similar environments, but not time period, being hundreds of millions of years apart)

Let’s begin with the smallest, Austrailia

Back then, it was similar to our Austrailia, just with more trees and jungle, and also being stuck to India and Antarctica.

The only Austrailian species in the game is:

Muttaburrasaurus

“Muttaburra lizard”

No fun fact here, just your standard herbivore.

Next up: Africa

Was similar to today, just stuck with Madagascar, Turkey and South America.

First: Madagascar

Only one animal from this game:

Majungasaurus

“Mahajanga lizard”

Pretty short for a Cretacious theropod, but it had a small horn on it’s head.

Next up: Desert

It’s an african desert, what do you want me to say?

Solo species again, so:

Carcharodontosaurus

“Shark-Toothed lizard”

As the name imples, it’s teeth were similar to that of a Charcarodon, or Great white Shark.

Now onto: Riverside

Rivers have water, and water is necessary to survive.

The Species here could be:

Suchomimus

“Crocodile mimic”

A piscivore dinosaur, it would mostly stand on the riverside and wait for fish to approach.

Spinosaurus

“Spine lizard”

Unlike in the Jurassic park franchise, this animals legs were about the size of it’s arms, making it look like a 4 meter tall sailed crocodile, wich is cool.

Kentrosaurus

“Sharp lizard”

About the size of of a cow, very pointy, so either it sees you coming, or you get hurt.

Ouranosaurus

“Uranus/ Brave lizard”

An average sized hadrosaur with a sail. I like it.

Nigersaurus

“Niger lizard”

Not very well portrayed, but i’ts about the size of a bull, and with a wide mouth to munch on that good grass.

Onto: Asia

Asia back then was pretty much the same, just separate from Europe and Africa, and no India stuck to it.

First: Desert

It’s jus a desert, but in Asia.

Gallimimus (Right)

“Chicken mimick”

Big ostrich dinosaur, flocked like birds, but on the ground.

Chunkingosaurus (Left)

“Chunkingo lizard”

It came from the Chunking region in Asia, okay? It’s also spiky and stuff.

Huayangosaurus

“Sichuan lizard”

Big, spikey dinosaur again, what was going on in asia for them to need this many spikes?

Next: Jungle

Jungle, you know, like a big forest.

Mamenchisaurus

“Horse gate river lizard” (Seriously)

It’s neck is half the length of it’s body.

Brachiosaurus

“Arm lizard”

I’ts name and subcategory come from the fact that it has long arms.

Velociraptor

“Fast hunter”

It’s only about the size of a turke IRL, but still a good hunter.

Dilophosaurus

“Two crested lizard”

IRl, it’d be the size of a movie Velociraptor, and also it could not spit venom, and neither did it have a frill.

Next: Plains Feat: Russia

Fields n’ stuff. Also, for most of these, in real life there would only be bushes and ferns, no flowers or grass, as those did not exist yet.

Olorotitan

“Swan titan”

From Russia, this big ol’ dinosaur would have one of the prettiest crests i’ve ever seen.

Prasaurolophus

“Near crested lizard”

It is theorized that Parasaurolophus and many other crested hadrosaurs would use their crests as resonance chambers to produce their “roars”.

Gigantspinosaurus (Right)

“Giant spine lizard”

Big shoulder spikes, need I say more?

Sinoceratops (Left)

“Chinese horned face”(Sounds kinda racist but OK)

Big horn, bent and perforated frill, all to go up to their mates and seduce them.

Tsintaosaurus

“Quingdao lizard”

Cool crest too.

Archaeornithomimus

“Ancient bird mimic”

Similar to Gallimimus, but older.

Alright, onto: Europe

In the age of the dinosaurs, it didn’t exist. it was split in Iceland and Scotland, a bit of Spain and Portugal in Africa, Italy was off on its own, and the rest was stuck to Asia, making for very diverse environments, but this game focuses on England so...

Back then it was similar to today, just without Scotland as a hat.

Iguanodon

“Iguana tooth”

Actually, what the 1800s Scientist that named it thought was a big ol’ tooth, was just it’s thumb.

Polacanthus

“Many thorns”

Spiked chap from England.

Then: Fields

Fields.

Metriacanthosaurus

“Medium spined lizard”

Pretty big n’ fast. as the name implies, its spine’s protuberances were elongated, but not too much.

Next up: Swamp

Baryonyx

“Heavy claw”

These boys were pretty much smaller Suchomimus, but in europe, and with a really big finger.(Seriously)

Okay, now onto the big one: North America

Really big huh? Also Greenland was still stuck to Canada, and south america was separated.

Starting with: Forests

Pretty close to today’s American forests, but again, no flowers, no grass, and no decidius trees. (The ones that lose their leaves in the winter)

Ankylosaurus

“Fused lizard”

Quite a big animal, heavily armored too, but, in real life, most of its armor plating would be under its meat, making it look like a big bean lizard.

Dracorex / Dracorex Hogwartsia

“Dragon king” / “Dragon king of Hogwarts”

Yes, it’s named after Harry Potter’s school.

Edmontosaurus

“Lizard from Edmonton”

Comes from Canada, big herds, so basically, lizard cow. (No milk though)

Nodosaurus

“Knobbed lizard”

Big, armored, and spikey, also, so heavy that you ould not flip it over even if you tried.

Stygimoloch (Stee-gee-mole-ock) (I know its weird)

“Devil from Styx”

Hard skull, horns, but a herbivore. Altough, it is thought that it and Dracorex could be young...

Pachycephalosaurus (Right)

“Thick headed lizard”

These things were as tall as a cow, and had a hard skull, wich we don’t know the purpose for still.

Corythosaurus (Left)

“Helmet lizard”

No fun fact, but, it was meant to appear in the second Jurassic Park film, but they cut it because it was misspelled as “Carinthosaurus”.

Torosaurus

“Perforated lizard”

Just your average ceratopsid, but it’s theorized that it was only a juvenile...

Triceratops

“Three-horned face”

I don’t really like this game’s rendition of it, as IRL it would be closer to torosaurus in appearence.

Well, onto the: Swamp

Swampy marslands were also abundant in North America.

Deinonychus

“Terrible claw”

IRL, they would be as tall as a big dog, and they would not have that dumb crest on their heads.

Then: Fields

There were also large fields in Americana back then.

Albertasaurus

“Alberta lizard”

A large tyrannosaurid hunter, with some pretty horns/crests.

Camarasaurus

“Chamber lizard”

A pretty small sauropod, travelled in big herds, basically an elephant in America (Also has relatives in Europe)

Diplodocus

“Double beam”

Super long and thin tail, was used like a whip for self defense, and could kill from how fast it moved.

Euoplocephalus

“Well-armoured head”

Small, hard boned, and ㄒ卄丨匚匚.

Maiasaura

“Mother lizard”

It was the first dinosaur discovered protecting its nest, wich we now belive most dinosaurs did, like birds.

Nasutoceratops

“Large nosed horned face”

Big nose, bull-like horns, what more could you ask for?

Stegosaurus

“Roofed lizard”

Classic dinosaur, but did you know that its brain is about the size of two peanuts?

Struthiomimus

“Ostrich mimic”

The name tells you all that you need to know.

Tyrannosaurus Rex

“Tyrant lizard king”

What can i say that hasn’t been said already? Well, to begin, recently we began to think that, it did not have feathers or rugged skin, but instead a soft leathery covering, and, it probably also had “lips” to cover its teeth.

Onto: Vast plains

Basically the entire state of nevada, but spread out onto the entire continent.

Allosaurus

“Different lizard”

Classic dinosaur, three fingers, 90 degree wide mouth open, big crests on its eyes, what more could you want?

Acrocanthosaurus

“Tall spined lizard”

Sorry for saying it again, but this thing was ᗪㄩ爪爪ㄚ　ㄒ卄丨匚匚 because of its spine being really tall.

And finally, we come to: South America

Big jungles, same as the present, but stuck to africa.

Dreadnoughtus

“Fear nothing” (Dang that’s rad)

Big, massive muscles, yeah, thet name’s appropriate.

Giganotosaurus

“Giant southern lizard”

Huge predator, cool nose ridges, super strong arms, you may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

Also: Fields

By the point in wich the one species represented here lived, grass and flowers were almost there.

Carnotaurus

“Meat eating bull”

Fun fact, this tiny meat eater had a special muscle and bone setup in its tail, wich made it able to run really heckin’ fast, but it could not turn very easily, that combined with its tiny vestigial arms, it was a horned sausage with with legs.

This is a representation of what flatlands looked like in South America in the Triassic, around 237 million years ago.

Herrerasaurus

“Herrera’s lizard”

A super old, elongated carnivore, one of the first dinosaurus to walk on two legs of this size. (At this point, crocodiles walked more like dinosaurus than dinosaurs, look up “Postosuchus” for an example)

That’s it. I hoped that, even if you don’t care about learning, you can take some of these fun facts into your brain.
