Brand X contained many players who also worked heavily as session musicians, they weren't just the stalwarts of progressive rock and jazz fusion. John Goodsall, for instance, could be found on many pop records from the 80's, including the one in the link, which remains one of those tunes that should be more known. Sure, the entire piece might be over the top, yet the latter quality gives us one more reason for the proper functionality of the tune. Moreover, Toni Basil assembled a fine collection of musicians for the composition, which you can hear in the fact they're all on board with this weirdness. However, I fear all the tunes by Mrs. Basil got overshadowed by her massive hit, which means we never got to see her develop in a Madonna with Devo as a backing band she could have been.
