Spinnin' around to 2024 - late New Years Sentai

My first drawing of the year! Don Doragoku cause it's the year of the dragon (And I'm a fan of Momotani Jiro), My OC sentai lead Victory Red, and the soon to be 2024 sentai lead, Boonboomger's Boon Red! An image of the three doing some spinning, It's a bit silly, but I imagine that the BoonBoomgers would spin the visor wheels before using special attacks (Either that or they can drive around on their heads lol.) I've been loving Kingohger and I'm optimistic for what BoonBoomger brings to the table.

Toy Review: RyuKonogeki (Avataro Sentai Donbrothers)

I'm starting with the newest piece of my 6th collection, because it's a fascinating toy.

To start off, it's massive, just under two feet long. Combined with the electronics in the head and batteries in the shaft, it has a real physical presence that makes it feel great in the hand. It also looks just like the prop pre-transformation in the show. The axe form is, just like in the show, clearly an afterthought. It looks oddly incomplete, the blade hanging off the shaft. The texturing all over is gorgeous, with even the back looking great, in spite of the visible screws.

The sounds are a strange mixed bag, with truly wild voice work from veteran VA Romi Park doing a high-pitched "kung fu" voice accompanied by some generally Chinese sounding music with a techno beat, but an oddly quiet speaker. It would probably be unbearable if it were louder, though.

The most impressive part of the design is the light work in the blade, which come on on activation, when you trigger the transformation sounds (by putting the gear in place), or trigger the attack sound (with a long press on the trigger). I'm not sure the pictures do justice to the excellent neon effect. In person, the dragon design also isn't visible over the tiger like it is in the picture.

But for all that it's aesthetically very pleasing, it falls a little shy as a toy. There are only three functions: attaching a gear, moving the blade, and pulling the trigger. In fact, while you complete both the transformation and attack sequences with a pull of the trigger, a quick pull just results in a clicking "empty" noise.

Moreover, the gear has essentially no integration, simply holding down a button on the head. This means that you don't need a second purchase to get all the sounds out of the toy, but sidelines the main gimmick of the show. Also, the gear can turn, but this has no effect, no electronics are connected.

All that said though? It passes the Kid Test with flying colors. My 4-year-old could get all the functions without help and has been excited to slay monsters every day since this came in the mail.

I'm not giving grades to these things, but I'll say that I definitely think it's a good piece, just a little underbaked. Pretty much like Jiro/Don Dragoku himself, I also expect I'll be more fond with time.

Isn’t it weird how Donbrothers only got one Figuarts and a prototype- And the prototype was fucking Murasame. Like not even the extra hero Jirou or the Sixth ranger Sonoi, but Murasame

it is really weird yeah. Though technically they got two; one of the Tamashii Nations exclusives last year was Don Kaito (arguably the most important thing to release).

I would have thought especially after Twokaizer that they'd follow an obvious pattern of doing Reds and Sixths but so far no sign of Dragoku and no sign of Kumonos. Dragoku is especially surprising bc he has an easy form change gimmick which Figuarts is all over usually

YU-DO Brave Donbrothers 2 revealed - Golden Momotaro, Don Murasame, Don Dragoku, Don Torabolt

With the first wave of YU-DO Brave Donbrothers having been out for a few months now, website listings have updated their listings for the Avataro Sentai's second wave with full details and images. YU-DO Brave Donbrothers 2 is to feature the main character's latest power-up form; Golden Momotaro, the antagonist Don Murasame, and both forms of the sixth ranger; Don Dragoku and Don Torabolt. Notably, the series' henchman - the Anonni - is not featured in Wave 2 in a first since Kyuranger.

Each figure is split across two boxes like Kamen Rider's SO-DO and come with both their alternate splayed hands and all their weapons, though Golden Momotaro is notably missing his golden fan. Also notable about Golden Momotaro is that his included Zanglassword's sticker is glowing to represent it in its active attacking state, rather than the default colours used for last wave's release of the weapon. Don Murasame's sword meanwhile can be stored on his back like in the show.

YU-DO Brave Donbrothers 2 releases at general retail by October 31st for 480 Yen per box, with pre-orders available now.

The last part for my drawings to celebrate the finally of Donbros, Sorry it took so long... That finale was fantastic, a little quick but I feel that it wrapped everything up quite nicely! A great finale for a great show! I'm really looking foward to see how they continue the story in Zenkaiger vs Donbrothers!
