omg not to anthropologise everything sorry but the Realisashun that globally the majority of cultures and religions have laws/customs/rituals around the slaughter of animals and/or dietary laws around what may be consumed except one and u know which one.... interesting

#all of the big 6 except xtianity have the latter #but like every animistic tradition ive personally read abt features like some kind of special preparation or method around hunting #in order to show respect to the animal or to kill only its body not its soul #and sometimes prohibitions on certain things being hunted or in certain contexts etc #so I'd fairly comfortably say xtianity might be the only tradition w customs around neither hunting/slaughtering nor dietary laws #also ik that like. a minority of xtians fast but im not counting that here #bc that's nothing to do w like a link to what ur eating or thoughtfulness around the thing that died to feed u etc #it's usually an inwardly focused practise for mental clarity or gratitude for ur circumstances or restriction of desire etc #also the reason I say it's interesting is bc it's probably normal and important to have this relationship and western xtian culture is the #odd one out for removing it rather than the other way around n obviously like a lot to be said for why and how it was removed as well
