Hi! Thank you sm, I am really proud of my hood-decorating skills!!

I would consider it (especailly since I love downloading pre-decorated neighbourhoods myself and have downloaded/used them in the way you describe in the past, it'd be nice to pay it forward) but I used sooooooo much CC when decorating the neighbourhood and my hood deco folder is extremely poorly organised so I wouldn't know where to begin with sharing a decorated neighbourhood like that!

Possibly I could do it with a really extensive resource list but it would be quite time-consuming because of my messy deco folder :')

So, while I would not 100% rule it out as a potential future thing, (especially since looking at Veronaville I think I had less cc back when I decorated this? maybe I could source most of it! I do really like the idea of sharing it!) I have not had a lot of time to play lately and am not sure if I will actually get around to it 😅 so, um, no promises but if I get a chance in the next couple of weeks I will look into it! it's a maybe!

Genetically Accurate Desiderata Valley

Hi everyone, Didn't expect to be gone from doing stuff online for so long but I guess I'm back, idk. No idea for how long As previous post stated, I already posted what I made so far, so it was probably about time to make some new stuff. So here is another GC hood of mine.

Friend of mine was looking for my GC Desiderata Valley, but couldn't find it cuz it didn't exist yet lol, so I thought I may get back to making GC hoods as it was next on my list before I stopped xd. Idea is the same as always - I took 1st gen ancestors, mixed them together and mixed these results together to get new faces for our playable sims. Tried to make them look as good and unique as it was possible with these faces. I think these ones look pretty good. I'm pretty happy with the results here.

Also yeah. Changed PC, didn't install clean UI on new one, so the pics will look blue from now on probably, lmao After such break I managed to lose count of my hoods, so I named this one (subhood version) 07, cuz I believe last one was 06 as Tutorial.

Only one I have mixed feelings about is Issac. I kinda like how he looks but I'm really unsure if it fits him. But I decided to keep it, as he looks really unique with it, and kinda shows his unique ancestors.

Unplayable sims (like deceased parents, spouses, uncles, etc etc) also got genetically mixed faces so I recommend checking trees if you feel like it.

I had to launch these neighbourhoods in game to edit everything so UC is required. In theory I didn’t use any expansion packs but that’s how the sims works sadly. Wrote it all after work at around 2-3am, so if I forgot something pls forgive me lmao also feel free to comment opinions.

Too Fond of Books - Book Cover & Novel Icon Defaults

Hey everyone! I have something a little different to share today...a set of book cover and novel icon defaults! 📚

Full disclosure first: learning how to default stuff is really high on my priority list right now, but I have not done it yet. These defaults are simply texture swaps of Slig's Default Book Covers and Novel Icons because I am very much a don't-reinvent-the-damn-wheel kind of woman. Obviously, you cannot have Slig's defaults and mine at the same time.

So there are covers for all the book genres, including the skill-book-on-steroids that comes from the education career reward shelf:

They're mostly inspired by Sims elements, although not entirely:

Romance: Pleasantview, featuring Daniel and Mary Sue Pleasant

Drama: A Veronaville Dream

Mystery: The Hound I'm a fan of Sherlock Holmes stories so this is just a straight-up Hound of the Baskervilles reference, but I made the (illegible lol) author Mole, as in Desiderata Valley's John Mole

Reference: The Maastrichtian Age, which is the age when Tyrannosaurus rex lived...I don't care if they're studying cleaning, I always want my Sims reading about dinosaurs XD

Cooking: Sue's Secret Recipes as a nod to Sue's Secret Kitchen, the cooking hobby secret lot

Sci-Fi: Dragon Valley Sooo...I like sci-fi, but I'm much more into fantasy, so that's the direction I went for this one (it still says sci-fi on the bookshelf selection). The (also illegible) author is Hugh Grey, a writer from TS3's Dragon Valley hood

Children's: Bilious Bob by Thomas Quill, historian/librarian from TS3's Barnacle Bay. This is a reference to the pirate captain ghost who haunts the Twikkii Island pirate ship

Education Skill Book: Knowledge For All Seasons by Lazlo Curious. Does what it says on the box :P

And then there are the icon replacements. The covers match the ones above (minus the education book, of course). I went through a lot of icons and found matches for most of the plot elements...but I also changed quite a few to better suit my own tastes. Most of the sci-fi stuff got nixed in favor of new fantasy elements, and some of the ones I never used went out the window as well.

So you still get aliens and weather, but also dragons and tea, because who doesn't love dragons and tea? 🐉 🍵

There are two separate packages in the download, so if you only want book defaults and not the icons, or vice versa, just chuck the one you don't want. Swatches are also included as a reference.

Most of the book cover icons are by max.icons, but there are also a few by Chanut-is-Industries, ultimatearm, Icon Pond and Freepik. All of the plot element icons are by Freepik.

Make your own UberHood with all the townies!

Yes! You!  At this stage, to my knowledge, you can only do this the lazy way when creating an Uberhood new, from scratch. It may well be possible - but IDK. The ancestors... well thats a hard job which I dont think anyone wants to tackle. Not all of these subhoods add the NPCs, but most do. Its hit and miss. But thats part of the fun I guess!

Strangetown Sunrader has subhoodified Dorsal Axe’s Fixed Strangetown. Dorsal Axe’s is a dream for purists who merely wish to not borkify their games. Find Sunrader’s Website here. 

Veronaville

Once again, Sunrader comes to the rescue. They used A technique of their own invention to extract Townies and NPCs, added them to MeetMe’s template, and then converted to a subhood. Once again, their website is here.

University

Introducing ZachJohnUnlimited on MTS. While he has gone through the process of adding Townies and NPCs to MeetMe’s Bluewater Village, Riverblossom Hills and Desiderata Valley using CAS, this is their work from scratch, and includes all of the Dormies plus extra lore.  Find Sim State University, La Fiesta Tech and Academie Le Tour on their MTS Post here.

I don’t think there are clean templates. Can someone let me know if there is one? Twikkii Island and especially Takemizu Village are diabolical. Three Lakes gets a pass (a mountain pass, hahaha). Just use the ones that ship with the game, god. Unrelated, ProfesionalPartyGuest has done a good job at making Locals which are less terrible. click on the hood names earlier to find em.

Thanks to @knut-rocketman who helped me with putting this list together over discord when I was off my face on Vertigo medication (I made my game into a BFBVS several times). Jawusa’s empty hoods might also be of use.

Hi! Hope you're well! I have a bit of a random question: how do you have the seasons set up in your Desiderata Valley to achieve the "tropical" feel? I'm beginning to set up a tropical-themed 'hood and was just curious.

Hi! I think in my uberhood I have it set to Spring-Summer-Summer-Spring? (most of the hoods are Spring-Summer-Autumn-Winter). Idk if that really makes sense, haha, I didnt really rhink about it that deeply, but I didn't want any autumn trees or snow xD

Can you tell me what hoods you are using and how come you’re sims look so different from other premades?

Currently my Uberhood consists of the 3 base game hoods and are connected to Bluewater Village and Desiderata Valley for any spares and "side characters" of sorts.

I do have a few premades, that are "corrected" genetically - specifically the Pleasant twins and the Goth siblings. Everyone else is pretty much the same, only I slap a lot of cc and default replacements into my game, so they fit more with the style I like. I generally try to stick to how they look in vanilla and try to match it with my makeovers at least with the colour themes, but sometimes I just like to experiment with different looks for them based on how I interpret them.
