Did some none Disney ladies for practice and thought I'd share. So from top clockwise there's Daria from The Princess and the Pea, Beauty from Don Bluth's unfinished Beauty and the Beast, Clara from The Nutcracker Prince, and Snow White from Filmation's Happily Ever After

Currently rewatching your review of The Princess and the Pea and it made me wonder what it would've been like if Daria actually did get a nice adopted family. It would be an interesting change from the heroine being abused and made a servant by her nasty step-family trope. Plus, imagine the depth it would give her character of realizing that the people she loved and grew up believing were her birth parents really weren't.
But then it wouldn't conform to the Official Law of All Fairy Tales!

In your opinion, who are the most overused Non Disney (the characters that aren't Disney) characters in the non/Disney editing community? Alternately, which characters do you think are the most underused? I'm just curious :3c
Jack Frost maybe? But then again I don’t mind at all that there are some character that are more popular than others. But I would loooove to see more people edit with:
Snow White (Happily Ever After, 1993)
Tumblr media
Daria (The Princess And The Pea, 2002)
Tumblr media
Anna (The King And I, 1999)
Tumblr media
Polly (The Scarecrow, 2000)
Tumblr media
Unfortunately it seems to be more or less impossible to find these movies in HD so RIP us editors. (TT_TT)

How would you have written the Princess and the Pea film?
Honestly I think there is some solid stuff already there, it just needs some tightening storywise/a bigger budget for better animation/song writing. So I'd more tweak it then anything.
1. Fix the songs.
I, for the life of me, can not tell what people are even saying half the time in that first song. Laird's song, Daria's ballad in the castle and the song with all the princesses arnt too bad but my gosh, Daria's intro and Sebastian's song makes me grind my teeth. The rythem and rhyme scheme are all over the place. (Also better voice actors for some of the actors/singers)
2. Tighten the world building. Honestly the movies weakest point imo
Like, why is Sebastian the only animal that can talk? Why does he have access to these ancient tomes and seem to be part of the castle court? Honestly, I would love it if he was the court wizard who accidentally turned himself into a raven and can't figure out how to change back but just keeps coming to work anyway. I think that would hilarious and give him more reason to be interested in the prophecy of the pea
Also--MAKE THE PROPHECY MATTER MORE. They set it up like its this huge deal but then really dont do much after they trick Laird into giving up the kingship? (The whole loophole how that works is insane but perfect for a fairytale and set up well with Laird's vanity foiling himself)
Not to mention, maybe explain more about this mysterious past princess, why she was so important, how she was "discovered by a pea" and what happened to her? We see that her castle is now in ruins in the forest and the scroll telling about her/her prophecy had been lost and buried till Rollo's dog dug it up but like--why??? What the heck happened? Explain how the golden age of Corazion rose and fell and then link that all into what will happen if they don't get the next proper pea princess on the throne
It doesn't have to make Real World sense but it does have to make sense internally
Also change the whole Pig Kingdom thing. Maybe just make it some random provence and have Heath banish Laird there after he tries to stage a coup isntead of just throwing a fit. Like, dude I'd be pissed too if you stole my crown and then banished me when I complained. At least give me chance to kill you first before banishing me so I look like proper villain and you can look like a somewhat competent king for stopping me. (Also, why is there just a whole kingdom for Laird to rule that's economy is appentirely based totally on pigs and yet we only see three? )
3. Build on Character Development/Storylines
Everyone's pretty archtype-y here and thats not necessarily a bad thing, this is a fairytale after all, but there are hints at deeper character development that don't get carried after introduction
Like Helsa'a bonding/guilt over baby Daria. Bring that back when she sees grown up Daria. Have her recognize her and show some more conflict over Laird's determination to ruin her life even more
Have a more balanced relationship between Heath and Hildegard. They thought they were father and daughter for years and even if they didnt get along Heath at least must have loved her a little, good dude that he's meant to be. Maybe have her still be her wonderfully rude confident self but she has a soft spot for her dad? Maybe have what Laird says about her feeling she can never measure up to her "mother's" memoru be true, and then have her act out of that frustration and anger when she finds out het life is a lie and team up with her birth parents--but ultimately she can't bring herself to actually harm Heath? And this could work in well with Helsa's guilt and they could both turn against Laird later and help Daria.
Like, Hildegard can still be a spoiled brat, (cuz she's hilarous that way, I unironcally enjoy her scenery eating performances and how proud Laird is of how awful she is) but like--Heath seems to have had no role in her upbringing at all for her to turn out to be such a big one? Though honestly, he does seem to be a pretty big pushover of a king tbh. Like, he's not a tyrant, but he doesn't seem to be much of a leader either. If this were a deeper show, I'd say lean into that and have Daria be the balance between fairness and firmness needed to rule, gained from her harsh upbringing. It gave sensitivity to the plight of others but also showed her that sometimes you need to stand up for yourself, ect.
Give Rollo needing to marry a rich princess some more weight to it. Like, nothing major, just any little line to show his kingdom really, really needs an alliance to give him more reason to agree to marry Hildegard while still mourning Daria. Show more that he doesn't at all want to marry her even if she does seem to have a better attitude and he's being polite to her. But he's still very mucb mourning Dahlia
And finally--Have Laird keep his vow he wont take off his golden shoes till he actually gets the crown!
That's hilarious!! It's great! It shows his fanatical obession with his need for revenge ans is so over the top and camp and fairytale like and he could be dressed to the 9s but in this incrediblely ruined shoes to remind you just how ridcoulsly vain he is but how seriously he's taking this vengeance plot--but no they just have him kick them off two minutes after saying that >:[
So yeah, there's the changes I'd make to The Princess and the Pea. I could probably think of a few more but those are what stood out to me

The Cushion Saturation— 2.16
Summary: A game of paintball leads to a squabble when Penny accidentally shoots a paint gun at one of Sheldon's cushions, leaving an ugly stain that can't be removed and motivating Sheldon to seek revenge.
1.) The paintball thing always seemed kinda funny to me. They make it clear that none of the guys are particularly physical. And yet, they find this fun. Maybe it is. I’ve never played paintball. An episode of Daria from my youth took care of that. Those paintball thingys kinda hurt.
2.) Howard sure likes hooking up in paintball sheds.
3.) I like that Howard’s mom is sex positive. And cares about her son’s health.
4.) It seems like Leonard could have found something to remove the paint from the leather seat. It’s not particularly porous, and that paint must be designed to come off easily.
5.) Sheldon would nail the test from the princess and the pea.
6.) I cannot imagine anyone working that hard to take care of me.

the whole Princess and the Pea (2002) movie is pretty good.. just horribly flawed. There was so much promise in the begining part of the movie with probably the best villain scheme I’d seen in older films in a while.
But then it decides to take short cuts in the writing instead of developing things.
Helsa seemed like she was being written to be given a redemption later then dropped the moment the time skip takes over and never mentioned again how she was so worried for her niece's well being and had second thoughts for the plan. Which I will forever be bitter over with this movie
The plus side is Laird is a riot to watch. He’s awful, cowardly, but a pretty decent Chessmaster of a villain.
The main characters are pretty shallow but decent in your classic Disney (ripoff) fashion for protagonists. Rollo could of been written better in some parts after the time skip. But I gotta say Daria is mostly fine as she is, I mean she keeps diverting all Rollo’s affections to her to her pigs and other animals and its just adorable.
I’m no good at reviewing though but man I love this movie alot despite its flaws.

I always wondered why out of a lot of Disney movies that didn’t really need sequels, that they never did one to The Sword in the Stone. They could add in more from the King Arthur/Camelot legend. Characters like Morgana/Morgan Le Fay, Morgause, Lancelot, Guinevere, etc.
But knowing Disney, they would have to change some things from the legend. They likely wouldn’t have Gwen cheat on Arthur with Lancelot, Arthur wouldn’t die, Arthur wouldn’t rape his half-sister Morgana/Morgan Le Fay resulting in the birth of their incest child that would kill Arthur, Mordred. It is Disney, after all, and there’s no way any of those protective parents would allow their children to see it. Anyway, I’ll just copy and paste what I said about the pictures from my deviantart descriptions.
For Adult Arthur, I used a lot of Phoebus, but for the face, I actually used Edward from Enchanted and I gave him a different crown from the one he had in the original movie that was too big for his head lol. I also felt like a beard would complete the look because I usually associate an adult King Arthur with a beard. I had his armor made out of gold with a Camelot symbol to contrast with Lancelot being in silver to indicate who the leader was (Though, the crown does give that away lol). I also gave him a red cape to kind of be a call back to his red squire outfit. Gwen's design is definitely my favorite out of all of them because it's such a gorgeous design in my opinion. I couldn't decide if I'd use the face of Madellaine from The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2 or Daria from The Princess and the Pea (Which is a movie most people don't know about), so I found a way to compromise. I used the head shape of Daria (As well as her bangs) and the face of Madellaine. I also used the hair of Giselle from Enchanted. I love the way she looks in green, particularly since redheads looks wonderful in green. I always kind of imagined Gwen as a redhead for some reason and green just really seemed to suit her. With Lancelot, I just had to make him black because (I don't know how) he seems to be portrayed by African American men quite a lot. For him I used bits and pieces of Sweet from Atlantis and James from The Princess and the Frog. I did try to make him look younger than those characters because he would be the same age as Arthur. Merlin and Archimedes have very little change in their appearances, other than that I used a different color palette to make them look like they are in a movie with better animation. No offense to anyone who likes the animation in the original Sword in the Stone but it's pretty average with a mediocre color palette, sketchy lines, unimpressive backgrounds, and some things that look either repeated in the movie or unfinished. Although, the magic that Merlin and Madam Mim do is impressive, whether it's by themselves or against each other in the wizards duel.
I drew inspiration for their designs off of the way they looked in the BBC Merlin show. I almost when with green with Morgana but I decided not to because I planned on making Guinevere a redhead and I think green looks really good on redheads. Plus purple does show her belief that the throne is rightfully hers and not her half-brother's. She also has green eyes to show her as the envious green-eyed monster. I also felt like doing another picture of them but this time doing some magic. I loved having them summoning magic with their hands, their eyes glowing the same color as their normal eye color (Green for Morgana and violet for Morgause), and Morgana's purple gem glowing as well.

Looks like my drive to draw is finally coming back (hopefully that won’t jinx it🤞🏻) So here’s a few more Non-Disney Descendants girls
First is Leone, the daughter of Kayley and Garrett from Quest for Camelot ( I will admit to straight up messing about with some old Kayley concept art I liked for her—also I’m a pedantic nerd who needs things to be at least somewhat “period accurate” so I decided Kayley’s real name is Cailín and Kayley is her childhood mispronounciation/nickname) anyway Leone is named for the sister of the character that Kayleynwss incredibly loosely based on from the novel The King’s Damsel
Then we have Mariana, the daughter of Daria and Rollo from the little known Princess and the Pea film, named for her maternal grandmother who died when Daria was born.
And finally we have Skyla, the daughter of Crysta from Ferngully and—whichever boy you like, Zak or Pips I couldn’t decide so I put both their color schemes in, and tried to make her hair a good mix for either parent couple (cuz come on we all know Zak ain’t a natural blond)

In your hollina aus, who would you cast as an older Holli and lina? Do all of your hollina edits exist in an au?
This question kept me awake last night for over an hour! Who to cast as older hollina!
I'd cast Lina as either: Anna from the King and I or Daria from The Princess and the pea.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Holli, was more of a challenge. For her I'd cast either the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio or Sophie from Anastasia.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There really arent a lot of good matches for older holli, which was why this took me forever to answer.
And Yes, for the sake of my sanity let's say that all my hollina edits exist in one of my aus if unspecified. Probably either the country modern au, the muted au, or the non/disney high au.
