It seems that my hyperfixation on The Quarry has evolved into hyperfixating on Miles Robbins and then his movie Daniel isn’t real. Literally what is wrong with me 😭

Daniel isn’t real is criminally underrated and I need it inserted directly into my veins until I hemorrhage or something.
also I think it’s funny most of the letterboxd reviews are either:
-People surprised these Nepo babies can actually act
-Compliments of the soundtrack
-“what the fuck did I just watch”
-Daniel is hot
-miles Robbins is hot
-memes
-actual serious reviews
-“was the director on acid?”
-the insane amounts of comparisons to fight club, drop dead Fred, jacobs ladder, etc
-Luke and Daniel should’ve fucked

was trying to think of a way Dylan could snap and become like Daniel in Luke’s body but I don’t see a single way that could happen. Man was turning into a werewolf and didn’t hurt anyone once. All he wanted to do was protect his friends. There’s no way I can see Dylan becoming evil.

Birthday gift for @mythicalheartbeat!! Happy birthday!!! You asked for a Radioheads date, but I thought why not have some fluff of the twins? Mostly fluff, at least:
The feeling of fingers brushing through his hair wakes him up.
Dylan wakes up slowly. The smell of eggs and toast fills the room and his mouth waters. Breakfast is a rare treat in their household- mom never cooks them anything, too busy in her room upstairs to bother with her own children, so it must’ve been Luke.
“Good morning Dyl.” His brother’s warm voice meets his ears as his eyes finally flutter open to take in the other at his bedside. Luke is holding a plate of French toast (his favorite!) with a side of bacon and eggs. He ushers Dylan to sit up and hands the plate to him.
Dylan snatches up the fork and begins to scoop food into his mouth, managing a “Good morning ‘Lu.” between bites. He hears Luke chuckle and he feels a smile spread across his lips at the sound. Luke doesn’t laugh very often- must be a good day.
He quickly finishes off the plate and sets in on his bedside table before turning to Luke. “Breakfast in bed? What’s the occasion?”
The smile on Luke’s face turns sad. “Of course you’d forget… This is the first year we could properly celebrate.” He reaches reaches for something- a little box, which he holds out for Dylan to take. “Happy birthday.”
A gift? For him? Dylan takes the box and clutches it to his chest. He’s never gotten a birthday present before…
“What is it?” He asks. Luke gestures for him to open it.
“Find out for yourself.”
The box itself easily sits in the palm of his small hand. It’s gray, with no decoration save for a little black ribbon wrapped around it. Dylan feels his excitement grow as he carefully unties the ribbon and removes the lid.
There, sat on a pillow of some soft material, is a prefect crescent moon. It’s silver in color, and when he picks it up he realizes it’s actually a necklace held together with a black cord. Dylan watches in wonder as the pendant catches the light.
“You got this? For me?”
Luke smiles softly. “Who else would I get it for? My favorite brother?”
“I’m your only brother…” Dylan pulls the necklace over his head and looks down to admire the crescent moon against his chest. “I love it! Thank you!”
He throws himself across the bed and into his brother’s arms. Luke catches him and Dylan snuggles into his brother’s arms, and even though they’re the same size, Dylan feels safe with Luke wrapped around him.
“I love you.” He mumbles against the other’s shoulder. Dylan feels Luke’s shoulders shake.
“I love you too. So much.” A kiss is pressed to the top of his head. “I’m glad you liked your gift. Fourteen is kinda a big deal, so I thought I’d go all out this year.”
Fourteen doesn’t feel like a big deal to Dylan. Was it supposed to be? Was he supposed to be excited?
He knew he and Luke weren’t like the other kids. They didn’t get birthday parties, or get gifts from their parents at school, or have classroom parties. Mother never so much as acknowledged their existence most of the time, and Dylan doesn’t even remember their dad, if he was ever around to begin with. Luke doesn’t like to talk about the past, so he doesn’t ask.
“Oh!” Dylan slides off the side of the bed and kneels to reach underneath it. “I got you something!”
It hadn’t meant to be a birthday gift- he’d actually just managed to get it yesterday. He’d saw Luke eyeing something very similar while they had been looking in store windows a few months ago, and after three months of doing odd jobs for their neighbor across the street, she’d let him have it- the perfect gift! Luke would love it!
“Here!” Dylan presents the gift- it’s a camera, old and a little beaten up but still in working condition. It even had film, and she had been sweet enough to throw in a couple extra packages along with a little leather carrying case. Luke looks at him in shock.
“Dylan, where did you get this?”
“The neighbor! I saw she was selling it and I asked if I could do work for her in exchange. It took awhile but I finally got it yesterday!” When his brother’s expression doesn’t change, he pulls the camera to his chest. “Do you not like it?”
“No no! I love it Dyl!” Luke slides onto the floor with him. “I’m just… this is amazing. Thank you.”
He takes the camera from Dylan and carefully examines it, and he watches with glee as his brother’s smile grows. Luke looks up at him and grins. “Let’s take a picture.”
“Yeah!” Dylan scoots over to make room for him and they lean against the side of the bed, pressed shoulder to shoulder. “Say cheese!”
————
Dylan holds the Polaroid in shaking fingers. On it are two young boys, forever trapped in a moment of happiness. Tears well up in his eyes as he traces over his brother’s face.
I miss you so much. I’ll make it back to you. I promise.

I watch Daniel Isn’t Real (2019) this morning because @cipheramnesia was posting about it and wow!! it was excellent! Usually psychological thrillers don’t have so much delicious body horror.
I was blown away by Miles Robbins and Patrick Schwarzenegger’s acting chops. Daniel (played by Patrick) looked and felt like Patrick Bateman at his most charming. If it’s intentional, it’s a perfect touchstone for a character who is the abyss. Slick, slimy, self-obsessed, but unlike Bateman, totally unconcerned that there’s nothing underneath his facade. The part where he starts reciting Exodus 20 (I am the lord your god you shall have no other gods before me) was terrifying. Miles Robbins did such a fantastic job embodying Luke and Daniel that you can absolutely tell when he which character.
The movie felt like it operated on the same kind of fairy tale logic as John Dies at the End. Everything hangs together in a really satisfying way. One of my favorite parts of the movie was Luke and Daniel’s sword fight at the end, calling back to their childhood broom fights. The fight choreography was super cool. Both were clearly amateurs, but with enough energy to be dangerous. Man I love sword fights.
The visuals were also consistently sick as hell. Luke takes a lot of photos, and you can see that this movie was shot by someone who loves photography. Lots of cool shots throughout. It felt nice and grimy, too. Luke’s clothes are worn and his house is a mess. It feels real in a way I don’t see a lot outside of low budget horror.
I feel tentatively ok with the way this movie portrayed psychotic people. The big twist is that Daniel isn’t a psychotic vision, he’s a malevolent supernatural being. Every time Luke does something violent because of Daniel, it’s preceded by something Daniel taking over Luke’s body in an obvious, fleshy way. It’s clear that Daniel is not a metaphor for psychosis. Luke’s mom has [unspecified mental illness] that makes her erratic when she’s off her meds, but it’s fairly clear that she is only ever a danger to herself.
It was also a tight 70 minutes! Easy to get through. If you like freaky visuals and freaky demons, I super recommend this movie. 7/10 a romp

red bull: daniel’s bad habits from mclaren are fixed, he did well in the sim, and his tire test was so good that we immediately knew he was ready to be in a car.
alpha tauri & yuki: daniel’s feedback on the car has been instrumental, and he performed so well in difficult race conditions even though he didn’t have any upgrades and had some bad luck.
rando twitter user who doesn’t have the data, didn’t know liam lawson’s name three weeks ago, and constantly insults the way red bull quickly drops drivers who don’t perform: they’re only letting him drive for pr even though he’s a washed up failure.
