And lastly, little Amity has made her way into the city to rent one of the empty townhouses near the market. It’s not the height of luxury but she has plenty of room and some money to buy some necessities for herself with.
As with Arley, she has decided to choose her name and she will now be known as Amity Wrytar. Can you guys tell that I am amazing with naming people?
And that is IT for the Waif household. The oldest children are grown up and starting their lives and Sister Golda and Eos remain behind. They paid no taxes but instead, received their §2000 stipend from the Crown for the ongoing care and education of foundlings.

I've been reading mortia's Dallubach and saw a really cool gameplay system that I hadn't thought of before. So the sims in Dallubach can make orders for craftable items. The crafter can then sell them to other playables at a markup price (instead of selling them at a business). That's so cool! And it feels a lot less aimless than having her craft random baskets for a laugh. Anyway! Cliff will be down during the weekend to pick up his order of produce baskets and skeps.

You guys, I played my game for like, an entire DAY over the weekend! I did it! I think I’ve now been playing the Waif household for well over a year or so because I haven’t played long enough to move on from here. Oh well. The kids (Arley and Amity) were a couple of days out from becoming Teens (and therefore adults) so I had to really start thinking about their futures. They’re both creative with Arley wanting to be a painter and Amity a scribe.
Baby Eos is also due to age up so Sister Golda will still have at least one kid left when the other two have left the nest!.
Tell you what, this rotation was honestly pretty meh. I’ve spoken before about how I dislike that home-schooling your kids makes them all super-geniuses and I’ve been thinking of a way to calculate their grades manually based on dice rolls and traits, but I almost feel like I will just wait till I make a new game to implement those kinds of rules. I don’t want to abandon learning at home, as it feels more realistic to me, but I gotta do something!
On another front, I have decided to go ahead with the start of what I’ll call a “Patronage” program for my artistically-minded Sims. These two will be my first in the community and while they already have an advantage from being educated by the Sisters, they will still have to start out at the bottom with a small stipend once they leave the Foundling Home. IF they can garner a patron, then their start will be significantly easier, with them paying for city accommodations, membership in the Guild and University admission when the time comes. I’ll get more into how it’ll work when we get there...still working it out myself!

This could not have gone more differently...
Amity was able to win over Sir Hugh immediately. He was eager to chat about Literature and the two bonded over (apparently) a shared love for the written word. They shook on the bargain and the Percy family is now officially the patron of Amity Waif, the first Scribe of Dallùbach!
With this patronage, Amity will be free to move into a small house in the city and will receive a stipend of §750 per season to cover any expenses and allow her to work on her craft with no distractions. She will be granted a membership to the Merchant’s Guild in town, where she will be able to take classes to quickly build skills. When she becomes a Young Adult, her tuition will be fully paid should she wish to attend University.
Her adult life is off to an amazing start!

Now that the children have grown up, they have until the end of the rotation to make their plans and leave the Foundling House. They will each receive a §500 stipend from the Crown to begin their lives, but they must secure a future for themselves immediately.
Arley is first up.
He will attempt to curry favor and earn a patron by approaching the Head of a Gentry or Noble household and attempting to engage them in conversation about his chosen field, Arts and Crafts. If they respond favorably, and if he can achieve a relationship score of 25 within that first meeting, then he will have earned a patron! If they do not respond favorably to the topic of choice, then the artist will have failed and will have no choice but to try elsewhere.
I will start them both out with the Percy household, as Sir Hugh and Lady Kadja are both quite interested in the Arts, or have been in the past.

Back at the Foundling House, the parting allowances have been set out for Arley and Amity. They will each receive §500 from the Sisters, with Amity receiving an addition §750 from the Percy family.
Now we only have the one little guy to keep Golda company. Do I need to make some more orphans? I think I need more orphans.
Which reminds me, I was supposed to make a whole bunch of new families now that I’ve completed the MCC and I totally forgot...

Arley very much wanted to be friends with Milo Pullet, so I invited him over for a bit of treehouse fun. The two don’t get along particularly well so I’m not sure why he even wants to be friends with him!
Meanwhile, Amity was able to catch Matilda on her walk! She invited her inside where her presence immediately freaked out poor Arley, who had been neck-deep in his diary until then.

OK, so I forgot the Mortimer household in my list of places that Arley could beg for a future, but I don’t have a lot of hope for him, lmao. I purposely skipped over the households of the Knights, either in training or out on their own, because they really aren’t in a position financially to take someone under their wing in this way.
What do you guys think? Should I add the merchants in as potential patrons or is the pool we have to work with (Gentry and Nobility) wide and fair enough as is? Do we let Fate just roll on? He’ll have one more chance with Lord Geoffrey.
I realized that I never outlined what would happen to an artist that doesn’t find a patron. Basically, they will start poor. They will move into the Tenements in the village, at the Peasant level, and will have to work a regular career to pay their bills, doing their art in their spare time. If there is a career that allows them to hone their skills at the same time, then that is perfectly fine. They will not have access to the Guild unless they earn enough money to buy into the Bourgeoisie or Merchant Class and, unless able to pay their own way, will be unable to attend University. It’ll be a hard grind. It won’t be impossible for them to “make it” and climb their way up the social ladder, but it should be much more difficult.
(I feel so bad for Arley, hahahahahaha)

And somehow, yet again!!!
At this point I was just howling with laughter at my screen, this poor bastard. I am officially out of wealthy people that could have potentially been his patron and I feel terrible for him! Hahahahahaha
