Confluence Cyclery - Confluence Pa..... along the Great Allegheny Passage ( bike trail from Pittsburgh to Washington DC). A really great bike shop- my Pannier Rack mount broke during a tour and they were able to repair it and get me on my way.

i have been rereading the webcomic "yehuda moon and the kickstand cyclery" which ran from 2008 to 2017. it is about bike nerds and incidentally a bit chauvinist and assholeish about fat people. it makes me think about "i think you're sauceome" (2010–2013) by sarah becan, which started as an autobiographical food diary & encompassed both body dysmorphia + how good she is at bike commuting. the latter comic can now only be read by wayback machine i think—i reread it last year. bike webcomics of the late naughts and early twenty-teens

G&O Family Cyclery is Closing😢
G&O Closing - today may be your last chance to visit and help support them in person!😭
I highly recommend visiting! Today may be your last chance to visit and help support them in person!😭 I have many thoughts…  Most importantly: how do we sustain what we find essential?  Many people find places like G&O essential! We got our first cargo bike there, along with many others, and they’ve helped change many of our lives.  “Hauly Golightly”, our shiny new Bike Friday Haul-a-Day on…

FINALLY got the shipping confirmation on the handlebars, so they are on their way. Was able to get the brakes refunded and a new set ordered from an actual, not-generic-sounding vendor (these are coming from Planet Cyclery and tracking was provided this time), they should be here first part of next week.
I need to make a trip into Cbus next week on a day off anyways, will pick up the Jagwire then - I want to see the 'ice grey' color before buying.
That really just leaves the rear cog, chain, preloader, and whatever levers will end up fitting the new bars best.
The Nitto Sigma bar is a super-funky shape, but is 46cm with a backsweep and drops, and on top of that the horns don't look ridiculous. I totally dig the shape of this thing, did not know such an animal existed but am really stoked to get it. It's beyond perfect.
Tumblr media
Am liking the idea of some Cane Creek cross top levers tbh The photos I have seen of this bar shows it with STI shifters mounted just above the horns and it looks super crazy...
Tumblr media
...but am betting for CX it would be awesome. Still, this is just a city slicker so all the extra hand positions will be great for climbing but will likely be on the hoods the majority of the time. Cross tops seem most logical for comfort.
Will have to see when they get here. I'm already excited, though - did not expect to find anything wider than 44cm, and only a straight bar bullhorn at that. These are amazeballs.
Amazebars? I apologize.

Bike Shops in Melbourne
There are several excellent cycling stores in Melbourne. With so many people cycling, it is essential to know where to look when purchasing a new bicycle. While there are several internet sites that offer bicycles, nothing beats purchasing a bicycle from a local shop. You may purchase a bicycle at the best possible price, get it serviced, and have a professional answer your questions.
The finest aspect of this bicycle shop in Melbourne is that it is set in a building that appears to have been torn from the 1950s. This is because it was once a bespoke fixie garage. The proprietors eventually relocated into a storefront and grew the business.
Tumblr media
The Pedal Cyclery on Alexandra Parade and Brunswick Street is staffed by three men who share your enthusiasm for bicycles. They can conduct any conceivable sort of bicycle service.
Just Ride It! is a very young bike business that began as an internet store for fixie riders. Since then, it has expanded into a full-service bike shop in western Melbourne. As a beginning cyclist, you may browse their variety of bicycles, schedule a service, and even buy a personalised fixie.
