STARDEW VALLEY: THE CAVE FARM
A homework for a game designer class, we were supposed to plan a new level into our favorite game!
Walkthrough and notes:
ENTRANCE
This is inside of the little cave on your farm. There are three hollow places in wall, shaped for Ruby, Emerald and Aquamarine. Find those and place them in to open secret passage...
INNER CAVE
Its very dark here, but you can see eerie green glow of slowly rippening Glowberries in bushes. To the west, path is blocked by violet crystals, north path is blocked as well. To the east stands a strange statue of a dwarf. "His hands hold shrunk, rotten fruit".
While the Glowberries in here arent ripe yet, a glowing waterfall reveals a fully bush with a berry ready for harvest.
Once you place the glowing fruit into the statues hands, it comes to life.
This dwarf has been cursed by the pesky witch! He says he needs to find his wife, and runs to the west, revealing path in crystals and also clearing way to the east.
CAVE FARM
This is a place where you can grow mushroom crops, cave carrots and moss for fiber. The pink crystal house is not build yet.
DWARF HOME
In this area full of large crystals, you find another dwarf statue. Using another Glowberry, you bring to life dwarf lady.
The reunited dwarf pair stay here witjin their crystalline home. They introduce themselves as crystalsmiths - the husband works as an undeground "carpenter", may build you an underground geode house and even a ladder leading to your farm house.
The wife is a trader and may trade you mushroom spores, used as seeds. They will grow only underground.
You absolutely can tell the pair about Stardew mine dwarf - turns out they are his long lost parents! While the witch cursed them, she also saved them from attack of shadow people.
The dwarves mention also there is a benevolent dragon somewhere underground.
STAIRCASE AND DUNGEONS
The newly opened room on north shows shallow hole in the middle, and three currently dry paths for water, leading into three hallways.
Each hallway leads into a string of ten dungeon rooms. Red, green and blue dungeons have specific color pallette themes, stone, ores and gem themed enemies. They are darkened, lit by many Glowberry bushes. At the end of each dungeon lies tiny room with strange bush like stone in it - activate it with Glowberry to reveal its true form as a large red/ green/blue blossom, which also opens a water spring. You can hop into the water to activate WHEEEE animation while going down a waterslide, spitting you back in Staircase room and adding some water into the shallow hole.
Once all three dungeons are beaten, the hole fills with water coming from the three streams, screen shakes and floor reveals a staircase!
AXOLOTL CAVE
The staircase leads to underground lake, out of which opens a large grey mouth. Throw a nearby growing final Glowbery to revive a large axolotl - he is the kind king of the cave system, and dwarves confuse him for dragon.
As a reward for saving his kingdom, he rewards you with crystal seedlings - you can later trade for more at Dwarf home.
The crystal trees work like fruit trees, but they frow gems! They are the only plant from the caves that you can plant on surface, but there they bear "fruit" only during winter.

Descendants Canon: Prologue
(The Auradon royal cousins/Auradon Jr Council)
(Top to bottom: Ben Florian, Chad and Aricka Charming, Sebastian White and Audrey Rose.)
Our story begins with an iPad being flipped to a book, with the title Descendants. A young girl’s voice can be heard narrating; and this is what she says…
“Once upon a time, long, long ago... well, more like 20 years ago... Belle married her Beast in front of 6,000 of their closest personal friends.” She laughs. “Big cake. Yeah, so instead of a honeymoon, Beast united all of the kingdoms and got himself elected king of the United States of Auradon. He rounded up all the villains and sidekicks... basically all the really interesting people... and he booted them off to the Isle of the Lost with a magical barrier to keep them there.”
The iPad shows pictures of a decrepit wasteland; with rundown buildings, rotting trees and little to no food to be seen. “This is my hood. No magic. No wi-fi. No way out. Or so I thought. Hang on, you're about to meet us. But first, this happened…”

In the United States of Auradon, several teens gathered in a secret meeting room in Château de Bête, where they had been planning a special proclamation since they were 12. The teens gathered were:
Crown Prince Benjamin Alexandre Florian I of the United States of Auradon.
Crown Prince Chadwick James Charming of Sardinia, and his twin sister, Crown Princess Aricka Claire Charming of Charmington.
Crown Princess Audrey Rae-LynnRose of Auroriaand Ulstead, and fill-in heir of the Moors.
Crown Prince Sebastian Alistair White of Hanover, and his little sister, Crown Princess Emma White of Misthaven.
Prince Doug Crystalsmith of Stonehaven.
Future General of Xiangyang, Li Lonnie.
Sultan in training Aziz Jaliyl Ababwa of Agrabah.
Crown Princess Ruby Eliana Fitzherbert of Corona.
Future Head Fairy Godmother Jane LaFae of Auradon.
Crown Princess Melody Daniels of Atlantica and Westerly Kingdom.
Genie-in-Training Jordan Dahlia Fadel of Agrabah.
And the twins of Enchancia, Crown Princess Amber Rhiannon and Prince James Declan Winslow.
They were the future of Auradon after all. They had to be better than their parents when it came to providing equal opportunities for everyone who deserved them.

“Alright,” Ben addresses his future council. “Tomorrow is my final fitting for the coronation. I will also be announcing our first official proclamation to my parents. We all know which children we want to invite over. Do we all have our papers pleading those children’s cases?”
Aricka Charming, acting as Ben’s secretary in the moment, accepted the papers being passed forward and handed them to Ben, who slotted them into a briefcase next to him. “Thank you, Aricka,” he says, smiling gratefully at her. “Just so we’re all on the same page, let’s review the children I’ll be mentioning to my parents tomorrow.” He clears his throat. “I selected Mal Bertha; daughter of Maleficent. The daughter of the Mistress of all Evil deserves a chance to be good if she wants to be, and to have opportunities to be safe and in an environment where she can relax for once.”
“Jay Scheherazade. His mother knew he was kidnapped by his father when the barrier went up, and she’s been petitioning Auradon and Agrabah to rescue him for years, this is the least we can do for her.” That was Aziz. “That and nobody deserves to grow up with that man as a sperm donor.”
Audrey went next. “It was difficult for me to decide but after what our teams found out I believed the best choice was for me to pick Princess Evelyn Grimhilde. She has committed no crime against Auradon so her royal status should be respected and validated, and I know for a fact anyone living with someone like the EQ needs a chance to be free.” Jane and Aricka squeezed Audrey’s shoulders, knowing what she was implying.
Then Chad spoke, “I selected Carlos de Vil, because he has been at the mercy of that cruel woman for years, who knows what she did to him, we all know what she tried doing to the Radcliffe family. Anita and Roger also have expressed an interest in adopting him if he wanted them to. We would just have to be careful in exposing him to any kind of dog, big little or in between.” He looks at his notes. “He has a cat, maybe we could look into making the cat his emotional support animal.”
Aricka spoke up after her twin, “We all know I’ve been having dreams lately… dreams about a boy who is my True Love…” they all nodded. “I’m choosing Harry Hook, as he is the boy in my dream. However. My official reasoning for selecting him is that he has sisters as well, and in order for them to come they need to see that Harry is good, and I know he is. In my dreams he is nothing but sweet and kind and earnest, but he hides it under a mask of anger and rage and vengeance. If we get him away from his father’s influence he should thrive.”
“I’ve selected Uma Nautica, daughter of Ursula. She is a fierce leader and Ariel has also expressed an interest in getting to know her cousin, as Ursula is Ariel’s aunt. Melody and I both chose her as our pick, as she is from the Wharf side of the Isle and would know which of those children we should bring over as well.” That was Jane.
Lonnie was next, “I selected the only VK who was given special permission to leave the Isle six months out of the year to live with her stepmother Persephone; Aricka Kore Page. She will be able to help us help her fellow VKs acclimate and adjust to being in Auradon as she knows more of how things work over here, and she can also aide in the selection processes.”
“I chose Azalea Ixoria,” Sebastian White drawls, having sent Lonnie one of his dazzling white smiles, as Aricka Kore Page was also his girlfriend. “Daughter of a florist turned royal jeweler for the Queen of Hearts, one of the lesser villains on the Isle.”
Then came the one they were all most anxious to mention. “I have chosen Gilbert Legume,” Doug says. “Son of Gaston. Belle of all people should feel sympathetic for him, she knows just how toxic Gaston was, and we can use her sympathy to convince her to help us help Gil. He’s just a child, he deserves a chance. Just like any of them.”
They all nod, knowing they would have to have Gil be mentioned last, hating that he might be the only not able to be included this first wave just because he was born to Belle and Adam’s worst enemy.
“We can’t worry about that right now,” Ben pushes on. “We simply must make the proposal and then mention the children we want to come over in the first wave. These kids are the main players on the Isle. If we get the leaders over here: they can help us help their crew. We can get them to see that good really is worth it all.”
Murmurs of assent are heard, Jane Darling dutifully taking notes of the proceedings. “After the VK Isle Reformation Proclamation has been in place for a while, we will then move on to the Magical Creatures and Persons Act, allowing those born with magic or those who have been chosen to learn magic to be allowed to practice their arts in peace, much like the Northuldra in Arendalle do, or the people of Camelot.”
“We can restore the Moors to its original beauty,” Audrey says, remembering her mother’s stories of how beautiful it had once been.
“And we can work on getting homes for the VKs who were orphaned or who don’t want their villain parent to be their parents anymore,” Aricka added.
“Hear, hear,” Chad said. “We already have several parents interested- including Lathyn Baker; mine and Aricka’s aunt Anastasia’s husband. He’s eager to have his 19 year old son, Anthony, back home.”
“So it’s settled,” Ben says, and suddenly they could all see a glimpse of the future king he was to be. “I will make our proclamation known to my parents, and after that we will begin working on invitations for the future transfer students.”
They dispersed with hugs and plans to meet up for homework finalizations or for meals or just to hang out together, and Ben went to his own room to prepare for the most nerve wracking conversation of his life.

Ben assembled his council again, and when they all met in the secret room as usual they were met with a very exuberant and excited Prince Benjamin. “So,” he begins with a wild grin on his face. “Who’s ready to finalize the preparations for our new guests?”

Reasons Why I like it
While at first I thought this was a difficult matchup to play, I've acquired few cards that have really helped to make my lineups easier. Limiting your options to only arrows simplifies to rules and the car to play. Those cards with close range, reducing my opponents attack, or adding return fire are clearly going to be keys. Plus any cards that have both melee, magic and arrows will be a big focus

Rulesets
It's hard to believe it is one of the rare one rule set matches, I feel like most of my matches in diamond League have been three rule sets.
Mana
33 man I will leave plenty of room to pick and fill out a full team. It will allow plenty of options and it is not going to be too restrictive
Splinters
I think that while each splinter available has its benefits, typically it will be life to add an arrow attack, death to subtract one, or maybe Earth for close range
Summoner ILTHAIN
My recent go to move for all close range matches is to give all of my monsters returned fire. Dealing back damage every time I receive it it's just been too powerful
First Position VENARI MARKSRAT
Well I got to start off by giving dry bone radar a boost to start to match. Well I will be losing it's arrow attacks the double melee strike is going to be welcomed
Second Position DRYBONE RAIDER
One of the rare cards that speaks through enjoying the distance because of it's melee and hero attack.
Third Position ANACHRON BOLTER
Also given the chance to have a magic and an aero attacking card is a benefit not to mention the fact that it has headwinds and will reduce my enemies attack by One
Fourth Position VENARI CRYSTALSMITH
Might as well add a tank heel if I can to help my card's last as long as possible.
Fifth Position XENITH ARCHER
Picked it really because I had two men left and this one was gold foil
Opponent Lineup & Match Play
Summoner GENERAL SLOAN
Not excited to feel level 8 rare summoner but it is what it is. They'll get a plus one boost on their attacks
ANACHRON BOLTER
One of the two cars not maxed, but it also has headwinds just like I do. It's a pretty solid play and can attack in first position since it has magic
PELACOR ARBALEST
When are the heaviest hitting cards double strike with three or four arrows attacks is going to be a lot of damage
VENARI CRYSTALSMITH
Great minds think alike they also wanted a tank healer
PRISMOLOGIST
I like this place since it has splash damage, it will be doing either for 5 damage with three and splash damage
XENITH ARCHER
Another card not maxed but it's got the same stats that mine has accepted one less health.
Round 1
Round one starts off and dry bone it gets a boost as Markscrat who's the first card eliminated. Luckily it doesn't miss a turn and it quickly secures and knock out of anachron bolter. This is great news as it has moved pellicore horrible list in the first position where it cannot do any damage to my cards. Passed around progresses the return fire is starting to make itself known and it is producing health and eliminating armor.
Round 2
Round two starts off and I'm feeling pretty good, I get another knockout with tribe on the radar and they have now lost pellicore arborist, and are close to losing Crystal Smith. Once again return fire is wreaking his havoc as prismologist is taking back half of the damage it's dealing out and it is significantly weakening my opponents lineup and chances. As the round comes to an end I still have dry bone radar in place and look to be cruising towards a victory
Round 3
Thoughts - and Chances to Win Again
I think dry bone raider had a massive impact on this match and it will be continued to be one of my favorite cards to use. I also think the return fire help to hasten the elimination of my enemy. I think my anime could have used a better card in first position to potentially help have a stronger tank but I'm not sure what cards they have available. I think the combination of dry bone raiders Plus giving all my monsters returned fire in going the distance has been a recipe for success. It's almost a cheat code to hurt your enemy every time I hit you plus having a double strike melee card to start the match to chew through their tank. I am feeling intended to keep running the same lineup every chance I get in going the distance until the mana gets down to 13 where I'll switch it up and go with fire.

Here's another view of Zero, this time from behind. I'm getting refs ready for ArtFight.
Let's discuss the most notable feature here, which is the crystal crowbar. Zero used to use a hammer similar to Mjolnir, but was robbed of it after being knocked out one time. She returns to the crystalsmith who made the hammer, but they said they only had enough deepflake and vaporite to make a crowbar. Zero was fine with that and now uses the crowbar as a weapon.

Exciting News!
The wife and I have decided that we are going to be signing up to be a vendor at a Sci-Fi and Fantasy Expo that is going to be happening at the end of April in our area. We’ve already started talking about everything we’re going to be needing and costs of everything, have already gotten in touch with the man that runs the event, and all together vibrating in a sense! I’ve already started putting together a cosplay for it, honestly. I’m going to be going as the “Crystalsmith”, which is the persona I use for the business. Whereas the wife is going to be going as the “Apprentice”, which is what she labeled herself as since she has been learning resin crafting from me. (yes, it’s an expense, but the payoff we’re hoping is worth it... AND it gets the name of the business out there. And if all goes well we will also be signing up for a Ren Fair during the summer!)
This is really big for us! In my mind, it really solidifies that our small business is growing, that we’re committed to this! We’re going to be adding a few new products as well to the store... like magic potions and hopefully potion dice rollers!
If any of you are con/expo vendor veterans, and are willing to give advice, we’d love to hear it! Any and all help people could give us would be wonderful! I’d love to hear other peoples’ experiences in how they prepare for their cons/expos!

Reasons Why I like it
This is one of the new rule sets that I'm still figuring out. The five alive rule set along with the one that limits only four cars available make some of my decision making a bit harder. Sometimes it forces a combination of higher mana cards and it certainly makes it hard to use boosts like martyr, or tank heel as you are reducing your attackers in a trade-off for a healer and with fewer units the impact feels greater.

Initial Rule Set and Mana Gameplay Thoughts
Rulesets
Five cards for 45 mana means that they can be an average of nine a piece. I'm not sure it will have too big of an impact since I can basically pick any cards I want minus those 13 to 16 meta cards. Combining this with going to distance makes it difficult as now I can only use aero cards. My options to balance out attack cards as well as some sort of defensive healing is going to be tricky.
Mana
Mana isn't really in play here other than I get to pick whatever High man of cards I want as I doubt there are enough cards that are 10 plus that are only arrows.
Splinters
Go to splinter for me is going to be life so that I can have return fire and all my monsters. There are great arguments to be made for every other splinter as you can reduce arrow attacks for both death and dragon, give everyone close up on Earth, and water also has the ability to boost arrow attacks. Likely I think it'll be dragon and life with the biggest usage
Summoner ILTHAIN
If everyone's forced to be using arrow attacks, then I want to use that return fire to help drag their health down each turn. Nice part is return fire doesn't miss it doesn't factor in speed differential, flying, Dodge or anything else it's a great way to get guaranteed damage every time they attack
First Position DRYBONE RAIDER
Almost feels like cheating but it does have arrow attack. Well it's not going to be used in first position a double strike with melee is always great and it does come with three armor to protect its limited seven health
Second Position COMMANDER GOFF
Wanted this one's second since it has huge 7 armor and seven health along with a 4-speed and dodge. I'm hoping that they can generate a miss or two. It's a shame to use it as my second card since it is likely my heaviest hitter and most likely to hit. It's an equal trade-off though for the protection it might give me
Third Position ANACHRON BOLTER
Since almost every card is going to be arranged aero based, I really wanted to get headwinds in my lineup. This will help bring their attack down and bring the return fire closer to a one-to-one damage ratio
Fourth Position VENARI CRYSTALSMITH
If it has both arrows and tank Hill then it's always going to be in no matter the mana cost. Sure I could have one that has higher damage but healing a card and making it live longer to dish out more return fire is more important
Fifth Position PRISMOLOGIST
A bit of a gamble if they also played the same summoner but I like having a little splash damage if it can connect. I can start to drain the health on two different cards
Opponent Lineup & Match Play
Summoner QUIX THE DEVIOUS
No surprise here, reducing my speed and my aero attacks is a no-brainer.
QUEEN OF CROWS
Great tank card, and even better in this format. 11 health is huge plus it has close range so it can attack from the front row
SUPPLY RUNNER
Another solid card that I don't play as often as I think I would. Great speed decent health in attack
FUNIC SKYCLAW
One of the best dragon range cards. It's got snipe with tremendous speed damage armor and flying overall it is a juggernaut.
DHAMPIR STALKER
True strike, who doesn't love a guaranteed hit every single round. It's speed means it's also likely to go in the middle somewhere of the attack
RAVENHOOD WARDEN
Well he's probably not being used for attack, the extra armor it provides will help keep everyone on the board longer
Round 1
Round one starts off and right away return fire starts to chip away at that extra armor they got. Outside of that I don't think any attacks for either team missed so it was a pretty straightforward round.
Round 2
I think I got a slight upper hand by the end of round one. Well we're both likely to lose our initial tank cards this round it is still slightly favored towards me. After I get healed by Crystal smith, dry bone raider is able to secure the second knockout of the round and really crippled their team. Having that double strike melee card on the front is critical in these matches
Round 3
Round three starts with a Miss for me, having a flying dragon card with six speed is going to be difficult to hit. I think over half of my attacks missed this round, but they're only doing three damage to drive on radar so it is going to stick around for another round.
Round 4
Ground floor starts off better for me, I get a knockout of sky claw. That pretty much spells the end in this round. This is quickly followed by another knockout of Dhampir stalker and then Raven Warden.
Thoughts - and Chances to Win Again
The two biggest impacts I think we're having dry bone radar in first position for a double strike melee which gives an advantage when most cards are arrow attacks. The second biggest advantage was having returned fire on all of the cards. That return fire is guaranteed damage back to help get through some of the armor before they moved up to first position. Luckily the five alive didn't have too big of an impact since we got lucky with the high mana cost of 45. Things could have been much different if magic and melee cards were added into the mix and things could have been a bit more spicy. I think I'm going to continue to focus on return fire and drive on radar on the doing the distance rule sets, while finding some way to get a healing card in in rulesets that limit how many cards you can use like five alive or lower.
