The owner of De Rock Club in Ibadan, Adepoju Sunday, alias SSG was on Wednesday, March 29, arraigned before Justice Uche Agomoh of the Federal High Court sitting in Oyo State. Spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Wilson Uwajuren said Adepoju was arrested on August 31, 2022, alongside 21 other suspected internet fraudsters, in an intelligence-driven operation carried out by the operatives of its Ibadan Zonal Command. He was arrested with a 2020 Range Rover HSE Sports Utility Vehicle, an iPhone 13 Pro Max and Hp laptop, among others. The anti-graft agency said the defendant was arraigned on two separate charges for his alleged involvement in cybercrime and obtaining money under false pretense to the tune of N31,821,000. The first charge, containing eight counts, bordered on identity theft, obtaining COVID–19 and unemployment benefits from the United States of America Government, while the other 19 counts are premised on transfer of proceeds of crime to one Owoade David. Investigations revealed that Adepoju, 36, who claimed to be a graduate of Industrial Chemistry of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Osun State had, during the COVID–19 pandemic allegedly swindled the American government and unsuspecting American citizens thousands of dollars. The defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ when the charges were read to him. Consequently, the prosecution counsel, Mabas Mabur asked the court for a trial date and that the suspect be remanded pending the determination of the case. Counsel to the defendant, Olaniyi George, informed the court that he has filed two separate bail applications on behalf of his client and prayed the court to grant the defendant bail. Mabur told the court to reject the applications on the grounds that the defendant is a flight risk who has pending charges against him in other law courts. Justice Agomoh thereafter adjourned the matter till April 18 for ruling and ordered that the defendant be remanded in the Agodi Correctional facility. #efcc #derockclub #adepojusunday #mycelebrityandi https://www.instagram.com/p/CqZ5v9Uo0N0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

U.S increases visa application fee from March 30 . . The U.S. government has announced an increment for its non-migrant visa application fee effective from March 30. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria, which said this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, disclosed that the increases were published in the Federal Register on March 28. According to the U.S. government, the changes is in line with the Department of State’s commitment to facilitating legitimate travel to the United States for both immigrant and nonimmigrant travellers. “The Department of State published a Final Rule regarding increases to certain non-immigrant visa application (NIV) processing fees and the Border Crossing Card (BCC) for Mexican citizens age 15 and over. “These increases were published in the Federal Register on March 28, 2023 and will be effective on May 30, 2023. “The fee for visitor visas for business or tourism (B1/B2s and BCCs), and other non-petition based NIVs such as student and exchange visitor visas, will increase from 160 dollars to 185 dollars,” it stated. The mission said that the fee for certain petition-based non-immigrant visas for temporary workers (H, L, O, P, Q, and R categories) would increase from 190 dollars to 205 dollars. “The fee for a treaty trader, treaty investor, and treaty applicants in a specialty occupation (E category) will increase from 205 dollars to 315 dollars. NIV fees are set based on the actual cost of providing NIV services and are determined after conducting a study of the cost of these services “The Department uses an Activity-Based Costing (ABC) methodology to calculate, annually, the cost of providing consular services, including visa services. “The fees for most non-petition based NIVs were last updated in 2012, and certain other NIV fees were last updated in 2014,” it stated. According to the mission, other consular fees are not affected by this rule, including the waiver of the two-year residency required fee for certain exchange visitors. #usvisa #visafee #nigeria #mycelebrityandi https://www.instagram.com/p/CqZ3vOvI3dz/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

US recovers $53m ‘proceeds of illicitly awarded contracts’ involving Diezani, Aluko, Omokore The US department of justice has announced the final resolution of two civil cases seeking the forfeiture of the luxury assets that were laundered in and through the country in a case involving #diezanialisonmadueke former minister of petroleum resources, and her associates. Diezani’s associates who were named in the forfeiture case are #kolaaluko a Nigerian businessman, and #jideomokore chairman of Atlantic Energy Drilling Concepts Nigeria Limited. The department said the forfeited assets were the “proceeds of foreign corruption offenses”. In a statement released on its website on Monday, the US department of justice disclosed that “roughly $53.1 million in cash, plus a promissory note with a principal value of $16 million” have been recovered as part of “proceeds of illicitly awarded contracts” involving the trio — Diezeani, Aluko, and Omokore. “According to court documents, from 2011 to 2015, Nigerian businessmen Kolawole Akanni Aluko and Olajide Omokore conspired with others to pay bribes to Nigeria’s former minister for petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, who oversaw Nigeria’s state-owned oil company,” the statement reads. “In return, Alison-Madueke used her influence to steer lucrative oil contracts to companies owned by Aluko and Omokore. The proceeds of those illicitly awarded contracts totaling more than $100 million were then laundered in and through the United States and used to purchase various assets through shell companies, including luxury real estate in California and New York as well as the Galactica Star, a 65-meter superyacht. “The real estate was also used as collateral for loans to Aluko and shell companies he controlled. As part of the forfeiture process, those lien holders were paid.” #scam #nigeria #mycelebrityandi https://www.instagram.com/p/CqXkoQwLw8h/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Adnan Syed's murder conviction is reinstated months after he was freed Maryland's appeals court reinstated Adnan Syed's murder conviction Tuesday, roughly six months after Baltimore prosecutors provided new evidence in the 1999 killing of Hae Min Lee. Syed, whose conviction was made famous by the podcast "Serial," was released from prison in October after Baltimore City State Attorney Marilyn Mosby said DNA evidence supported his innocence. Lee's family had filed an appeal, arguing that they were not properly notified of the efforts to release Syed last year. The Maryland appeals court ruled in their favor, saying officials failed to provide sufficient notice for Lee's family to attend the hearing. A new hearing will be held about the evidence to vacate Syed's conviction; the previous murder charges have been reinstated in the interim. Tuesday's decision and the new hearing are seen as a procedural issue, and there is no reason to believe Syed will be sent back to prison. The prosecutor has indicated that there is evidence pointing to other suspects and that the investigation continues. Lee's family said they were delighted with the court's decision. “We are equally pleased that the Appellate Court is directing the lower court to conduct a transparent hearing where the evidence will be presented in open court and the court’s decision will be based on evidence for the world to see," the family said in a statement. #adnansyed #haeminlee #murder #mycelebrityandi https://www.instagram.com/p/CqW09C3ImjS/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Eva Marcille Divorces Michael Sterling Following 4 Years of Marriage The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, 38, filed for divorce from the lawyer on March 23, stating that their marriage is "irretrievably broken," according to documents obtained by PEOPLE. "This has been one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, but sometimes life takes your journey in a direction you were not expecting," Marcille tells PEOPLE exclusively. "Our children remain our biggest priority and the eight and half years we have spent together will always be cherished. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time." The pair married on Oct. 7, 2018, and "are currently living in a bona fide state of separation," Marcille's attorneys wrote in the filing. They share three children: son 4-year-old Michael Sterling, Jr., whom they welcomed in 2018 and Maverick Sterling, 3. Sterling is also a father figure to Marcille's daughter Marley Rae from her previous relationship with ex Kevin McCall. The former America's Next Top Model winner and The Young & the Restless actress is seeking legal and primary custody of their children and child support as well as support with "care and maintenance" and medical costs. Marcille wants the court to award her "equitable division" of the assets she and Sterling gained during their marriage, as well as her own separate property. She wants their debt to be "equitably divided" too. #evamercille #michaelsterling #divorce #rhoa #realitystar #mycelebrityandi https://www.instagram.com/p/CqWwNdkIE0q/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
