Finally made it to @craftdonutscoffee . Decided to grab a half dozen. As many people have mentioned they tend to sell out of donuts pretty quickly. My friend and I arrived about 8am on a Saturday and the entire selection of Vegan and Gluten Free donuts were sold out. The line was long but it didn’t bother us. They were doing a good job moving along. I also got their Nitro Coffee which I did enjoy. My fiends light roast was a bit over done. Pictured here is the Maple Chai Donut. I also tried the Vanilla Bean and Pistachio Rose. All of them seems to have the same plain donut base. The base itself was not impressive. The flavors seem to focus on toppings. The icing is way to sweet for me. There was no detectable rose flavor in the Pistachio Rose. The Chai I could taste a little but again it was so sweet I couldn’t keep eating. Overall I think the retail space was beautiful, great location, the staff were kind, they just need a better donut base. No matter the toppings if the base doesn’t shine on its own the overall donut experience suffers. Makes me think of the analogy “pig in lipstick.” This just wasn’t for me. I am glad to have tried it and love that our area is expanding to include such unique craft experiences. With that said my 4yr old likes the chocolate with sprinkles.
