A short furred ticked russet tom with pale green eyes, Quiveringheart was first named for his weak body and weaker immune-system. The first moon of Quiveringkit’s life was spent in the healer’s den being monitored and attended to as his breathing regularly faltered in his sleep. Eventually his lungs became stronger, his gaze clearer and he was freed from the medic’s den. The clan had been under the impression that Quiveringkit would eventually become a model ShadowClan warrior when he survived where his sister didn’t. They were immediately disappointed when the russet tom never became what they wanted.
He’s very anxious and guilt-stricken, believing most truly that he’s the reason for his parents splitting up as a kit. He feels immense pressure from his father to be a good warrior to be proud of. One of the most heartbreaking events of his life was his father turning away from him, choosing to step back from his life even after he turned six moons old. Quiveringpaw was forced to listen to the whispers and rumors the clan created about him and the scathing remarks that he was what happened when a father shirked his duty to his kits.
His life only started really looking up when he officially moved into the apprentice's den. He was already vaguely familiar with his old denmates but he only became super close to Marrowpaw and Thistlepaw when he started training as a crafter. It was like he gained a brother and a sister overnight, two cats willing to protect him from the whispers and the rumors no matter what. To top it all off, his mentor - Sunstone - turned out to be one of the nicest cats he'd ever met. She was patient, gentle and kind; uncaring when he stammeringly asked questions and guided his paws through weaving.
Quiveringheart has a powerful metabolism that keeps him from gaining much weight - he rarely if ever puts on even a thin layer of fat. This would seem like just a minor point except it affects every aspect of his life - without a fat layer, all impacts when fighting hurt much more and have higher chances of thoroughly injuring him. He’s always at least vaguely hungry, there’s almost never enough food in the clan for him to feel full. When he was younger, some of the older cats shamed him for constantly eating so now he overcompensates in the opposite direction, frequently starving himself so as not to take food from more deserving cats.

What are your thoughts on the name "Sorrelcharm?" From what I remember that was Sorrelshine's original name proposed in missing kits before the canonical one was confirmed.
"Charm" is such a cute suffix, it's a shame they didn't go with it. I understand wanting to make suffixes more "standardized" and making notable personalities fall under Shine, but come on. Sorrelcharm sounds like a cereal, we deserved that energy in our lives
I'm considering letting Sorrelcharm be an honor title, for being a fantastic craftcat. It would be "charm" as in "small token of luck"
Speaking of Sorrelcharm though, I wish Onestar's Concussion had given out the names of Whitetail's siblings, I need them for my tree :/ I currently have them marked down as "Unnamed Kits."
I'm also scraping the BOTTOM of the barrel, I'm using the 3 unnamed WindClan cats from Fire and Ice to give people some siblings. So... I'm going to have to name them at some point.

April 18, 2022- California Dreaming One Craft At A Time
This past April, I was able to experience an event I have wanted to attend for the past three years. I packed my bag, drove to the airport and headed to California. I didn’t know a soul there, but I knew I was going to spend a week with my tribe.
I went to Craftcation in Ventura, California!
Craftcation Business and Makers Conference is an annual event for creatives and small-business owners. The five-day conference was held on April 6-10, 2022 at the Ventura Beach Marriott and included over 200 craft workshops, business classes, expert-led panels, wellness workshops, field trips and social events. Attendees enjoy learning new skills as well as networking with fellow creatives and industry professionals.
In a press release before the event, Nicole Stevenson, CEO and Creative Director of Dear Handmade Life, said, “My desire to help other creatives pursue their dream business and discover the joy of making led me away from my own handmade business and into teaching, consulting, running my own studio and eventually co-founding Dear Handmade Life in 2007. Now, I connect, educate and shorten the learning curve for other creatives by sharing what I’ve learned through Craftcation and other DHL events. It’s been a genuine joy to see Craftcation grow over the years and I’m so excited for its return in 2022.”
When I read their belief statements, I felt like I had found people that understood what it meant to take the path not traveled. From their website, their core values are:

That purpose can crush comparison.
That “normal” is overrated and weird is wondrous.
We are all in this journey together.
Mistakes are part of the process.
Your passion can be your profession.
Supporting art is a necessity- not a luxury.

After a couple plane rides, a slow shuttle, a missed train and a long Uber ride, I made it to the Marriott hotel. I met my roommate and promptly crashed. Jet Lag was real!
The next few days truly were a paradise of craft. One thing Craftcation prides itself on is it offers opportunities for people to try a variety of craft with no or very little cost. That way, you aren’t investing a lot of money for something you may not like. I found out that I really liked ice dying, but I don’t like watercolor or collage. I also remembered that I love everything bling and would be happy to rhinestone anything as long as it sat still long enough.
Aside from craft classes, there were so many business workshops! I sat in on a lunch session with Ana from Hustle Takes Heart with the topic being how to craft your story. This was a fast paced two hour presentation on how to tailor who you are as a crafter to potential clients- or, if a person doesn’t have clients, how they would want the world to see them. It was so good and I am looking forward to working with them in the future.
I was able to attend an event put on by fabric.com and we were able to give feedback on their website and what changes we would like for a better customer experience. Bonus—we got free fabric for attending!
The best part of Craftcation? It was the people! I met so many new people and felt I came home with a bushel of new friends. While we had to take some precautions for Covid, we were able to spend time together and share the love of craft. Truly, creativity is something that binds us all together.
On the business front, I was able to talk to Creativebug about their affiliate program, made some connections with Quilts of Valor, scheduled a followup call for Amazon Handmade, plus so much more.
As I sit here back in cold, rainy Appalachia, I’m already dreaming about Craftcation 2023. If you are a creative, or just love making things, make Craftcation top of your bucket list.

Clan Names - Additional Notes
Spruce and Conifer are more common with the lakeside territories than with the forest territories. Pine and Fir are more common to the forest clans. Mostly based on location of growing.

Number Based Names are more common when there’s a specific name in mind - usually the clans only use up to the number four.

Drift is a common suffix for the Escorts of WindClan but also for lakeside RiverClan warriors

Lightning is also used by ThunderClan for those who are struck by lightning and survive. It’s a very honorable suffix and these survivors are considered blessed by Sunsoul.

The meaning of Cloud- changes based on what kind of cloud the cat is named after. A dark gray cloud means headstrong and determined - it’s a workaround of storm-. Meanwhile a white cloud implies happiness or gentle emotions.

All the clans have pet names for the apprentices of other clans; Maggotpaw (ShadowClan), Minnowpaws (RiverClan), Bunnypaws (WindClan), Fawnpaws (ThunderClan), Chickpaws (SkyClan).

Burrow is a common tunneler suffix. Burrowers is a nicer term to refer to the tunnelers of WindClan.

Mud and Muck are often used for Murkers in ShadowClan and within RiverClan, as the name for craftcats. Muckypaws are the titles of both clans’ new apprentices (murker and apprentices) who have just gotten into the messier parts of their jobs.

RiverClan often uses the borrowed word Kolu- as an alternative to Echo- for their kits.

The Special Ranks within the clans are Boreal, Moth, Shark, Anaconda and Raptor. The affix -chant refers to their knowledge of prayers. Cinderpaw’s name could therefore be Cinderchant; acknowledging her new position. There are clan specific staples from the Old Tongue for each rank;

With Bite vs. Snap vs. Nip; Bite is the most common variant is straightforward. Nip is often for those who are cheeky or mischievous while Snap refers to cats who are sarcastic or dry in tone.

The Beaver is a common RiverClan title for the most skilled craftscat. In ShadowClan; they’re called the Tarantula; in ThunderClan they’re raccoons; and in WindClan they’re called…

Ladybug-/Ladybird- doubles to mean, “predator” or “hunter” on the down-low given how pretty they are despite the fact that they demolish aphids.

Speckle vs. Freckle has freckle- giving the implications of facial spots while speckle is more body-wide

The name Lost- is often taking up following traumatic events as a sign that the cat has managed to escape the fear and terror associated with the events. The name Lostfire for example could mean a cat who suffered from a fire is finally moving on.

The clans refuse to use the names of the founders as prefixes within their own clans. ShadowClan cannot use Shadow-, RiverClan will not use River-, SkyClan won’t use Sky-, ThunderClan won’t use Thunder- and WindClan won’t use Wind-.
Using the words as suffixes is perfectly fine however; SkyClan won’t have a cat named Skytalon but they’re fine with naming a cat Eveningsky. A founder’s suffix is an honorable thing to be proud of within the clans.

Many names in this list have doubled names where the words mean the same thing, but one name implies maturity while the other implies childishness. Here are the doubled names;

Birds of prey are extremely popular names in SkyClan - some suspect it's due to Kitesong's own name, but there's evidence that Old SkyClan also had a fondness for them. SkyClan takes hostage most of the more unusual raptor names;
Falcon -> Merlin
Kestrel -> Hobby
Kite -> Harrier
Buzzard -> Vulture
In the same vein, ShadowClan takes claim to the most unusual snake names (Kait, Cobra, Boa, Anaconda) and RiverClan hyperspecific fish names.
