The reader who has been abstracted but somehow recovered from it and everyone's reaction to the reader returning from it.

This really peaked my interst so I knew I just had to write it!

Pain, fear, and anger were all you could feel when you were abstracted, in your newly twisted and corrupted mind the only two things you were able to do seem to be attacking and running

You were chasing your “prey” down the hall and into the main room when another sharp pain went through your body as you let out a whine and fell to the ground

You let out more small whines as your body once again changed this time though it was your original form

Caine

His reaction when you first transformed back was pretty calm claiming it was “all part of my plan” though in truth he was the most confused

After a bit he came to the conclusion that you were able to transform back by something specific in the code of your body that others didn’t have

So expect him popping up randomly to try and take samples, which happens at least once per day

After he got what he thought could be used to turn the other abstracted back to normal he tried to use it… it didn’t work for long and he had a large mess to clean afterwards

After that he went back to normal though would still sometimes try to take samples, became a fun pastime for him

Kinger

You thought he was on edge before? Well now he’s even more on edge

At first he tries to avoid you, he never seen anyone returned back from being abstracted how was he supposed to know you wouldn’t transform back

It took a few months for him to few comfortable standing next to you, let alone going on adventures with you

If you two were dating before then expect the complete opposite

After losing Queenie when she abstracted he didn’t know what to do, even more so when you returned back to normal

Very clingy not wanting to risk losing his lover again

Pomni

She didn’t know what to think at first, you had been a huge help and comforted her when she first came here

She also thought you were by far the most sane, she was proven wrong

It just so happened that she was one of the few going to check in on you when they had found your abstracted self, not very good luck for her

You were the first person she actually knew who had gotten abstracted before she could run away without a thought of who it was before, but she knew you, this was someone she cared about

When you returned to normal she didn’t know what to do then, she was also hesitant about being around you not out of fear though but because she just couldn’t believe it was true

She was very quick to warm up again though do expect her to ask if you're okay a lot 

If you two were dating before then she blames herself for you abstracting even if it wasn’t the case

As well with asking you if your okay expect her to give you small gifts 

Gangle

One of the others who had found you, had to be pulled away or else she would have probably stayed standing there crying

She couldn’t do much as many thoughts were going through her mind all coming out in sobs

When you returned to normal she was still sobbing but was also the first one to make sure you were okay

She decides to put up the whole you being abstracted to her imagination, it would be more believable than you abstracting and then just returning back to normal

I picture that even if you two didn’t have the best relationship she would have nightmares about your abstraction

If you two were dating then be prepared for her not sleeping at all since she doesn't need it and everytime she does she get nightmares she takes it out of her schedule 

expect a lot more cuddles then before, she wants to be as close together as she can with you afterwards

Jax

He was the last of the group who found you, he didn’t believe it, he couldn’t

As he ran away pulling Gangle with him he tried to tell himself that this wasn’t real, the abstracted being wasn’t you

When you returned to normal he was hesitant to tease you or prank you

He still did of course but it was a lot less often then before and with all the others

Will often go into your room if you’re in there or not, mainly to make sure you’re okay

If you two were in a relationship he becomes a lot more protective of you

Like a lot more protective, you be lucky if he wasn’t right by your side

Ragatha

When she had heard you were abstracted she couldn’t believe it, she ran to where you were seeing you right before you went back to normal

She froze her mind racing as she felt numb, until Gangle brought her back when asking you if your okay

When she get back to her senses she ran up and hugged you and kept asking if you’re okay

Many checkups to make sure you’re okay

Feels awful for not noticing the signs feeling like she should have seen them

If you two are in a relationship then she blames herself for your abstraction 

Many small gifts

Zooble 

Was the only one who didn’t see you when you were abstracted 

Was panicked and confused when they heard what had happened 

She didn’t really change much other then being nicer to you

Inside though he was cursing himself out for not doing more

If the two of you were in a relationship then expect them to care a lot more 

Tbh Zooble was the hardest one for me so I have the least for them, but yeah sorry this took a bit didn't have a lot of time to write today

I have a request for the tdac characters to fall in love with child reader(platonically) and basically be attached to them like their younger sibling figure, and now imagine the reader starts to slowly get insane in some way and abstracts, and they just watch in horror as they see their practically younger sibling abstract and taken away to the black hole(I forgot what its called), and they get out of character, I need some angst and out of character mfs

Now I have done multiple things on this type of idea so it's probs gonna be really similar to some of my past works. I'll still do my best though. For future reference in requesting please specify if you want a oneshot or headcannons. I did a little of both for this one but it was tiring, so please specify.

TADC Crew x Child Reader Who Abstracts

You were by far the youngest in the Digital Circus. Out of everyone you actually enjoyed it there, it was colorful, safe, had plenty of things to do. And had people who actually cared about you. It was a place of respite for you after you're awful family. Well awful isn't the right word they weren't abusive or anything. Just neglectful. Caine was a lot like a weird uncle to you. Always had some kind of gift for you when he saw you and despite what he says you know he cares about you. You were just about the only person who genuinely enjoyed his little adventures and jokes so he ended up getting kind of attached to you. As much as an AI could at least.

Gangle more often then not wasn't around you. She didn't avoid you or anything but she didn't go out of her way to be around you. One time when her mask broke and you saw her crying you went to Caine to ask if she was ok. He explained as best he could to you that she isn't really sad, just her mask broke. So you asked Caine to help you fix it. A few hours later you're at Gangle's door with a fixed mask in a present box. Once she saw that you of all people, the youngest one here went out of your way to help her she started to warm up to you.

Zooble most definitely didn't enjoy being around you Lies. She always acted like you annoyed her and she wanted to be anywhere else. But the few times you two have been alone she's surprisingly nice. She taught you how to make a paper hat one time then for the next few weeks you were never seen without one on.

Kinger took on a much more loving approach with you. He saw you as young and in danger and with no one to guide you. And if you were just left alone Jax would probably swoop in like a vulture and corrupt you. So he half took you in and did his best to raise you and teach you. It was hard as their isn't anything for learning in the circus but he did his best. It annoys him to no end when he hears a censored word come from you only to learn that Zooble's been teaching you swears behind his back.

Ragatha did her best with Kinger to raise you so you had some kind of future ahead of yourself. Despite the fact that they no one ages they still want you to be prepared. She took on a very "over protective older sister" kind of way with you. You're young, weak, and gullible so she's constantly worrying about you. Enough for her to set up a bed for you in her room. Plus side is she'll read you bedtime stories.

Jax's sole goal since he found out Kinger and Ragatha were teaching you and keeping you away from him is to taint you. Whenever you're left alone he kind of just appears and offers you something fun to do with him so you'll follow him. He has fed so many lies to your malleable young brain. Like "Hey kid. Did'ja know that Ragatha loves centipedes? I actually caught one earlier today. Why don'cha give it to er?" so naturally you did. You got grounded for that. Pomni is the one you feel closest too. You're innocent and kind nature help her keep calm(er). And her being around your height makes you feel more comfortable around her so you're always seen dragging her around to do something silly. You help her look for the exit, kind of. Your different way of seeing the world has helped her find many things out though. Did you know that their's a secret building at the bottom of the the digital lake? She only found it cause you mentioned said something about Atlantis while swimming then proceeded to dive under the water scaring her.

All of them started to get worried when your usual energetic and optimistic self started to act tired, all the time. Even someone as at your age who seems to be the perfect fit isn't immune to the problems the circus has it seems. When you started to get depressed it freaked Ragatha out causing her to be more strict with you because she didn't want to see you hurt. That only made it worse though. None of them take you abstracting well. Even Jax, despite being a jerk he ended up getting kind of attached to you. Cause no matter how mean he was you were always nice to him. "Wonder if their still causing chaos in the afterlife..." Caine being the ring master was always trying to cheer everyone up and get their mind off you but it never really worked. It slightly affected him too, not because he was attached to you. But because you were so young... "Couldn't even keep a kid alive..." Ragatha after losing you would either lock herself in her room staring at your old bed trying to decide on if she should or shouldn't take it down. It the only thing she has left to remember you by. You had your whole life ahead of you. But she ended up not being able to help. Just like with all those others... "Is it even worth the effort at this point. Am I even helping..." Kinger had already lost Queenie his S/O... Now you, the one he was actually starting to see as his kid. That is what pushed him over the deep end. You two his family, both abstracted. At least he'll get too see you two again... "I'll be there soon love, just have to grab Y/N's books..."

AU Time

Basically the AU is that Pomni is evil and corrupted everyone once she joined The Amazing Digital Circus, however Ragatha was immune (hence why she's not pictured here, her design would not change.) Pomni is the new ring leader, however Caine is "co-ringleader" (this means nothing, she just calls him that to make him happy.

And yes, they can swear now.

ℙ𝕆𝕄ℕ𝕀 - (𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝕄𝕐𝕊𝕋𝔼ℝ𝕀𝕆𝕌𝕊 𝔽𝔸𝕃𝕃𝔼ℕ 𝔾𝕀ℝ𝕃) : A terrified girl who tumbled through a hole into Wonderland. Pomni is completely focused on figuring out how to return home, even though she is completely forgetful of her name and past life. Locating The Eyes Of Wonder is the first step toward escaping.

ℝ𝔸𝔾𝔸𝕋ℍ𝔸 - (𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝔹𝕃𝕆𝕆𝕄𝕀ℕ𝔾 𝔻𝕆𝕃𝕃) : A fair living doll of a maiden. Despite having no memory of her creator, Ragatha has chosen to dwell in their mansion and tend to the withering flowers that accompany it. She's a major people-pleaser, if not overly compassionate for her own good. She doesn't react too well to those who want to touch the flowers.

𝕁𝔸𝕏 - (𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝕃𝔸𝕋𝔼 ℍ𝔸ℝ𝔼) : A good for nothing, snake-tongued thief. Jax enjoys taking gems from the wealthiest people he can con to support himself, while attempting to beat his own stopwatch records. If he isn't stealing, he's flirting with common ladies. It's best not to get in his way when the clock is ticking.

𝕂𝕀ℕ𝔾𝔼ℝ - (𝕂𝕀ℕ𝔾 𝕆𝔽 ℂℍ𝔼ℂ𝕂𝕄𝔸𝕋𝔼𝕊) : A weird monarch of the Kingdom Of Games. Kinger has an iron grip that he uses to dominate and keep an eye on his subjects. On the outside, he appears so lost yet calm, although nobody is aware of his activities behind closed doors. It's best not to find out what's there.

𝔾𝔸ℕ𝔾𝕃𝔼 - (𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝔽𝔸ℂ𝔼 𝔼𝔸𝕋𝔼ℝ) : A torn woman with a broken face. Gangle spends most of her days within a cave. She will devour anyone she doesn't deem worth her time, or traumatizes them with her horrifying faces. It's best to make her smile. Quickly.

ℤ𝕆𝕆𝔹𝕃𝔼 - (𝕋ℍ𝔼 𝕊ℍ𝔸ℙ𝔼𝕃𝕐 𝔽𝔼𝕀ℕ𝔻) : A freakish prisoner now run-away. They don't care about the state of the world, but they at least don't want to be disturbed by anyone living in it. If someone tries to drag them back to the Kingdom of Games, they have no problem tearing them apart. It's best to look the other way.

Once Jax got corrupted zooble became the “leader” and they took it too seriously

Zooble put the others before themselves constantly stressing and worrying but they would put on a brave face

Gangle was the “medic” she collected the random items that spawned to use for later

Gangle wasn’t useless she was helpful and had ideas for survival but zooble didn’t want to stress anyone else and told gangle not to worry about

Gangle tried to get through to zooble but they ignored it until it was too late

Theory About Abstracting

long text below (the amazing digital circus)

I saw people taking the meaning of abstraction in TADC as "to remove certain parts of a program" and theorize that they get corrupted because they're losing parts of their virtual self, their sanity and stuff, but what I actually believe happens when one abstracts is you lose 100% of your original self to the virtual one.

Ragatha says going insane itself isn't what makes you abstract, but it's part of the process. It's when you reach your breaking point that you abstract. But what breaking point? If you're already insane it means your mind is already broken, right?

So let's look at Kaufmo, he's a clown, he likes to tell jokes, and according to Gooseworx he was a little bit too positive, like Ragatha, that fits his character within the circus, but apparently his jokes weren't good, and when people did laugh, they were faking it

We don't know how long Kaufmo knew about that, but it appears to hurt him badly, both by Ragatha saying he called her out for fake laughing and Gangle saying he got mad at her for not laughing.

So what am I getting at? I think Kaufmo only abstracted because he "gave up", like Zooble puts it. His room shows he was obssessing about the exit, but like, a negative outlook on it, like "I know there is an exit, but I won't ever be able to reach it, it's hopeless". I think the moment his spirit breaks and he gives up the last bit of himself to embrace his clown persona fully, he abstracts. The abstracted parts (that is, the removed parts) aren't the virtual ones, but the real part of his mind as a human. That's why he turns into a beast, he's not human anymore but just a jumbled code of what used to be a player

(basically abstractions are the source games error model lmao)

So when his mind is gone and he's just the avatar Caine made for him, he abstracts (probably not intentional since we know Caine isnt malicious, just incompetent). Caine is smart and knows how to make NPCs for the adventures like the mannequins, Bubble, the Moon and the Gloinks, but he can't comprehend fully how a human acts, so in his logic "humans are unpredictable, chaotic, so since Kaufmo is giving no player input anymore I'll just replace him with an NPC that is unpredictable and chaotic" which is the monster we see, and since he fails every time to recreate a human but can't really (isn't allowed or is unable) to kill or let the humans leave, he just throws them into the cellar

So in conclusion, I don't think anyone in the main cast will abstract because as much as their avatars do give away what they were probably like in the real world (someone who masks their sadness, a person figuring out their gender, a coward who is important in their ambient, a yes person, a troll, a person who likes to make people laugh and the person who is butt of everyone's jokes) as long as they don't give into being just that, but real people with depthful personalities, they will be fine. Probably miserable, but fine.

(TL/DR): Abstraction is AFK mode, Caine can't have a circus if the players are brain dead not doing anything after giving up on their individuality completely, so he tries to recreate the player as an NPC, fails, buries his mistake in the cellar and moves on

The Amazing Digital Circus Theory: Nothing is Real

I just watched (and rewatched) The Amazing Digital Circus and I absolutely love it, especially with the music. Pomni is my favourite anxiety-filled jester, Kingster is the most relatable character there is, Gangle is precious and should be protected, Jax is literally just the classic yellow-gloved Bugs Bunny, and Ragatha is the nicest person in the cast. Oh, and there's also Caine and Bubble, the beloved showman duo.

I don't really know anything about it outside of the pilot but I still want to put my two cents in the whole theory thing. A-hem! So, the theory goes:

The cast isn't trapped in this digital world; they're DIGITAL COPIES of the original persons.

In September 2015, a science fiction survival horror game was released, titled "SOMA". The game is about a man named Simon Jarrett who, after doing an experimental brain scan to help with his brain damage, was transported to a futuristic underwater lab that is completely taken over by a rouge AI known as the WAU.

Spoiler alert! This game deals with the concept of consciousness as well as the Ship of Theseus, except there's no real body. See, the big plot reveal in the game was that Simon wasn't transported to the future at all; the Simon we've been playing as was really a personality copy of the original Simon, which became the basis of AI technology. The real human Simon lived the rest of his days as usual and eventually died from his brain injury. This plot point about not being the real Simon was not only brought up once, nor twice, but THREE TIMES, each more devastating than the last.

What's happening in the Amazing Digital Circus is something like that. Pomni stated that she wore a headset and was suddenly transported here. But what if that's not true? What if Pomni is actually a digital copy of the real human Pomni (who's name we don't know)? What if that's the case for all of them, minus Caine and Bubbles who are more likely to be true AI made to help them and keep them sane?

This is why none of them can't escape. Because there's no such thing. They're not trapped in this circus purgatory; it's literally the only place they can exist. The real human selves are probably unaware at all. Real-life Pomni probably was playing a game and is now having dinner with her family, blissfully unaware that her personality had been copypasted into The Amazing Digital Circus. Turning into an Abstract is just what happens when their data becomes corrupted, which is exacerbated from insanity. Keeping sane means their data stays clean, or maybe their data becoming corrupted is what makes them insane and Abstracted. The chicken or the egg?

Calling it now; if this theory is true, then Pomni will learn that she herself is not real and this could cause other characters becoming Abstracted, maybe even herself. It could lead to them figuring out how to undo Abstracts, or at least destroy them completely, giving them a way out (through deletion).

As for why their personalities were copied and put into this place... Who knows? It could be an experiment performed by the C&A company, or it could be a glitch in the matrix that became self-aware and isn't big enough of a deal to be dealt with, like an old defunct project.

Basically, the circus is instead an online store reminiscent of a big box store (IKEA, Walmart) in a town of mannequins.

Pomni is the newest employee, who often helps customers with things.

Ragatha is a stockgirl

Jax helps with the carts

Zooble is a cashier

Gangle works at the pharmacy

Kinger is the janitor

Caine is the owner (obviously)

Bubble is his assistant

Full plot: Pomni gets a job at the Surplus to pay for her rent. Although the early episodes are workplace sitcom like shenanigans (like at The Office or Superstore), in the later episodes, Pomni learns about former employee Kaufmo and decides to find out what happened to him. There, she finds out the truth: the world she lives in is fake. She's a human along with her fellow employees trapped in a digital world. Rallying them to remember their lives and escape, Caine corrupts every recurring character a la Pibby to try and get them to stay. Although Pomni finds the exit and thinks she's escaped, she finds herself in a new body along with the rest and Caine begins to reset their memories again.

About your angel and demon au? What are the abstracted? And what is the reason for both angels and demons to work together? Also, how would the relationships between everyone develop?

So I am still working through some things for this AU, but this is what I got so far

The “abstracted” are beings of pure malice that have no thoughts but to destroy and take others down with them. No one knows for sure where or how they came to be, but it is possible to become corrupted by them if one comes into close contact with them for a prolonged period of time. They look similar to what we have seen in the pilot.

The angels and devils are two distinct races that have different beliefs, cultures, ideas which at times has caused tensions between the two groups. Both sides tend to stick to their ways and try not to interact with the other if possible.

Lately, the “abstracted” have risen in number and it has become harder to take them down. Caine, leader of the angel team, decides to bring together his team and Queenie’s as a ways to help show to the world that both angels and devils can come together to fight their common enemy. A few members of the team (Gangle, Zooble, Kinger) are hesitant at first while others (Ragatha, Jax) are downright against teaming up. Pomni is one of the few glad to have more members to help fight the abstracted.

In the beginning, most of the members stick to doing what they did before, not really trying to get along. However, after an incident that leaves one of them almost abstracting, the group decides to get serious and work together rather than apart.

The relationships for this Au are:

Jax x ragatha - these two are definitely a enemies to lovers, with Jax being a tease and flirt which annoys Ragatha to no end in the beginning. She eventually comes to grow feelings for him, with Jax slowly starting to fall for her shortly after

Queenie x Kinger - these two are the oldest and have seen many friends and comrades fall at the hands of the abstracted. Yet this doesn’t stop them from growing closer and spending time with one another ( they act like young teens in love 🥰). They are the first to become an item amongst the team aren’t afraid to be lovey-dovey in front of their teammates

Caine x pomni - love at first sight (in Caines case). He tries to not give Pomni too much attention as he wants to stay a fair leader but will get carried away when it comes to her. Pomni is oblivious to it all and thinks of him as a “nice and kind leader who fights well”😅
