For two people who in the pre-Covid world averaged close to a 100 flights a year, it is a strangely familiar environment. I am still amazed by the views of the earth from the sky and so it had to be window seats for both #windowseat! We flew #indigo to #Bagdogra in West Bengal. The view of the #ganga over Bihar brought a smile and a frown. A smile because it is the Ganga, and a frown because it looks empty and dry. I tried to trace down the location on Google Maps and it is in the vicinity of the historic town of Buxar. Also notice the meanders of the capricious river and the oxbow lakes left behind. From Bagdogra, it’s a good 6-7 hour cab ride to #yuksom in west #sikkim. The ride becomes really scenic once you leave the bustling town of Siliguri. The road follows the course of the mighty #teesta river whose head waters originate in the glaciers around #kanchenjunga. We would see those glaciers and many of the rivers on our trek. However in the plains the Teesta is crisscrossed by many bridges, none prettier (at least to an engineer) than the Coronation Bridge #coronationbridge with an arch that that spans the deep gorge of the river.
