Nico Vaerewijck recent works will be launch from this Friday 29th May 2020. We are very proud with the result and we look forward to welcoming you! ENG/ In the second Solo show by Nico Vaerewick in Cecilia Jaime Gallery, new paintings are presented inspired by the stay of Laval and Gauguin in Martinique. A very eventful and not entirely obvious choice. It is not an easy task to form a visual language in the minds of these artists .... Not only the original paintings, with very daring compositions and use of color, here you see a pivot point for Gauguins' later work, but also the original 19th century visual material of the local population and culture formed a basis of Vaerewijcks upcoming solo. In the work Vaerewijck presents, he metamorphose old imagery through abstractions and manipulations that he intuitively and impulsively brings onto the canvas. The result can be viewed from Friday 29/05 NL/ In de tweede solotentoonstelling van Vaerewijck in de Cecilia Jaime Gallery worden nieuwe schilderijen gepresenteerd geïnspireerd op het verblijf van Laval en Gauguin in Martinique. Een turbulent en niet geheel evidente keuze. Het is geen gemakkelijke taak om een visuele taal te vormen in de hoofden van deze kunstenaars ...Niet alleen de originele schilderijen, met zeer gewaagde composities en kleurgebruik, hier zie je een draaipunt voor Gauguins 'latere werk, maar ook het originele 19e-eeuwse beeldmateriaal van de lokale bevolking en cultuur vormde een basis voor Vaerewijcks aankomende solo. In het werk dat Vaerewijck presenteert, metamorfoseert hij oude beelden door abstracties en manipulaties die hij intuïtief en impulsief op het doek brengt.
