It's already established that the Patrol Team really like Mags for several reasons (neat partner for Joe, good influence, horrible influence, has cool vivosaurs, carries snacks to steal, etc.) but I never went into how the BB Brigade feels about him.

All ex-grunts don't really care that much bout that romance but if Mags asks a rare favor they'll do it lickety-split (it's considered a debt paid since Joe/Don gave them a fair worker's salary and board for their time as grunts).

Lola likes Mags well enough even though they don't interact that often. When Lola gets back into med school she gets Mags to help her study for tests.

Lester and Mags get along the best due to their love of music (especially the rock genre). Both love Led Zeppelin and try to cover songs when they hang out. Lester plays guitar and drums and Mags plays bass and keys. They also like food so you can occasionally find the two getting burgers and shakes somewhere if their paths were to cross.

Cole is the only one to be a bit mixed about his 'boss' getting into a relationship. On one hand he's happy but on the other he doesn't exactly want to like the guy. This nerd dresses and even acts too strait-laced at times, is barely caught doing anything considered fun, and takes up a lot of Joe's time damnit. On the unspoken of third hand, Cole is weird about how similar he and Mags are. They both have similar casual dress, they both like unsettling or scary vivosaurs, listen to dark synth and rock music, AND can be hotheaded at times. Mags picks up on some of the weird vibes Cole gives off from time to time but does earnestly want to have some kind of positive or even neutral relationship with Joe's 'kids' so he'll try to bond with Cole. It's mostly Mags going, "Oh hey! You like Depeche Mode too? The Violator album is my favorite but also their new Memento Mori album and their Delta Machine and PLaying the Angel have some of my favorites-" and Cole is just gritting his teeth and going, "Shut up! Shut up! I LIKE THAT STUFF TOO! It was my thing! I'm supposed to be the COOL ONE HERE-"

i’m once again putting on my silly little detective hat and giving my silly little theories

spoiler warning here! i’m gonna be bringing up stuff that happens later in the games :)

disclaimer that this is all for fun! if you have any theories i’d love to hear them but please be respectful :,)

so before we get started i think we should establish the relationships

i’ve included separate graphs below for ayano, cole and seth because they’re aware of/have a disliking for so many other characters that it makes the rest of it hard to read

it’s pretty obvious what the dynamics are but i wanna be thorough :) some are included on the main graph regardless but that’s only if there’s an explicit line of dialogue or action regarding another character that isn’t the classic “i don’t like them”

it’s gonna take a long time to go over the proof of every relationship , and i haven’t even finished the graph yet (i’m about 3/4 through reading up on every character on the wiki - this is what i’ve found so far) but i’m planning on properly compiling all of the information and sharing it once hush hush is released.

if you’ve played the demo you may have also noticed that i haven’t included some characters/relationships in hush hush, such as lil and her relationship with cassie, cassie and eli’s friendship or lotus and nimh’s interactions. that’s because personally ? i think the crush crush/blush blush timeline happens parallel to hush hush.

(last spoiler warning before we get into it)

i think this for a few reasons. in short: the game is either set after the protagonist of crush crush or q-piddy sacrifices themselves OR hush hush is set in a timeline where the guys in blush blush were never turned into animals and the girls in crush crush had their respective whatever “crushed”. i’m leaning toward the latter as in hush hush there’s no relation to anything to do with the other games. namely the dark one’s form, eli and iro’s ages and will’s belief in magic/fortunes.

there’s more to this and i’m willing to elaborate but i’m also trying to keep this short :,)

but let’s assume that for convenience, hush hush is in fact an alternate timeline. we then need to have a look at the order of the games (crush crush, blush blush, hush hush and cabin fever).

i’d say it would look something like this

“pray tell, why did you put blush blush first when it was released after crush crush” - i’m gonna argue that it came first.

from conversations with the girls and also the option of the zoo job in crush crush, we can deduce that

1) the marshmallow in blush blush had lost their job by this time (from the conversations with “boss” in bb we know that they’re not coming back any time soon)

2) that the presence of the manimals was already made

this is also the reason that i think the marshmallow in cc and in bb are two different people. and arguably for hush hush too but like . the game hasn’t come out, i don’t have a huge amount to work with yet :,)

some separate theories that i think are pretty interesting!

- bearverly was not another victim of the magic water. she was turned human thanks to a potion, not like the power of love in bb (see: her staying a bear at the kiss interval). she also maintains her bear like qualities and doesn’t become “fully human” at the lover level, so honestly ? i think bearverly is just a fluke . a little hee hee ha ha if you will

- the “language that you don’t understand” that dmitri speaks is spanish. (see: him and lotus calling each other hermano/a, his use of cariño and little bird, the voice actor’s resume showing he can portray spanish characters)

- nimh left the bookmark in the book that cashew finds and contacts the player with . i don’t know how to explain this without going down a rabbit (haha get it) hole. the tl;dr is that you get cashew’s conversation when you reach boyfriend w nimh, the book is found in the university library and i’m gonna make the argument that nimh is studying to be a p.a and isn’t actually one yet (the average age of a paid p.a is much older than 20, and he only volunteers) AND a lack of romantic experienced is mentioned by both nimh and the writer. hook line and sinker i hope ???

- crush crush/blush blush is set in the same universes as rick and morty and hazbin hotel/helluva boss. (see dialogue with fumi and seth respectively !)

also! some theories that i’m currently working on:

- what’s the time/dimension travel element in all of this? (honey, reece, fumi)

- what are the ‘sushi rolls’ on nina’s head because i can’t find anything ?? is it a design choice ?? is it something else ? idk man idk </3

- what’s the link between the goldfish that was killed in cole’s introduction and the other characters because i don’t believe it was a random goldfish . AND did cole actually kill the goldfish because i’m gonna level with u . he doesn’t seem very capable of murder when you cross-reference with his attempts on the other guys . but also i guess a goldfish is way easier ?? idk :,)

- is generica the ghost that alfie employed or is there another instance of a ghost being summoned from the realm of the dead?

- did volks and bearverly date? and that’s why they hate each other? what’s the story there :o

- who are THESE people

there’s a lot more instances of these but i chose the ones that have characters that are supposed to actually be people . some of these are p obvious (ayano for instance) but i’m not sure if any of these are just references i’m not getting ? i know that the hush hush kickstarter allowed for a self insert tier so this could be the case but lmk if you recognise any :)

finally , if you made it to the end of this post tysm for reading my word vomit. i have some more thoughts but i’d like to share those when i have things a bit more worked out :) likely when hush hush is out as i feel that’ll have a lot more answers

I Always LOVE It....

when the BB decides to troll, just as I'm musing on a "should or shouldn't I go there?" post.....and, honestly, I was fully about to post the pic I was just sent, on its own....buuuutt....here's what I was mulling over (both content and to push or not to push?)....

Soo....Paris (and recently leaked private, candid pics, too).....now confirmed some already painfully obvious shit:

Cole is just fine

Cari is amazingly fine

Cole's career is just fine

Nobody GAF (or ever did) if Ari is an evvvolll, lowly "catalog model"

PP's career is just fine on its D-list/Hallmark Movie/never gonna approach anything again level (which, hey, she'll make a few $$$---that she'll spend on drugs/her cult----and she'll be fine, but there's no "high powered girlboss" anywhere, ever....and that ship has sailed/she's never bothered to catch it and simply continuing to insist it, doesn't mean dick)

This absolutely refutes every last theory the BB tries to push

It infuriates them on every conceivable last level....

Annndd.....the other part I absolutely LOVE here....one of the myths they recently tried to push (in the endless "I'm rubber/you're glue" arsenal they seem to have) was that Cabana Pee always look so happy, intimate, loving and close----while Cari look distant, are for the cameras, etc....oh and Cole always seemed so much happier with PP....

Nooow....where to start?

We've now seen (again) that ALMOST A YEAR TOGETHER!!! (which is also heelarious, since they're still, as we just saw, insisting Cari are fake/pee arr, THREE+++ years and counting and I shall make a smaller (maybe) side post on the whole A WHOLE YEAR!!! later).....the only time Cabana Pee look remotely "close/intimate" is when there are known cameras present, compliments of the paps having been called....

Otherwise? They look like a pair of verrryyyy awkward 7 year olds, with zerrooooo chemistry. And, LBR, they aren't together terribly often, unless it's for cameras and that's for a pair of attention whores, endlessly desperate for attention....

Cari? We see, all the fucking time, all kinds of sweet intimacies and are verryyy affectionate....now granted, Cole's a physical, affectionate guy, anyway (he'd be the first to say so), buuut.....AND....again, it's been over three years, they've never broken up/are together entirely because they choose to be/their relationship has steadily increased in commitment/they're very much part of one another's families/etc..

Soo....what does this translate to?

Cole's interviewed he's been in love three times, but also detailed (briefly) how verrryyyy different things are with Ari (and had been since moment ONE)....it becomes increasing obvious, she's the only girl he everrrr truly loved...

PP? Proximity created a lot of it....if they weren't on a show that threw them together (and their chemistry turned them into the couple that saved the show) all the time? Would've fizzled out pretty quickly.

Cole likes having sex, was lonely stuck up there and I have zero doubts PP being a neurotic mess was able to really play into all his issues with his mommeee and his tendency to be a bit of a fixer....

I now, do, truly wonder just how many times they broke up and just how often that was about PP's compulsion to fuck around....to the point of Cole routinely having to rearrange his plans, just to go babysit her fucked up ass.....

Similarly, Breetch? Well, first off, BF was all of like 20 years (oh and, yes, I'd give both Breetch and Peepster passes there, too....except they're the ones who turned it all toxic, repeatedly) and, again, she was a needy hot mess, the entire thing was a mistake....and while, yes, he chose to be with her, they were also dumb and it's been made apparent she knew perfectly how to push his buttons (again, a lot like his mommeee....)...

And both are still bitter, purely over something having not worked out...which, seriously? Pretty fuckin' standard.

When people try to argue Elvis’s entire career was built on appropriation, I don’t think it’s fair. I know most of his movies aren’t good but I oddly feel like they best represent the fact he had his own unique flair and charisma?

none of his career is built on appropriation. it's not just unfair to say that, it's not factual. i'm sick of seeing this when it's one of the easiest things to debunk and to properly understand. he grew up influenced by that music and sharing in that culture due to his background, it wasn't appropriated, it's who he was. (BB King: "Elvis didn’t steal any music from anyone. He just had his own interpretation of the music he’d grown up on, same is true for everyone. I think Elvis had integrity." Jackie Wilson: "A lot of people have accused Elvis of stealing the black man’s music, when in fact, almost every black solo entertainer copied his stage mannerisms from Elvis." Little Richard: "I love him. That's my buddy, my baby. Elvis is one of the greatest performers who ever lived in this world." you've already seen the quotes list that breaks all of this down, i'm sure).

does everyone conveniently forget that the norm then was for singers to record songs written by professional songwriters? the artistry came from the performance of the music. bing, frank, ella, billie holiday, dean martin, peggy lee, nat king cole, tony bennett, perry como, doris day, the andrews sisters, i could go on and on, all sang songs written by other people, that's how it worked. the only difference is they sang standards and elvis came in at the advent of rock and roll. additionally, many of those songbook writers were white (and jewish, there are significant cultural reasons for this too). black musicians and black songwriters faced awful unfairness and difficulties, segregation and continual prejudice, and weren't played like they deserved to be, sun records was associated with making r&b/soul music, but elvis never walked in and stole anything. did he have advantages making the music he did because he was a white, handsome man? yes, and he and everyone were aware of that, but he also broke barriers through that while facing harsh judgment and criticism for it. he gave credit to the black artists he considered the definitive musicians repeatedly throughout his life.

all of his unique flair and charisma is in his music because it's in his *voice*. music columnist Michael R. Burch gave one of the best descriptions of this, "I cannot think of another male singer who can go from nearly infinite sweetness, to ferocity, to spirituality, to tremendous power the way Elvis does. With the right song in hand he was untouchable."

the movies...are what they are, and sometimes they're really fun despite that, and sometimes his frustration/listlessness is more apparent and it's clear he's not reaching the potential he wanted nor displaying the full range of his talent, but he still gives himself to the music. even when some of the songs weren't great either (i read an article yesterday that called the soundtracks "loathsome," which is also terrible and unfair and i don't agree with that as a whole), he never falters there, because it's as if he couldn't not give himself and the whole of his voice to making that music as perfect as possible for the audience he knew would listen to it. he learned new ways to express the subtleties and nuances of his voice and cadence and emotional performance in a lot of those soundtracks too, which served him when he did his later recordings and kept expanding that color and richness of tone.

-Having Joe around to keep an eye on them means that they're less prone to causing trouble, but also they want to please him, and if he doesn't want them to cause trouble, they'll try not to go overboard with their shenanigans (mostly)

-If there's loud music being blared at 3 am that all of Caliosteo can hear it's definitely because of them (read: because of Lester).

-Cole is big into fashion, and so he spends a lot of his time trying out makeup, new outfits, and then subjecting other people to that. He wants victims test subjects to try out his fashion stuff on. He's also probably a cosplayer and spends a lot of time into making intricate and genuinely well-made costumes.

-We know Lester participates in eating contests, that's just canon, and he's damn good at it. I don't think anyone in Caliosteo (who isn't a vivosaur) can eat as much as he does. Dina genuinely thinks that this is amazing and really cool of him. If food goes missing its usually either Lester or Dina who did it.

-Lester collects a ton of merch for different bands, and he keeps said merch in pristine condition and knows where he keeps every little thing. Do NOT take or touch his band merch, or you will P A Y.

-Lester helps the staff out with heavy-lifting sometimes.

-Lola probably smokes weed.

-Lola has a massive sweet tooth, and you could probably bribe her with candy. The sweeter the treat, the better. Since she's always chewing bubblegum it's probably a favorite of hers.

-The trio sometimes crash fossil tournaments or cause trouble by letting their boneysaurs run amok when they're really bored, and it always ends with the patrol team playing hero and Joe confronting them about it later.

-Since Lola has the braincell between the three of them, any plans where they coordinate to cause trouble is almost always her fault.

-The commanders love to play pranks on the staff, typically harmless ones. One of Lola's favorites is drawings on people's faces when they sleep. She has done this to Joe. She got caught lmao.

-Cole secretly likes nightcore. Don't tell anyone.

-Petty fossil battles between commander and patrol team member are common. If Dina is involved, it might end in someone getting bit. Cole is slightly afraid of Dina because he's been bitten (and thrashed in fossil battles) the most.
