Es wundert mich immer wieder, dass ich online nie irgendwas gesehen hab, wo sich jemand über die Übersetzung der Maze Runner Bücher aufgeregt

Ihr müsst kein Maze Runner Fan für diese Story sein! Bin ich auch nicht! Aber zieht euch das rein.

Preface:

Wir schreiben das Jahr 2015. Ich kauf mir die Maze Runner Trilogie und denk mir "Da haben sie Filme von gemacht, werden bestimmt gut sein!"

Aber dann hab ich mehrere Momente beim Lesen wo ich mir denke "wieso sind die Bücher so populär, das klingt irgendwie nicht so geil, vom Schreibstil her?"

Hatte dann richtigerweise die Übersetzerin im Verdacht (Anke Caroline Burger, mein Erzfeind--und ist das nicht die größte Alarmglocke, dass die Bücher so schlecht übersetzt waren, dass es mir schon ohne Vergleich zum Original aufgefallen war?). Zum Vergleich hatte ich mir dann mal ein Englisches ebook angeguckt und, alter.

Hier das absolute Übersetzer Highlight aus dem Buch (hab übrigens nur Teil 1 gelesen) :

"a monster, a horror from a nightmare," übersetzt zu:

"ein Gnom aus einem Nachtmahr" GIRLLLL??????? BITTE WAS???????????

Ich weiß ja, man kann nicht alles 1:1 übersetzen, aber man muss auch das Rad nicht neu erfinden! Wtf!

So. Dat wars. Viel mir nur grad wieder ein, weil ich das Wort "Nachtmahr" anderswo gesehen hab und Kriegsflashbacks bekommen hab

in 6th grade we had to do a book report, and either make a poster about the book or a box.

I made a box about Inkdeath, which had just come out a few months earlier at that point (why I didn't just do Inkspell idk--my class saw a theater performance of Inkheart a few days before my presentation, so everyone knew about that. But I still had to give a quick run down of everything happening in Inkspell rip)

TCoR has me reminiscing, so I dug it out my closet. Featuring:

the Prince's bear made of clay (which my mom and I couldn't get to stand straight so we ended up having him lie down)

some newspaper clipping about the book idk

a gallows made of matches I have absolutely no memory of making, so that was probably my mom

the complete contents pages written out by hand

a map of the Inkworld, artfully burned (another shout-out to my mom)
